Welker is just a good receiver in his own right.

Just watch what teams have done in recent weeks.

They are doubling him in many cases and leaving Moss and the others alone.

And it is slowing them down.

I was saying that it was Walker that was killing the Patriot opponents in the beginning of the year. Most teams were simply so scared of Moss that they would let Walker do his own thing. You get match-ups of Walker on LBs and that is just ridiculous. He was sustaining drives and a good size majority of those 100 catches are first downs.

What a waste of money...

If you wanted to sign a 4.65 WR, why not Charlie Rogers or Mike Williams. At least they arent damn near 30.

The trolling is getting old. Between this and the Quinn nonsense your lack of football acumen is becoming apparent.

Its not trolling... he just isn't worth the money. Plain and simple. And please don't doubt my football IQ. When you've played and coached your entire life, you tend to pick up on some things.

Funny. You were one of the last ones to pick up on Romo being a better option than Brady Quinn.

I typically don't get involved in these 'agenda-drive' debates on here because I don't see how people can love a team, however dislike certain players and 'secretly' hope for their failure in order to bolster your image/football IQ. You seem like more of a Brady Quinn fan than a Cowboys fan.

Playing and coaching your entire life should show you that we aren't going to find a better 3rd WR in the game, and that Crayton has worked hard to earn his spot in our receiving core. He's played well, hasn't made mistakes, and has quietly had a very solid year (700 yards 7 TDs) beside two of the leagues best pass catchers.

I just didn't see it. I thought he was another Kurt Warner. Two good seasons and he was done. I am glad we have him but I wasn't a believer until after the first 4 games or so this year. And the Brady Quinn thing is just my Domer side showing.

But I am sure you have been right about all of your assumptions too with personel on this team. Did you think Berry-O was the next lynch or Roy was Ronnie Lott? Not saying you did, but alot of people here were convinced of it. It was comical to say the least.

I like Crayton as a player and what he contributes to the team. He is a solid #3 WR that moves the chains. He also makes good decisions in his punt returning. I hope he makes plays when the ball is in his hands and he contributes to victories. He is going to be just like St. Louis signing Drew Bennet. Overpaid slow possesion WR. Thats not a bad thing for him. I just wish the money was used to pay the playmakers of this team and to extend this teams Studs like MBIII and Hamlin.

You don't even state facts in your posts. Crayton is 28, not 30. He doesn't turn 29 until after the season is over. Right now he is under contract until he is 32, which is still younger than the 'starting' WRs on this team.

He has caught 7 TD passes as effectively the 3rd WR (Witten is ahead of him). He is on pace for 50+ catches. That's a good number 2.

Additionally, this signing doesn't exclude Hamlin, Canty, Barber, etc. I have no clue what makes you think it would.

There is still enough money to get Hamlin done plus sign other guys. He's not going to get paid CB money.

As for MBIII, he's a restricted FA. We'll tender him high, unless we extend him first, and we can always sign him during the off-season or during next season, assuming his body holds up.

I don't see us being cash strapped.

As for Crayton, yes, he's better suited for the number 3 role, but with Glenn's injury history and age, and TO's age, it's good we kept Crayton. And the price was not exorbitant.

MBIII is RFA and he isn't going anywhere unless Cowboys want him to go. As for Hamlin, I'm confident we'll re-sign him because Jerry Jones knows he is a very good FS, something we haven't had since Woodson.

Let me ask you. If you asked the coaching staff who would run the plays if Romo then Johnson went down, what do you think their answer would be?

I think they'd run Stanback back there before they'd run Crayton. Crayton is a WR now, when was the last time he threw a pass? His stats said he's only thrown one in a real game, and it was intercepted.

Wade said the other day, Crayton would be the emergency QB.

Well that's embarassing, for me, and the Cowboys.
How so? If nothing else, at least being a WR, he knows how to read NFL defenses.

BTW, I think his only pass in the NFL is a botched fake field goal play when he was a rookie.

Anyway, I think if the 'boys are down to their emergency QB, then they have bigger problems than when a guy last played QB.

Very true, I wonder how many teams even carry 3 QB's on the roster. I'm not so sure I believe Crayton's ability as a WR means he can read defenses as a QB though, if that were the case, every half-decent WR would have a leg up on a backup QB job.

No, they ran a reverse play where he threw an INT into the endzone.

The play you are thinking of, crayton ended up tucking and running (and getting stopped short)
