Current Enthusiasm Level?

You're excited for the new coaching staff? LMAO.
Yup, its a fresh change and the coordinators and assistants also look great...let me guess you are one of those guys calling shotty a puppet coach and saying hes only got a last name? Why not give the guy a chance? Sometimes people fit better in certain roles than other roles.

And hey...if he sucks, well at least we will have a much better draft pick to get daks replacement next year or the year after

I have zero expectations. Zero enthusiasm. Zero illusions. The team could make the playoffs but will at best get bounced in the divisional. They could miss the playoffs too. We just don't know.

Hope springs eternal is a phrase often muttered but never realized in almost 40 years. Years ago my son and I flew to San Antonio from Virginia to attend training camp. It was Parcells first year. Romo was a rookie. Quincy was the starter.

We watched a much younger Jerry Jones blow smoke up our kiester at the opening press conference. Was all smoke and mirrors. The constant being Jerry as owner and GM has not changed since then.

I have zero expectations because Jerry remains in charge. No sane person should think any different. A fish rots at the head and the head of this fish is Jerry. It's not a Dak issue, its a Jerry issue. His hands are all over this.

I am just curious how my die hard Cowboys friends are feeling about the current and longer term prospects of the Cowboys.

1. I am not approaching this year as “this is our year”. It does not seem to be, and it’s shaping up to not be our year this decade.

2. Dak is just good enough to get you to about a .500 team. He’s probably going to win enough to eliminate a good draft pick but not be good enough to press for a SB.

3. Dak’s salary is a huge albatross.

4. Parsons is a fabulous player but let’s be real. He’s not worthy of a QB cap hit. Love the player but trade him for more assets and cap relief.

5. I like Shotty in the longer term. I like him in the short term but he will make mistakes and this team cannot carry him.

6. About the only thing that gives me any hope of a .500 season is the WR corps and Blue and other rookie back.

7. DT still seems deficient.

8. Jerry is going to have to work really hard to get me to eat the cheese this year.

9. About all we have going for us this year is that expectations seem to be pretty low overall.
I turned the first preseason game off at halftime, I never do that. 60 years of football and I never do that. Jerry turned his team into a dumpster show ,in my opinion. I keep giving him the benefit of the doubt and nothing changes, except failure. Yes, he puts a 50-50 winning product able to win any given Sunday . But that’s not a championship quality, and that’s what I expect from the star greatness.

I am not sold on Schotty. Garrett was good at coach speak but was not real. Need to see if Schotty is real and it will take time. I do agree with the rest of your points.

Some folks would say this is a dumpster fire. I disagree. A dumpster fire at least kills the smell inside the dumpster. There are worse things then a dumpster fire and this one may be it. Above said, I think we have done a good bit more this year then last year during the off season. I swear Jerry was AWOL last year in its entirety and it showed. We often had a team that wasn't competitive and its been a long time since I've seen that. Agree with what other said. Dak's contract and the upcoming Parson's contract coupled with Lambs contract keeps us from being competitive. I have no issue with Lamb's contract. He is worth his salary in every way.

where have you gone coach landry.
cowboys nation turn our lonely eyes to you...

I am not quitting. I want to see the shock on Coin Flip Jerry's face in his Box.

I will support the Cowboys and mock GM Jethro at the same time.
Saying you will support the Cowboys then doing the exact opposite? Sounds a little two-faced.

Never seen so many whiney cry babies so bent because they’re not getting what they want. They want it and they want it now or they’ll let you know.

I see an 8 win team that will struggle on defense and have issues at OT

Whilst I agree with most of what you've said, you post this after the first pre-season game where we play a basic scheme with predominantly a bunch of JAG's.
If you take Pt.5 and trust in the longer term, then you could, for argument sake, view 2025 as season where we've got the pieces (ON THE OFFENSIVE SIDE OF THE BALL), to at least show that it's the side of the ball to base an ALL-IN push in 2026-27.
Put winning out of your head, forget the three 12-5 seasons, view this year as the real test as to whether there are foundations to build.

The proof is in the pudding.

If we lose the opener, will adjustments be made and show through in the next game?

I think Pickens and Lamb will be exciting as long as Dak is healthy. I think the defense will get my heart racing as it tries to keep opponents from scoring 30+ every game
