They had a high scoring offense.
He is part of the entire puzzle to win. You can't deny how he helped. Well, one can, but that is delusional.
So you sacrifice a proven top 5, if not top 3 offense, and was the top for a while. Not sure where they ended up at. In order to TRY to improve the defense, which was injured all year.
So what is the difference with a. say, #3 offense, and defense that will be improved without Eberflus, and will be (hopefully) healthy. If they are at #20
Or a #15 ranked offense and a #15 ranked defense.
I con
Are you saying that the Cowboys let's just go to 2023 to start with this debate where was the offense ranked that year with no true WR2 with not a strong running game with a offensive scheme, that did not really marry the run to the pass much,
which I say right now we're better off in this offense and this scheme that we were in 2023, but where was the ranking in 2023, no amari Cooper, no george Pickens? i bet really high...
Are you saying that Prescott multiple times in his career has been part of the top five offense, a couple were number one in many categories, but top three in many other categories, without George Pickens,
yes George Pickens was part of last year and last year the Cowboys had a losing record...
I don't want to hear about the defense and all the other real reasons we probably didn't make the playoffs, but we had a losing record with him on the team, and we can discuss some of the droughts in the second half of not scoring, and also blame the defense a little, but George Pickens was part of some less than stellar second half production for this offense.
And I get it ,
it wasn't him it really wasn't the offense, but there's times where people question the play calling, and the scoring in the second half And there was a couple games to start the season and a couple games late in the season where George Pickens was pulling a little bit of that Amari Cooper thing ,where when you weren't feeding him the ball, he kind of Lost his focus didn't seem to want to play, Didn't seem very motivated...
Again,
you said he was part of that positive, well so was Prescott and Lamb, are the only consistent players I know that before George arrived already had multiple years having top offenses ,and having high production..
Prescott did not only become an MVP candidate in my eyes last year also 2021 coming off an injury he threw 37 touchdowns with ten interceptions in 2023 another really good year, both without Amari Cooper/Pickens ,He set his rookie year he did not have two superstar receivers and if it wasn't for the defense, they'd have probably went to the NFC championship game that year the offense played great with two rookies on it, there was no George Pickens and no Cooper on that team.
I don't lose George but I don't think you're seeing the big picture saving over $30 million and getting a first-round pick that can be turned into multiple picks is a only asset the Cowboys have that can help accelerate getting this team better next year
They will get A WR 2 in the draft hopefully Flournoy and and some of the other guys on this team can hold down the Fort and compete for that spot until the rookie catches up if he ever does there is no guarantees you're right...
