The Cowboys aren’t looking for a starter, they are looking for a swing tackle. Additionally, they are adamant about giving their young players as many opportunities as they can in training camp. While they may not be the final answer by the start of the new season, there is no reason to bring a veteran in right now.

right, you have a recording of the Facetime convo you had with them, that was yesterday's thought races today they want a VET starter at LT no way that opinion you shot out is accurate.

i mean unless soy have Stehpen or Jerry on speed dial show us the proof ...

No way Ball or Waltz was penciled in as a starter in case of an emergency, NOPE.. they've been looking for VET swing that eventually was coming in and now they need TWO viable candidates not Ball or Waltz.
I guarantee they will bring in at least one by Wednesday or sooner. lots of cut downs coming and its trade type of atmosphere during 53 man cut down week.

The Cowboys don’t have to sign anyone to address the line. But, if they don’t, they’re absolutely not concerned with playing for a ring. Teams chasing Super Bowls don’t sit on $20M while their team has major, glaring holes.

Injuries and likely isn’t healthy. Teams likely don’t want to guarantee the contract
maybe but player in the game players start compromising 2 weeks until game 1 these vets start taking deals less than what they hoped. its an easy fix no need to guarantee it but they can offer smaller base and many ways if they safety healthy and how many snaps they play to nearly double the salary in bonus'...ie escalators.

not now no way LT was weak spot for Steele you dont hurt two positions with all the switching go get a LT or TWO and let them work their way in. if it becomes an issue then you play musical chairs but NOT to start the season. a true LT is needed.

not sure what Wynn is like but if you can trade a player we are long on that might not make the cuts and trade him to NE for wynn..this might be the time.
I keeping hearing Wynn’s name. Why would the Patriots trade him? What would they want?

Jason Peters is terrible at pass protection, always has been. Fat run blocker is all he ever was. Has to be one of the most over rated players in NFL history.

The Cowboys should trade for a tackle and sign one as well. The problem is Uncle Scrooge and Donald think they know better. This is gonna be like 2020 everything will stay in house with the offensive line.

I believe Fisher, Davenport or Solder remain massive upgrades over Ball at this point.
I don't think Solder is. He looked pretty bad last year from my recollection.

Don't know about the other two.

Want to be surprised if the front office is timid especially given the situation

There's a huge difference between pitching to a left tackle free agent hey you're just going to be depth maybe fill in a few games versus hey we're legitimately signing you to possibly start 17 full games at arguably the number two most valuable position in the entire sport

It reminds me of the Jason Peters situation a few years back. They signed him pretty cheap to play guard and possibly be back up left tackle and when their starter went down and training camp and the situation became hey Jason you might need to start the full season at left tackle he went "yeah I'm not touching that unless you pay me at least 10 million a year" and that was a guy that was already on the roster let alone a free agent

In all likelihood at this stage, there are probably no really good answers. Tough ask to bring in someone so late into camp and be fine at LT. That is a lot to ask. There is getting back into football shape, learning the system, learning to play next to a very green rookie at LG, etc.

I guess with all the unused cap space we have, I would probably look for one of those veterans not with a team. But just don't expect much. Count yourself very lucky if you get league average LT play. That is probably a stretch though.

You must not pay much attention. That money is already allocated to 3 of our guys who are going to want big money contracts.
