Current Enthusiasm Level?

Mine is the same it was last year, the same it was this off season and before any TC or pre season games. There is no reason to be excited about this team, for another 2-3 years.

Current enthusiasm?

Making the playoffs is our Super Bowl.

I think we have a playoff caliber team.

But it’s not good enough to make any noise.

I am just curious how my die hard Cowboys friends are feeling about the current and longer term prospects of the Cowboys.

1. I am not approaching this year as “this is our year”. It does not seem to be, and it’s shaping up to not be our year this decade.

2. Dak is just good enough to get you to about a .500 team. He’s probably going to win enough to eliminate a good draft pick but not be good enough to press for a SB.

3. Dak’s salary is a huge albatross.

4. Parsons is a fabulous player but let’s be real. He’s not worthy of a QB cap hit. Love the player but trade him for more assets and cap relief.

5. I like Shotty in the longer term. I like him in the short term but he will make mistakes and this team cannot carry him.

6. About the only thing that gives me any hope of a .500 season is the WR corps and Blue and other rookie back.

7. DT still seems deficient.

8. Jerry is going to have to work really hard to get me to eat the cheese this year.

9. About all we have going for us this year is that expectations seem to be pretty low overall.
I liked your post when I read #4 but then took it back when I read #5

Good take, I agree mostly, except Parsons. He is special.

But yeah, this team is .500 tops

I’m just preparing myself for how much of a kick in the nether regions this team is going to subject me to this year.

I’m not too enthusiastic about it ‘cause it hurts.

Honestly this is the least excited I have been as an adult...in my 20s I would have been counting down the minutes until kickoff...in my 30s counting down the days....now im just wondering if im going to turn off the eagles game by halftime because they are getting blown out.

I am excited for the new coaching staff and players but realize this is a rebuilding year with an impossible schedule and feel they will be lucky to get to 7 wins.

Also the Jerry and micha saga over the past two weeks has literaly sucked any enthusiasm and energy if had.
You're excited for the new coaching staff? LMAO.

SS DD... yawn

Even before all the recent drama, I projected an 8-9 record. That still sounds about right...

:flagwave:

I am excited about the start of the season. I always am.
Not just to see how the season unfolds for the Cowboys, and all the changes.
But for the entire NFL in general.

It does not matter my expectations, as I am not expecting any miracles. But I will enjoy the progress of the coaching staff and younger players and the team.
Oh, I am sure some frustration will set in. But then we can start talking when do they tank for that better draft pick.

I can't say I am enthusiastic on having a great season. As I said, not expecting any miracles. But football is back, so time to enjoy the games.
Yeah, I'm more interested in just the league itself. On Sundays, my significant other watches the kids and I go over to my brother's place and we switch back and forth between all the games (he has the big bucks and buys Sunday ticket).

We usually order some pizza and ice down some beers and just hang out all afternoon before I head back home. It's pretty much the only chance I get to spend some time with my brother between work and home and the kids.

So that is what I am mainly looking forward to this fall, as far as the Cowboys go I really dont care all the much if they win or lose. If they win, great, if they lose, I just laugh and go about my day.

I am pretty indifferent these days when it comes to pro sports in general. Having kids really does change your outlook and perspective on life.

It doesn’t take brain science to understand where this team is headed………..again.

THIS.

This is what’s frustrating as a fan. They approach the preseason like we have Mahomes, Hurts, Jackson or Allen.

New coach, new OC, Dak hasn’t played in forever. But let’s take it slow and not get reps? Hell Burrow played multiple snaps
It’s a mentality weak organization.

They fear injury to key players and the prospect of that happening would crush any false hopes Jerry & Company have for the upcoming season.

The FO just wants to remain relevant. So why take a chance?
