Crayton: Will he make the team?

Crayton is a lock in my mind.

But he better show a better ability to secure the football, or Parcells will have his head on a platter.

Tuck that ball away Crayton!

Owens, Glenn, and Crayton are the only experienced receivers on the team. I don't see any way that Crayton doesn't make the team this season (barring a major injury).

With two 30+ injury prone starters I don't see any way that we can afford to get rid of our #3. If one of them goes down we will need someone with some experience to step in. None of these other guy have NFL experience except Copper and I think it is safe to say that Crayton is certainly a better option than Copper. At this point we can't afford to NOT keep Crayton.

Crayton is the only player behind Glenn and TO with any NFL expierence, He is the no. 3 receiver and let's hope that doesn't change this year.

Which of the rookie WR do you want to start if either TO or Glenn go down?

Crayton is a LOCK.

If Bill Parcells keeps Terrance Copper vs. Patrick Crayton then he's losing it unless Copper has had some kind of rebirth or Crayton can't stay healthy.

Special teams coverage and return teams make a large difference in field position, but they can't compare to the *passing game*. Sheesh. I simply see the Cowboys keeping five receivers-- Owens, Glenn, Crayton, Green, and Copper. Unlike Peerless Price last year these guys will have all gone through training camp together.

lets say that Jamaica has just as good of hands as Crayton (hypathetical) has more speed and is more athletic and Green is the real deal on ST...

If you have Owens and Glenn as 1 and 2 and Jamaica as 3 and green as 4..your number 5 guy should be developmental or atleast that is the way I see it

Admittedly, I'm a HUGE Crayton fan. That said, in the above scenario, Jamaica would be the developmental #5 receiver, not Crayton, simply due to lack of experience. I had read where they are really high on Rector, but he's been on the PS for a reason.

According to Bill it was because he lacked strength/stamina...but again according to Bill he is now the strongest(pound for pound) on the team...

so If Jamaica the touchdown maker :) is better than Crayton and Lean Green the dancing machine :) is a better Special teamer does crayton go to the #5 inactive WR or do we keep him at #3 even though someone is better

Thank you my friend.. it is afternoon and still to early to sit in the garden and have a cold one

You can't ignore his experience at this point. Remember, Terry making it through last season injury free is somewhat of an anomoly. I think those two factors alone shoes him in. JMO of course.

Also....he's got that Novacek knack for getting open on third downs.

We are suppose to be 99 for a high by Fri--And this is May--not good --time
to restock the frig.
I do think Crayton has at least one more year and then???

He should be a lock, but if not, that just means some guys have really stepped it up. I am for the best, I don't care who they are. But, Crayton has great hands and I believe that will lock in a place for him.

Whoa... if you see a guy walking around in a red suit with a pitchfork and tail tell ole Danny that Gibbs is the ugliest Coach in the NFL :laugh2:...

I like Crayton and am not at all wishing him off this team but the thought accord to me if someone should prove better...what do we do with him?

99!!?? I'd have to don the long-johns and dust off the parka.......;)

Barring a serious injury, as it stands now, I think Crayton is basically a lock to make the team as our #3 guy.

This is kind of like saying, well what if all of our UFA linebackers really impressed at TC and Parcells benched Ware. While Parcells is a big supporter of 'the best guy gets the job' it just isn't very likely to happen.

The chances of one of these guys actually being better than Crayton is very slim. And on top of that, they know Crayton can produce in game. All they would know about the new guys is that they can practice well.

Crayton has nothing to worry about this year. Very little chance we have no experienced backup for our two starters, and Crayton looked good before his injury.

But I think the battle for the 5th slot, and I do think we keep 5 WR's with 4 dressing, will be interesting. Copper is going to have to show more than ST's to keep his job because Green is a near lock to dress as the KR/PR and 4th WR so the 5th guy needs to show good WR potential. I would not be surprised if Miles Austin shows something in TC he earns a spot over Copper.

I don't see him not making the team. Green will most likely take over the punt returns, but if he gets a case of the muffs then they'll probably put Crayton in there. He's too good of a WR to let go even if they are going to utilize the 2 TE set even more. Plus, the WR depth is only okay right now.
