Current cap space

It's not the biggest but it's up there. If he threatened to hold out, they should have let him. It's hard enough to win in this league. Shooting yourself in the foot just makes that much harder.
My biggest issues with the situation was A) They should have seen that his play was declining. B) He had been treated favorably his entire career. He wasn't a player who'd missed out on significant contracts & this was his only shot.
Sit down & explain that if he gets to the end of the contract and has some tread left, he'll be taken care of. If he doesn't have any tread left, he'll be taken care of with other opportunities outside football.

Lawrence held his space well. He was tough against the run. He was part of a rush that pressured opposing quarterbacks. He just got too expensive in projecting at his then current age.

We were talking about Martin.

yeah, they should have stuck to their guns.
For sure. But he was nice about it, so Jerry caved because Martin didn't pull any Little Michael drama.

In the end, Parsons screwed himself because he loses out on endorsements and the taxes are different in Wiscaaansin.

If DUFUS Jones re-structure contracts. Cut a couple of non -worthy players. Dallas has plenty of money to sign Pick. We as fans just have to realize we have the dumbest-stupidest- laziest- no doing nothing-lying azz-organization in sports. Until this changes. We are screwed as Cowboy fans.
A person would have a really hard time convincing me that Stephen has the capabilities to run our salary cap beyond the basic things.

Dallas has over 125 million if they re-structure their top players money. Any fan that listens or believes lying Stephen Jones whining about Dallas has no money need to be lobotomized.
This coming offseason we will hear nothing from this front office but “we have no cap space” even though it runs completely contrary to reality.

They could add a huge amount of talent to this team, but refuse to offseason after offseason. It truly makes no sense.

The Cowboys are currently $10 million over the CAP for 2026, and a projected effective CAP space of -$24 million. I suspect Dallas will restructure Lamb and Tyler Smith to free up some room and we'll see what that carryover looks like. But they may need that carryover to sign some of their own players again.

so sad, the patriots are set up for success while we are set up for who knows what.
Patriots have an unbelievably soft schedule. Might be the softest in NFL History.

Why can't people figure it out?

Good thread, man the Patriots are set up nicely w/ cap space, young players, a good record this season, 2nd year QB ballin, and Kraft hired a good HC in Vrabel. Kudos!

I wanted Vrabel to at least get an interview in Dallas, and Slater said he really wanted one.

Between this money and draft picks the defense can be rebuilt in one off season.
It does but remember we have the Jones at the helm. They will beat around the bush in FA then jump in when there are just scraps left and sign a few has been's. He will find a way to screw this draft and take another Mazi in the 1st. Im praying for a miracle lol
you can bet the Eagles have less to work with but they will load up

Because
1. The Patriots don't run their org like a circus
2. They have a clear vision of what they want to be a team that plays solid complimentary football and hard nosed defense.
3. They are not stuck with an abatross contract being doled out to an average player.
And don't underestimate Vrabel. Although that was probably what you meant by #2.
