My brother is a Raiders fan and I never let him forget that one.

Or where they passed on drafting Diggs for another cornerback who’s already flamed out of the league.
It has only been 40 years for the Raiders.

Gil Brandt was talked out of drafting Joe Montana. They selected Doug Cosbie. As they had Danny White at QB.
Whoever talked him out of it deserved a sound thrashing.
That was a blunder that shall forever live in infamy!

Picking Taco over Watt was probably the dumbest move I've ever seen. And I've seen a lot!! LOL
Yep because that one was one everyone knew. Humphrey became a great player but if everyone knew he would develope like he did he wouldn’t have fallen into the 60’s. Watt was a stud and everyone knew it but some teams got wrapped up into the idea he was just a 3-4 LB when in fact he could have played in any system

Johnny Unitas 9th rd pick and was cut by the Steelers.
Joe Montana 3rd rd
Tom Brady 6th rd

One could make an argument that those were the three Greatest QBs of all time
NO one thought they would be what they became

There has been a lot over the years. But the thing most forget is every team does that not just the Cowboys.

Every team in the league is kicking themselves for passing on Tom Brady several times.

Specifically for the Cowboys, it's hard to believe that passing on Randy Moss isn't #1 on the list.
With how Randy’s career turned out after he left Minny, I was aight with it. Dude never really
matured and never won anything. Was never a real leader to any of his teams

I think his current team just made him the highest paid center in his team’s history. We took the rapper who did zero. That miss still pisses me off.

What are some of the ones that really piss you guys off? Taco vs TJ watt is another one that really chaps my, well, you know.
Nothing beats Marcus Spears over Aaron Rodgers. Whoever we drafted instead of Dan Marino.

I stopped this exercise after the 1996 draft. We needed a DE and Tony Brackins from Texas fell right into our laps. As the clock ticked, I remember clearly saying out loud with no one else in the room, "Don't get cute, take Brackins." Then I was saying "OMG, take Brackins!" tick, tock, tick tock... "TAKE BRACKINS!!!"

Of course, we traded the pick to the skins for two picks that would become Kavika Pittman and Clay Shriver. Brackins went to Jacksonville and became an All-Pro (second team 1999). Ever since that day, when we do something abysmally stupid on draft day, I just shrug.

Not taking Humphrey didn’t bother me as much as actually taking Joseph. That was forced after they missed on Surtain and Horn, and was all but admitted. You’d have thought they learned from doing that with Hill.

One that bothers me though is last years second round….NO, it’s not even about the actual selection as much as it’s about passing on O’Cyrus Torrence. He was a plug and play LG but “didn’t fit the scheme” supposedly. Which scheme? The one where you win your matchup?

While they have had some nice payoffs on day three, they have really blown some premium picks lately, and why they are in the bind they are in given the resources used to build the roster.

the late 90's draft were pretty bad. Actually 95-01. We got only three true quality players: Dexter Coakley, Flozell Adams and Greg Ellis
OUT OF SEVEN DRAFTS

Trysten Hill was dead in the water the moment you took him. Still have no idea why he was viewed a superior prospect with all his baggage than the guys who went immediately after him: Taylor Rapp, Juan Thornhill, DK Metcalf, Diontae Johnson… Dre’Mont Jones and Kalen Saunders we the next 2 DTs off the board and started a combined 33 games last season.

I’ve questioned Cowboys picks before (what was even the point of Schoonmaker? You don’t take a 25 yo, injured, blocking specialist with a second round pick)… but I’ve never outright claimed a dude is a bust waiting to happen. Hill was an easy call
If only he'd been a fireman.
