Current Enthusiasm Level?

[Verdict]

I am just curious how my die hard Cowboys friends are feeling about the current and longer term prospects of the Cowboys.

1. I am not approaching this year as “this is our year”. It does not seem to be, and it’s shaping up to not be our year this decade.

2. Dak is just good enough to get you to about a .500 team. He’s probably going to win enough to eliminate a good draft pick but not be good enough to press for a SB.

3. Dak’s salary is a huge albatross.

4. Parsons is a fabulous player but let’s be real. He’s not worthy of a QB cap hit. Love the player but trade him for more assets and cap relief.

5. I like Shotty in the longer term. I like him in the short term but he will make mistakes and this team cannot carry him.

6. About the only thing that gives me any hope of a .500 season is the WR corps and Blue and other rookie back.

7. DT still seems deficient.

8. Jerry is going to have to work really hard to get me to eat the cheese this year.

9. About all we have going for us this year is that expectations seem to be pretty low overall.

I will watch with hopefulness but don’t expect a playoff appearance. I have been conditioned for mediocre results from another poorly built team that has no depth. Just keep me interested until Thanksgiving at least

Obviously Parsons factors very large in the effectiveness of the D . The problem coming is players like Overshown Revel Butler Diggs are all needed but nowhere close to coming back .

The offense all depends up front . I’m sorry to report but to be elite this OL needs a T drafted in either round 1 or 2 next April .

I think they will do better than most think. I think they will make the playoffs.
They need to win in the early part of the schedule though.

Whatever level of enthusiasm fans have will likely change after the Eagles game. If it's a close loss, we will all feel better. On the other hand.........

We have a lot of work to do, I think we need to slow down on the antics at practice and just work on things that were serious problem areas. All that running around and playing is cool at a team function, but not on the field who knows

I think Shotty is going to remind everyone why he would not have sniffed another HC job.

I think the poor DTs will really hurt.

I think the Pickens, Bland, and Parsons contract situations will become distractions.

I think Guyton is going to be terrible so the tackle situation will be bad.

I think the schedule is pretty tough.

I think Diggs is going to be a big distraction.

I think the NFCE is no longer easy.

I think the Jones way is fully exposed now and it’s going to get worse.

After MM's 2nd year of 12-5 and then a wild card exit it's been the same level of lets see how it goes.

Another year where weaknesses remained weaknesses from the previous year.
30+mil in cap space.
Owner has another media outing with another contract extension dragging into August.

* Our league's highest-paid QB is only good for 500 ball
* We should trade our best player
* Our new rookie HC will be a liability

Honestly this is the least excited I have been as an adult...in my 20s I would have been counting down the minutes until kickoff...in my 30s counting down the days....now im just wondering if im going to turn off the eagles game by halftime because they are getting blown out.

I am excited for the new coaching staff and players but realize this is a rebuilding year with an impossible schedule and feel they will be lucky to get to 7 wins.

Also the Jerry and micha saga over the past two weeks has literaly sucked any enthusiasm and energy if had.

I agree totally, man in my years that you've stated, i'd made me sick to my stomach to see us lose, 30's, bothered me, but was starting to see the light, 40's, man it's just another game to me. I can take a loss, but it's HOW we lose!

Pretty low. Not expecting a good season but hoping for one. It'll go up when football gets closer in a bit over 3 weeks

From snap 1 it's same old same old. Not a starter on the field. Just back ups and also rands just going through the motions of putting things down on tape. A true indicator of "culture change" would have been dak and the boys for at least a qtr. Parsons deal would have been done or at least a trade worked out last season.
I'm afraid they've set us up again for failure. The jones boys have sucked the enjoyment of being a fan right out of me. Win, lose, doesn't matter. I think the one thing that might move the fan meter is the boys dropping to 2nd on the franchise value chart. Maybe a half full stadium.
