Current Enthusiasm Level?

Let me get this right
* Our league's highest-paid QB is only good for 500 ball
* We should trade our best player
* Our new rookie HC will be a liability

I think you answered the question yourself V (LOL)
Yeah, not quite like 1993.

I will watch with hopefulness but don’t expect a playoff appearance. I have been conditioned for mediocre results from another poorly built team that has no depth. Just keep me interested until Thanksgiving at least :muttley:
This sums it up pretty well imo.

Haven't felt good about the team since late in the 2023 season when we lost to Miami and Buffalo. Expecting 6 wins this season the roster just isn't very good.

If Dak stays healthy, I expect 8-10 wins and squeak into a wild card. They have never had a losing record when Prescott makes it through the season.

That’s a big if with this OL. I expect him to make it maybe week 3 and the wheels start to fall off.

Offense should score 30+ easily every week.

Defense is going to be Mike Nolan bad

It's going to be an ugly season. If they somehow play up to their very best and the coaching is, uh better than mediocre, probably a 9-8 season. If it goes the Jerry is shocked at how they underperformed wild ride, 6-11. I said 9-8 trying to be optimistic. But I know that realistically this team will be below that.

Offense is going to score a lot with ease

If the defense makes a few stops or gets takeaways they will win a few they should not have

From snap 1 it's same old same old. Not a starter on the field. Just back ups and also rands just going through the motions of putting things down on tape. A true indicator of "culture change" would have been dak and the boys for at least a qtr. Parsons deal would have been done or at least a trade worked out last season.
I'm afraid they've set us up again for failure. The jones boys have sucked the enjoyment of being a fan right out of me. Win, lose, doesn't matter. I think the one thing that might move the fan meter is the boys dropping to 2nd on the franchise value chart. Maybe a half full stadium.
Let the suckage begin...
Best post of your career!!!!!!!

I hate seeing that "going to score with ease, we got micah and whoever else, HOW YOU GONNA STOP THAT, it's EASY!! When we play against a team that schemes against us or has a player on defense that can disrupt thing all game long like we WISH micah could, then that's when we have issues. Or if we have a team that just runs the ball down our throat all game then boom! There's not a lot of things that come with EASE on this team except money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My concerns are in order:
  1. Def line, esp DT - Stopping the run has been a chronic problem for this team for a while and I have big doubts this season things will change.
  2. Off line - Guyton may or may not develop into a starter and we seem to be relying on this. Depth is a big concern and IMO L. Collins doesn’t have much left.
  3. Will we have a great running game, something that keeps Dak from having to throw 40+ times a game?
With no help from the FO for two off seasons now, esp compared to how elite organizations operate plus the unnecessary team distractions of the Micah deal being negotiated in August instead of March/April has to affect morale.

For some reason this memory popped in my head when I read the thread title.

"We had joy, we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the wine and the song
Like the seasons, have all gone"

THIS.

This is what’s frustrating as a fan. They approach the preseason like we have Mahomes, Hurts, Jackson or Allen.

New coach, new OC, Dak hasn’t played in forever. But let’s take it slow and not get reps? Hell Burrow played multiple snaps

well that's because Dak is better than all of these guys can't you tell by how much he's paid!!!!!! JK, I agree, let him go for a series what would it hurt to get some rust off, just tell the o-line to FIRE OFF and not get our qb dismantled

I have been pleasently suprised by Coach Schotty. We will see when live bullets come. We have seen a ton of guys who "win" the press conference be trainwrecks, but I wasn't expecting to like him at all. I sort of do so far.

I have no hopes for a title run this year. It may be bad. It may be average. For me, this year is hoping the 24 draft continues to improve and the 25 draft pans out. If both of those things happen and you have another good draft next year than maybe you have something. It would help if the FO would be a little proactive though.

My hopes will always be dimmed with a Stephen and Jerry led organization. Just not sure you can win that way.

The team has made it to the playoffs five of the seven years Dak Prescott finished the season. Dallas ended up with nine and eight wins for the 2017 and 2019 'healthy' Prescott seasons, respectively. Those were two non-playoff seasons of 9-7 and 8-8, respectively. If previous data holds any merit, it should be assumed that Dallas will not reach the postseason with fewer than ten wins--even with Prescott making it through the season relatively unscathed.

I am just curious how my die hard Cowboys friends are feeling about the current and longer term prospects of the Cowboys.

1. I am not approaching this year as “this is our year”. It does not seem to be, and it’s shaping up to not be our year this decade.

2. Dak is just good enough to get you to about a .500 team. He’s probably going to win enough to eliminate a good draft pick but not be good enough to press for a SB.

3. Dak’s salary is a huge albatross.

4. Parsons is a fabulous player but let’s be real. He’s not worthy of a QB cap hit. Love the player but trade him for more assets and cap relief.

5. I like Shotty in the longer term. I like him in the short term but he will make mistakes and this team cannot carry him.

6. About the only thing that gives me any hope of a .500 season is the WR corps and Blue and other rookie back.

7. DT still seems deficient.

8. Jerry is going to have to work really hard to get me to eat the cheese this year.

9. About all we have going for us this year is that expectations seem to be pretty low overall.
I'm fired up, time to quit the chatter, speculating, kissing their butts or hating on EVERYTHING! Strap em on and enjoy the season. Win or lose, I just love football and will call out haters, just for fun.

I am looking forward to the 2026 draft. But I am losing enthusiasm for that as well. I think this will be a bad year for Dallas again.

What's the over-under for Schottenheimer getting fired?

I haven't felt bad about losing games for two years now. Used to after loss my Monday was miserable. There's a freedom in that
