I agree with your thoughts but defensive tackles (the 3-tech) in this system probably get the sexiest numbers of any other scheme.

The whole defense is geared towards the 3-tech having one-on-one battles and getting to the QB or the RB in the backfield. That is why we heard so much about Warren Sapp when he played for Marinelli and why Sapp disappeared when he left tampa to play for the Raiders. That 3T spot is specifically tailored to generate big numbers.

There is no defensive scheme where Crawford would be getting the numbers he can for Marinelli in Dallas.

Suggests the Cowboys will be following this scheme for quite some time, eh?

I think 45 is expensive. 50 is more expensive. Also the guarantee for skill is only 17m.

50 > 45 and 25 >17 in case you were confused.

I'm glad it's yous guys makings the moneys.
I certainly don't have the mind for it... I can barely remember how much to pay my peeps, if they didn't remind me constantly.
So sad... They deserve so much better, but I'm all they got. I should look into hiring someone for this...

Nah... I'll save my cash and let my boys lament. They get paid pretty much on time. I brook zero complaints.

You weren't clear about your concerns. It sounded like you wanted to sweet talked about the total value.

If it was the cap you are concerned with then it is pretty straight forward. I would expect at least one restructure and I can see him playing out the entire deal, so it may be 46m over 7-8 years.
Why would anyone care about anything other than the cap hit?

Another good signing for Dallas.

I'm confused why there are so many people here questioning or who are outright upset with the news. Maybe I've watched the 2014 film too much but Crawford was a playmaker on an anemic defensive line. His 3 sacks are misleading because he could have had 6 or 7 but because there wasn't pressure outside or even next to him the QBs had just enough time to throw the ball before going down. PFF credited him with 9 QB hits in 2014 which was tied for 5th for all DTs.

Crawford was able to make plays and get into the backfield with Hayden next to him and Selvie/Spencer on the left side. Teams could single Hayden and the LE with little consequence then slide the protection to Crawford's side. Now we have Gregory and Lawrence outside and we can replace Hayden with Mincey/J.Crawford/Coleman/Hardy (after week 4) so it should give Crawford even more 1v1's which he usually wins. His numbers are going to go up with all the added talent around him. I think this is a sound investment which will pay off immediately.

Now that Crawford is locked up we have our 3/4th of our defensive line (Gregory, Crawford, Lawrence) locked up until at least 2018. On top of that 4/5ths of our offensive line (Smith, Collins, Frederick, Martin) are also here until at least 2018. Good times!

I haven't read the entire thread and certainly don't speak for everyone but I'm sure many were making statements based on a $9 million per year number rather than the $7.6 million per year number. $7.6 is still a little on the high side of what I expected but not a terrible number.

A year after than he'll be in the mid-teens.

I breathe heavily and say this with much gravity:
I enjoy you Burma.
You don't say anything that makes people go- WHOA.
You like to play surly and grumpy at all times...

But you do always speak common sense and it makes me glad that someone keeps to their abilities and not try to go beyond it, no matter how closed off it might end up being.
Keep doing what you do, Burma.
I always, at least, know what to expect from you the second I see your name.

I'm glad you live near me and one day, one day I hope to run into you in Cruces. I actually think you and I would really get along face-to-face and enjoy our time together.
I once brought it up to Hostile about a year ago when he was coming into town and wanted to hang out.
I brought up you and how I thought it would be great if the three of us were together for a game.

Unfortunately I don't think you'd want that to happen. I hope you do. It would be quite fun for us old sauces to commingle for but one game together.

thankee. But now that I am retired I am no longer in that area- which for the record I did not particularly like.
In the SLC area now getting my retirement property ready.

I try and post what I feel at the moment. Which is why I got sat down a few times. But I could care less. Not going to change.

They are a dime a dozen but we are without a dime and went through a dozen.
And you would've signed Murray? It's funny how 1 great season changes everything, because before last year no one saw Murray as a franchise back. We all know if the Cowboys would've given Murray what the Eagles gave him and he bottomed out, we'd be talking about how Jerry still overpays for overrated players.

And don't, friend. Keep being Burma. You are a piece of this board's fabric and I think you are needed to keep certain fiends in check.
Even myself.

They are giving him $10m now but he was already signed for the elcheapo $650k from his rookie third round deal. He makes less than Solial, Luiget, Odrick, and Jackson even if you parse from when the extended years begin.

Doesn't seem like he'll be happy after 2017 when he has 3yr/21m non-guaranteed money left.......oh well

Cullen Jenkins. Get out of here with that crap.

I wouldn't categorize Jenkins as a JAG or anything like that.

Cullen Jenkins has been a pretty good interior pass rusher for most of his career.

44.5 career sacks.
