Cowherd: This is what Dallas was last year. What happens when game is tight?

are they saying that about the Lions? Show me when it matters? How about the Bengals? Chargers????Nah..... the Cowboys have their own set of rules that allows the announcers to keep them in the headlines. Who cares what any of them think. I personally think some of them come up with and say this stuff even though they dont actually believe any of it.
Well the bengals are fresh off a super bowl trip to be fair and a championship game. Lions have tons of non believers because they are the lions.

The cowboys have their own set of rules because they get the most attention without the actual on field success plus we have failed to get past the division round for nearly 30 years - while still getting that attention. I don’t listen to any of it, I enjoy the ride.

and the Cowboys have been horrible for so long, and yet non of those teams seem to be catching up to Dallas' 5 sb wins.....strange.

I don't agree we are the same team from last year but I can see the overall point. Until this team wins something of note (ie a playoff game) then the same will be said.

I am very keen to get to that SF game and see how we stack up.. as I am worried about what happens when it is a pure defensive slog and it requires our offence to generate long, sustained drives under pressure.

I feel this team is different.. there is a real belief.. but we have seen it before amount to nothing. The bit that makes me believe is that Micah has gone to another level and we have a little bit of depth in skill positions.

Short passing. As opposed to the QB having to sit in the pocket play after play after play. Moving down the field, possessing the ball. Getting 1st downs on 2nd and 2 instead of 50 yd passes.

Dak is what he is at this point in his career. If we want any shot at a playoff run, the OC must absolutely call plays that fit Dak's strengths. KMo was not doing so, and neither was JG. MM gets it, and is doing just that. At present, Dak is flourishing, and against 2 good D's.
I see you point.
My complain and disagreement remains DAK is not an elite QB and I really dislike that the owner is to committed to him

It's a shame I won't be here when Homerland comes crashing down to reality.
They say I go MIA when we win but even though I'm here (paying for the luxury) I get bombarded with insults etc etc.
2 games against average QB and an uncertain future with a very basic offense due to the limits of our most important position and we are called haters and Eagle fans.

He isn't an elite QB and the owner shouldn't be so overcommitted to him.. but Dak is 100% good enough to lead this team to a SB if we use him correctly. If we keep Daks ego in check.. he should be having around 30 attempts a game (depending on how many turnovers the D gives us) and most of those should be short routes, screens.. safe stuff. Occasionally we need him to hit CeeDee on a go route or hit an open receiver off a good rub route. Then lean into the run game that goes through Martin and Smith/s.

With a D that will always keep you in the game.. and likely give you +2-+5 opportunities in turnovers/good field position.. then the offence just needs to be tidy. Dak CAN be tidy.. we have seen it over a very long period. When he is not playing hero ball then he can make the throws. I also can't complain about his leadership stuff.. the team seems to rally to him.

So the pieces are in place.. now or never.

Dak was lucky to have not thrown a pick 6 last weekend. He may not be so lucky next week.

Dak needs to throw downfield and trust his receivers more. This offense needs to evolve and improve this season, or I’m not sure it can keep up.

Don't let em get to you. It might be the same this year.. but hope always gets me at the start of the season. Plus you and I probably disagree a little over how good Dak can be as a bus driver.. I feel he is more than adequate as a bus driver.. if he is used sparingly and sticks to the script then he is more than good enough to guide this ship imho.

Of course.. you are right.. the real tests are still to come and I am keen to see how we go. Going to be a long season.

He is about as right as you would expect an entertainer with no real football experience who pretends to be an expert on all of the professional sports and NCAAF and NCAAMBB to be.
And where did you play, coach or scout? Maybe the GM of a team? Just wondering where all your expertise comes from?

He's not entirely wrong, but this defense is markedly better than last year, and the offense is a notch better, too.

There isn't a better roster in the league than this one when healthy.
Yeah. Don't look now but Prescott leads the league in QBR (83.7) after two weeks. Interesting how two west coast quarterbacks are at the top of the order (Prescott first, Purdy second). Cowherd will be highly reticent to admit that unless Dallas can take down the 49ers in week five. Until then, the typical tropes about him will rule the day. But if he can stay in the top five, Dallas will have a very good year with their current level on defense.

2019 Dak is the one we want...the guy who finished the season fourth in QBR (71.9). 27 ppg that year.

Conservative and less technical offensive playcalling doesnt mean basic. Also, the Jets defense was/is ranked top 3, so Iam not sure why your acting like our offense wasnt tested.

I get your schtick is to downplay every team except the 49ers, but come on...

What will the Cowboys do when the game gets tight? I don't know, wait until the 2nd quarter? We are dominating this year, Dallas has battled enough over the years, they know how to keep giving it all they have.

Not watching clickbait, though.

The defense hasn’t been tested yet. They played two terrible olines. Let see what happens when we played a good oline

Sure, but they held a San Fran in check in the playoffs and stomped the Vikings when they were lighting up the league.

Then they added Gilmore and Mazi,

Doesn't mean they shut everybody down, but they are in that rare group.

its not irrelevant..... just makes the point it is damn hard and teams arent given a title game appearance when its their turn.
Which is why teams who have recently been there get the benefit of the doubt over teams who haven’t ie the bengals….who you referenced lol

Nobody cares about last year.
I do because he brought it up:

This is what Dallas was last year.

Don't want to talk about last year then he shouldn't have brought it up.

I know you thought you were slick with you response but you weren't. I stayed on topic, you stayed on some ol bs.

San fran?
What about them. If you are implying that we lost, yeah we did. I never said we didn't lose close games but Cowherd implied that we don't handle close games well and I pointed out the multiple times we did. Some of you want to be so correct so bad, you don't pay attention to the details.
