@fishsports: Source tells me A. Spencer today told #Cowboys he's 'willing ASAP' to start on forging long-term deal to cut $10.6M cap impact in half.

He's always had a great attitude.

Romo is my fav player on the team, but he's getting under my skin a little

Why? He's redone his contract multiple times already to help the team. We have no idea if they've even really started negotiating with Romo yet.

I don't blame Romo one bit -- it's his last opportunity at a big contract.

Even saintly Drew Brees held out for as much money as he could for exactly the same reasons.

Yes, it certainly doesn't help the team get any better because it reduces the amount of money available for everyone else, however, it's hard to blame Romo for expecting at least market value.

He hasn't done anything to help the team contract wise that didn't help himself even more. He has not taken a penny less than he was due to help the team. He has simply told Jerry it was okay to give him his salary for the season upfront and rename it a bonus so it could be spread out over several seasons. That's no different than lottery winners who take the lump sum. Let me see, do I want a bunch of money right now or do I want smaller amounts every week during the season? It's a no brainer and it's nothing he deserves credit for. No player has ever said no to a restructure that didn't include a paycut and none ever will. Just a little perspective.

Honestly, I'm not sure I would extend Romo either. Just my personal opinion, but I don't think he's going to have 4 more years in him.

And I think we're going to have a new head coach next year anyways, so let him start fresh with a new QB.

One of few who can actually see the forrest for the trees. Great post and spot on..

Don't really understand this. I haven't seen anything that's shown he's been approached about redoing his contract. It's possible Dallas hasn't even really addressed it.
