Cowher to the Skins would be a bad fit, one of the main reasons Cowher was successful in Pitt was because the Steelers always had solid drafts. thats something the Skins cant figure out or refuse to do.

Hmmm....I seem to remember Redskids fans saying something like this 3 years ago, and 2 years before that. Ya'll ain't never gonna win with that twit for an owner, no matter who the coach is, so good luck with all that.

I have to say that the quote that a couple skins fans were repeating...AS A JOKE...following up to SP has really caught a few here and they just went into attack mode.

:laugh2:

Not sure how to score it.

Should SP get all the bonus points for starting it?
Should the skins fans get bonus points for following up on it?

Should the other posters who did not realize, until afterwards, that it was a joke and went into attack mode get the bonus points.

Well...SP gets them, he started the ball rolling at the party.

I think mostly what it illustrates, is that noone reads my lameass posts.

Except Commanders fans.

It could happen...thats just how it goes but I think that if the Panthers job open up he would go there..but then again Danny Boy can throw a boat load of money at him. But Coach Gibbs has always said he will work thru his five year contract. He doesn't want to leave Washington on a losing note.

Allow me to outline Commanders' fans talking points (in advance) if this were to go down.

etc.....etc.....

Carolina is more likely. I think they're getting disillusioned with Fox.
I would say Carolina is the most likely of course, with his new home in Raliegh, and his desire to stay close to the area.

I disagree. I live in NC and Fox is very well liked and highly thought of by the fans and the media here. He is one of the top HCs in the league but injuries have killed the Panthers the last few years. I don't know who thinks he is on the "hot seat" but it isn't anyone around here.

If the timing would have been better he would have taken the UNC job but Butch Davis was available before Cowher was so he got the job.
I would disagree with that. I live in Charlotte and John Fox and Marty Hurney have been catching lots of heat the last two seasons. Fans are clinging desperately to the SuperBowl appearance, but it hasn't and won't be enough to save Fox's job if Cowher becomes available. I am sure it will be a quick decision to fire John Fox if the Panthers don't make the playoffs, or stumble in and lose quickly.

If the Panthers don't do well this year then I agree he would be on the hotseat but their failures the last couple of years have been due mostly to injuries than anything under Fox's control. Losing both RBs a couple of years in a row hurt but they still were able to play well with scrubs. They have lost Jenkins twice in a row, been hurting at DB and WR and their O-Line has been riddled with injuries.

If the Panthers are foolish enough to let Fox go I would sign him in a heartbeat in Dallas. He has performed miracles with the Panthers considering what he has had to work with from a health standpoint.

I also agree that Cowher would like to stay close to his home here in Raleigh but you can't always get what you want. Washington isn't that much further than Charlotte from Raleigh, certainly not by plane, so I don't see a whole lot of difference there and they need someone while I don't believe Carolina does.

He could fool everyone and take the NC State job when it open up.

I also live in Raleigh and saw Cowher give a talk at a local sports gathering last month. His daughter's a HS junior next year here, and he really wants to be close enough to spend time here, go to her basketball games, etc. Cowher mentioned that he's on the CBS Sunday pre-game show next season. I agree with Thumper and others that DC proximity wise isnt much further than Charlotte from his home, so that's not the issue as far as which organization he's mulling. Said he was reading more now and actually learning to play the piano and becoming a house husband, if you can believe that.
Got to meet him and shake hands, and I have to say he seems like a great guy. I wouldnt bet the ranch that he'll be jumping to the NFL in 2008/2009; he may take a few years off, but who knows.

I seriously dont get the cowher love to be honest. he was there a LONG time and the team was nothing more than mediocre most of the time he was there. Even the year they won the superbowl they were far from the best team in the league IMO. I like cowher, but I dont think he is a top tier coach.

With what he has done, with what he has had. I think he is a pretty darn good coach.

People may not follow steelers football in any ways but since I live in an area that is mostly steeler fans and they play every stinking Steeler, Bengals and browns games every sunday...you get to hear many things from their fans.

The steelers organization, believe it or not, is in a small market area. They are also known for letting players go when they want big contracts. They only keep a select few top tier players anymore because they don't want to push out the moulah.

They tend to have a high turn around on players over the years on defense but seem to be able to draft and coach players to fill in those positions.

Now I am not saying the guy is comparable to the great HCs like landry, shula and so on. But I think he is pretty good and I honestly think if he was with a team that was willing to pay their top players when they come due he would do well.

He has had good success with a multitude of different assistants and I imagine he could attract many assistants to help him if he decided to come back in the game.

So he may not be a great hall of fame type HC, but I think he is far from below or even just average IMO.

I would think the Chin would be smarter than to go into that hell hole of Washington. And with that idiot owner.
Same hole that has used and spit out Spurrier and pretty soon Gibbs.
The Chin spent years building his team into Super Bowl contenders. I imagine it would take a minimum of five years to get Washington into Super Bowl shape but by that time he'd be too tired from being around Snyder to want to stay in.

Playing or coaching in Washington is no longer about winning. It's about collecting a large signing bonus. Period.

Wasn't that the exact same ish that you guys were spewing :puke: when Gibbs came back? GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!

I say let you guys have Cowher; he doesn't have Mike Tomlin or Ken Wisenhunt, or any of the other brilliant Coordinators there to help anymore now does he?

You have Joe Bugel as an "asst. head coach-offense"

Wait didn't you guys have a "safties coach" ? :laugh2: (sorry had to jab that one in there)

Al saunders as your "assosciate head coach/offense"

http://www.nfl.com/teams/coaching/WAS All these stupid titles are ridiculous.

By the way; your HC doesn't do anything on the field anymore except for saying "we are gonna go for it" or "kick a field goal" because he relinquished his play calling on offense to Saunders and on defense to Williams.

I would hope Cowher gets to call ALL of the plays; that would be fun to watch....
