Everyone knows the 2nd year is the real test.

l like Dak a lot and this is correct. An offseason of game planning, watching tendencies and film, etc. Dak needs work on deep balls, footwork and reading the complex defenses (i.e. Giants). I do not expect him to have a bust season.

I don't know if these stats are accurate but if they are.....

We failed him. He didn't fail us.

Ignorant post IMO
Any intelligent football fan knows that the reason Romo has so many yards and stats is from playing half his games trying to come back from behind after turnorvers. Il never forget the buffallo game where i dissowned him and he won won me over in the same game.

The thing I hated most about the Romo era is the failures in almost every meaningful big game especially at home just stunk it up over and over.

How often do you think Brady was really playing catchup ball slinging like this last superbowl after trying to pull a Romo stink bomb in the first half?

Why dont you put up theyre playoff stats for comparison too?

I've been saying that for years. This franchise has had so many great players over the years. Some of the best to ever play the game. Not a single one of them single handedly made everyone from the front office, to the coaching staff, to the WR corp, to the O-line look better than they actually were. Not one, except Tony Romo.

That's why he's, possibly, my favorite Cowboys player ever. I've only been watching since 1980 (missed all of Roger's career, sadly) so i didn't get the opportunity to see Lilly in his hey day or some of our other early greats. But, I've seen plenty of them and not a one carried the burden that Romo carried for his career.

I love Dak. It's hard not to. The kid is just downright likeable and easy to root for. It's his team, now, and I'll root for him like hell. But Romo got the shaft. There's no denying that.

This ^^^

He did tell Dez in practice to quit screwing around on a 2 minute drill early on.

Give him time and he will be yelling at you to Twill...just like the fans!!

I will say one thing for Dak...it appears he has the knack of leadership. That's a great trait for a QB.

He has a masters degree in it. Literally.

I admire Romo as well. He so easily one of my all time favorite players.

He had his chances though, I don't think he got the shaft. Everything is not all his fault but he deserves a share for coming up short as well. He had 10 years, that's a lifetime in the NFL. His days were numbered regardless of how Dak performed.

o_O lolwut? He couldn't have had more expectations placed on him. He also had the longtime franchise QB looking over his shoulder.

What? He was fourth round pick who, if things had gone as planned, would never have seen the field. He had about the least amount of expectations on him as an NFL QB could have.

He could have had a very mediocre season with a few good flashes of potential and it would have been accepted as a good start and created some optimism.

The story of Dak this season was that he by far exceeded all reasonable expectations.

That has all changed now of course. Next season the expectations of him will be far more than they probably should be.

Romo (6) games: 1,316 yards (219/game), 8-2 TD-Int (4:1), 93 Rating
Brady (34 games): 9,094 yards (267/game), 63-31 TD-Int (closer to 2:1), 89 Rating

I had a minute to look up and posted since you asked. Obviously, there's a MUCH larger sample size with Brady which certainly has to be considered.

I hope you're kidding. There was so much noise about how every game was his "real test"

I know rivals and fellow fans that think he still is a fluke because he did poorly at the Pro Bowl skills competition

No, that was imagined by people trying to deflect any and all criticism. It was a strawman. There were no expectations for the rookie to carry the team.
Anyone that didn't think this guy had pressure last year was in a fairytale. Almost every game, you would hear..."Now comes the real test". And you're right...there were no expectations in THE BEGINNING. But, once they started winning, the kid had much pressure to perform.

Right, because the Pats have always been known for leaning on the ground game.... oh boy.

only on this board would you have someone compare a 2 wildcard playoff win QB to the greatest QB of all time.

Context man...I literally just pulled the stats since the previous poster requested. In no way shape or form am I making a case for Romo in comparison to Brady. Hopefully your response was directed towards the original post but since you quoted me I figured I'd clarify.

I see you have a low post count... pay no attention to the Animosity troll. He's the personification of a repetitive troll broken record. His next post will either mention 2010 Aaron Rodgers or 2013 Andrew Luck. It's like clockwork.
