Current cap space

I believe so; but there is a specific amount you have to spend each year
Correct they can carry it all over, but have a floor.

While carryover itself has no direct limit, it interacts with the NFL's cash spending requirements (a "floor" to prevent chronic underspending):
  • Team Minimum: Each team must spend at least 90% of the salary cap (averaged over a multi-year period: 2024–2026, 2027–2030) in actual cash payments to players.
  • League-Wide Minimum: The entire league must collectively spend at least 95% of the total cap in cash over the same periods.
  • Penalties for Non-Compliance: Violations can result in fines up to $5 million, contract cancellations, or loss of draft picks. This discourages teams from indefinitely hoarding cap space without spending.

so sad, the patriots are set up for success while we are set up for who knows what.
Because
1. The Patriots don't run their org like a circus
2. They have a clear vision of what they want to be a team that plays solid complimentary football and hard nosed defense.
3. They are not stuck with an abatross contract being doled out to an average player.

current cap space means little
what is important are guaranteed money coming up and what players are in line to be extended

though right now Pickens and Aubrey are the only ones that deserve it
Well... we'll see how it's used, if at all this year knowing them. Don't forget Williams as well will be an interesting re-signing.

Well, it could be worse. We could have no cap space available and no draft picks but we have a lot of both so potential to improve the roster pretty significantly while already having a potent offense. Weather we actually utilize those resources properly the next few years is of course the question but whether through luck or wisdom, we not in the worst of spots.

If DUFUS Jones re-structure contracts. Cut a couple of non -worthy players. Dallas has plenty of money to sign Pick. We as fans just have to realize we have the dumbest-stupidest- laziest- no doing nothing-lying azz-organization in sports. Until this changes. We are screwed as Cowboy fans.

Like they haven't signed 4 or five guys this year like re sign like up their contracts... He made quite a few moves this year already to make that look better so why would you think they would spend it now before they even have a full outlook on who the defensive coordinator might be next year why would you spend money now They've already done it so many contracts I forgot all of them...

So yeah they have the money next year 'cause they have other guys like Aubrey possibly Williams possibly George Pickens These are all possibilities but you need to know who's staying who's going and what your defensive coordinator's gonna look like next year to know where the money needs to be appropriated you don't just don't spend it because you have it I only use about 15% of my total available credit my credit cards should I just go out and blow it Just upgrade everything in my house buy a new car which all my vehicles are paid off and I just get a new car just to have one even though the one I have is perfectly fine for doing what I do?

Tell me I don't make sense think about it they don't know what the team makeup is going to be next year so why spend the money or the draft picks until you get in the next year's offseason and see who might stay and who goes and what type of defense you might be running you need to have that information before you spend the money..

Be the dumbest move ever for them to go out and use those draft picks they gave up for Parsons to try to fix a sinking ship on defense we are not a Parsons away it'll look just like it does over with Miles Gary if Parsons was here he would help our defense look better but it still would be lipstick on a pig and we still have the same record..

What's the difference of signing players now or signing them later like why do we need to extend Aubrey now or Williams or Pickens we need to see what else we might need the money will be there the draft picks will still be there I think they need a better outlook on what this team is going to be for 2026 before they start making moves..

But I would like to see though is as soon as the season's over get that stuff done early February March you should be thinking about go ahead extend Aubrey start talking to Pickens and Williams and get that started very early in the process but not knowing what your defense is next year you gotta keep as much money and draft picks as possible if you don't get that I can't explain it anymore..

That what we do best! We love our guys!

Exactly and they 'd be smart to hold on to it we need to know what the defense needs next year it's gonna be a major purge and we don't know if we're gonna have the same defensive coordinator if they wanna switch to a 34 or a full 43 I mean you gotta know what you need before you start blowing your money apart You need to keep your draft resources and you need to do this over next offseason a lot of it Anybody who thinks we should patch a hole in a sinking ship when there's six more holes and do something this year with the money and the draft picks it just doesn't make any sense..

But that is a positive thing I think it was posted to make fun of Jerry for not using it now but they've made so many moves this year to get that extra money and those extra draft picks those moves were already made they were not intended to make further moves that is for this offseason..

I can't remember everybody but they at least extended and resigned six players this year.... That is why we have extra money and they traded Parsons for the extra draft picks these are things that will be used for 2026...

Dallas has over 125 million if they re-structure their top players money. Any fan that listens or believes lying Stephen Jones whining about Dallas has no money need to be lobotomized.
Or already has been “lobotomized”.

Patriots are set again. Have a franchise QB, a coach in right spot, and tons of cap room.
You know what some of that might be true but you looking ahead is ridiculous as we said how Washington looked last year and now look they're having a little bit of a slump and they're struggling they went to a championship in their first year with their new shiny quarterback They had what looked like a good scheme and a head coach and a team ready to go right ready to launch baby...

Not even we're talking about that with the Falcons early in the year like Oh my God look at that offense Young new quarterback great running back really good tight end that's supposed to be generational blah blah blah this is what we hear don't get sold a bill of goods just because of what it looks like this year they would need to do this like 3 years in a row This should be something they build on and then we can make a decision but saying they're set no they're not set they just look good for 2025....

Same thing for Denver they've been looking for that for a long time that doesn't mean they're set it means they're really good in 2026 lots of things can happen...

I mean look what happened to the Giants injuries can do that they look like they found a really good running back in the 4th round It looked like they had a top five wide receiver and then all of a sudden what happened Major injuries...

Besides the fact that you don't know the other side of the ball is that going to stay good or not we've seen great offenses end up getting neutralize because their defense isn't that good..

But yeah I see why you would say that so is the Denver Broncos the New England Patriots they look pretty solid but I never look ahead to the next year too many things happen in the NFL from year to year to saying somebody is set..

You always find the need to jump to your own conclusions and draw assumptions from thin air.

Did I say they were going to spend it now or that they should sign anyone now or use any draft picks for anything?

Reading is fundamental. I only addressed the players presented in the previous post and added Williams as another player to also have in mind when trying to guess what this FO would use the funds on now or later. That's it.

Now if you're asking the question about signing now vs later... the answer is there is no benefit now unless the FO knows for sure they want Pickens or Williams long term. In that case, you could gamble and guess what the outcome of this year would be specific to their performances and forecast appropriately for their contracts. Possibly you could save some funds but at this point, I don't really see much savings either so I agree with you on that point.

Signing Aubrey now, might save a little incase another kicker is up for being re-signed, but everyone knows he will be paid as the #1 kicker so why not get that out of the way now.

I also would like to see decisions made decisively after the year vs what usually happens in delaying and doing things at the last minute. Another area I do agree with you on.
