Crayton: Will he make the team?

It is entirely possible that someone else steps up and takes that spot...I think Green has more of a spot locked up than Crayton because of ST... and if someone can be more explosive than Crayton than he may just lose that spot...

I like Crayton and think he has excellent hands...but he isn't what I would call a threat to score from anywhere on the field..We will see what happens but it could be real interesting..

What makes you think this will happen. I think if it were to happen, it would have been last year, when he really was a ? mark. Green will nd to prove he's more than a return guy to make this team. Copper hasn't pushed Crayton, nor did any of the PS guys. Now this Miles Austin may push Copper, but not Crayton, not this year.

Thank you my friend.. it is afternoon and still to early to sit in the garden and have a cold one

Tsk.. Tsk.. what happened to your German spirit? You are supposed to drink Warm beer aren't you?

IMO, there are 2 Patrick Crayton's...the first guy was preinjury, he will be a lock to make the team. The second guy was post injury, he sucked BAD, and it had nothing to do with his ankle, he just couldn't catch the ball...if that guy shows up to TC, he will get cut just like Quincy Morgan.

I disagree it had nothing to do with his injury. He was not comfortable out there after he came back because he wasn't close to 100%.

Blech:puke: I realize by now I should be able too but I gave up trying about 10 years ago..I only go to places I know that have a cold one or I stay at home...

but what is funny is that more and more places have cold ones

I have no way of knowing what will happen...but the question crossed my mind what if (for example) Jamaica or one of the other young ones really steps up his game and seems to be better than Crayton...I am guessing that Green makes the team unless he is just awful...and the young one that stepped up makes the team...where does that leave Crayton...

Crayton is better than you're giving him credit for. He may not be as fast as Steve Smith, but he's strong and has the ability to break tackles. He's a poor man's TO. He really showed something at the beginning of last year. There's just no way he doesn't make the team...his competition is a bunch of smurfs with questionable hands. IMO there's no reason Crayton can't develop into a #1, he's got good instincts, strength, and enough speed. I mean Marvin Harrison isn't the fastest wide receiver in the league, and he gets it done.

it leaves him as teh #3 WR. Green will be #4. Copper rector, none of these guys have WR skills, and none have shown anything whereas Crayton has already proved he's good, unless you have never seen him play you would agree.

Not every WR is a Steve Smith or Santana Moss type player. Our WR will be as follows:

Owens
Glenn
Crayton
Green
Copper/any other ST type WR

Green is a quick guy who we will probably try and get touches, but you can't have enough guys like Crayton, who run smooth routes, get open, and hang on to most balls.

Like soeone else said, Crayton, at this point, is the only WR we have on the roster who is young, and actually has flashed potential. Copper has been average, but you can find players like him pretty easily. Green hasn't done anything at this level, and though I like him, I would think he is going to contribute as a return man more than anything.

I'm still not sure if Crayton is THE ANSWER for the 3rd receiver spot, but I can't see how he doesn't make this team given the lack of depth we have already. He showed 'flashes' last season as it seems to me his development was accelerated by having a good QB get the ball to him regularly. Plus let's not forget Terry Glenn's track record of consistency and injury. He's never had back to back seasons of 1000+ yards receiver....something to think about.

Personally The Answer would have preffered to keep Peerless Price over Crayton, but apparantly Parcells never wanted him. I think Peerless would have been a better fit in the long run given the success he had early in his career with Bledsoe.

Let's not look past Skyler Green either, this kid is going to be something special, the only knock on him is his size. But he does have all the athletic tools you can ask for...great hands, vision, explosiveness and instinct running with the football. A dangerous slot receiver and kick returner will big play ability.

If everybody stays healthy, it should shake down like this:

1) TO
2) Glenn
3 & 4) Crayton/Green depending on who has the better camp

I still wouldn't mind combing the waiver wire this summer to see what other veterans might be available for insurance/depth.

I guess...:(that I am not capable of getting the scenario across that played in my mind...

I am not asking if you like Crayton...because we all do

I'm NOT asking if he is better than any 3rd we have now... because he is...

I'm asking if one of the young ones should starting shooting lighting out his *** and becomes better than Crayton...what would Bill do with Crayton my guess is he either goes to the 5th position for the season (unlikely) or they cut him (most likely)

1. No mixing of first and third person. I think this should be a forum rule.
2. Trying to cleverly insert your username in your post should also be against the rules.
3. Peerless Price was/is junk. Outside of one good year, he hasn't been all that good in the NFL.

I think Bill's criticism of Crayton post injury is telling. I don't think he'd do that if he didn't have high expectations. Crayton pushed himself back from that injury much quicker than he probably should have. BP knew it. Crayton knew it. BP still pushed his buttons. I take that as a good sign.

definitely. Reminds me a bit of the JJ situation, Parcells rides him because he knows what the guy can do on the field. Unless Crayton gets hurt he's the #3 wr. I'm sure Green will get his chances too though.
As far as the topic "Crayton: will he make the team" we all agree he does. None of this jamaica rector catches 20 td's in tc and becomes the #3 nonsense, because it isn't happening.

I think Zax is just asking "what if?", although it may be far-fetched, I think we should at least indulge the man ;)

so, what would we do in this scenario? I'd try to at least trade him, if not, break his legs so as to put him on IR

Crayton definitely has potential...I hope he steps it up this summer now that Skyler Green is in the mix looking to take his job.

As for Price, he has done nothing of note in his career aside from one great season in 2002 with Drew Bledsoe in Buffalo. The Answer thinks that Price was sabotaged last season from the word go. He was nothing more than an 'insurance' policy and Parcells never wanted him here. And even when he had a chance to play and showed something in the 2nd philly game, Crayton was ready to come back. Seems to be a disturbing trend....take away Bledsoe and mediorcre players show their true colors...something to think about.

3. Calling guys with yet unrealized potential "poor man's (insert player)".
4. Posting entire posts in "caps lock".
5. Making our draft picks into hall of famers before they've played a down.
6. Making our draft picks into turds before they've played a down.

Thanks I feel better.;)

PC will be the number 3 WR. Green will compete for the 4 spot and be our KR.

Crayton makes the team hands down.
