The most valuable position on a football team is the QB the next valuable is the LT. We're not going to find one on the open market this late in the game folks. Ball is our guy.

If we know the way McClay and company work they are looking at younger OT’s in camps as we speak hoping to make a trade. Fish is a no brainer but they probably won’t go that route because they hate old dudes.

- Jason Peters ? ..A 38 something year old 330+ pounder that hasn't been in any offseason program this year, no camp, no mini, and he's an option ?

- Fisher? He hasn't been same since his achilles tear injury and he's probably has a higher than desired asking price
but he probably is the best vet option out there.

- Soldier was bad.. ! .Pats apparently knew what they were doing when they parted with him.
I'm not at all for moving Martin to RT anymore. We flat did not have anyone else at all available, outside rookie when we did that
and i think that's more of a strain on a 30+ age vet having him outside.

Plus did we hear that Martin wasn't for moving there again anymore ?

And correction: Jason Peters is 40 years ...not age 38. And an inactive and sitting on the couch at that ?
Meh, i really hate those odds and that option.

Agree, and need to be in here yesterday.

Or a trade for Isaiah Wynn would be even better.

I don't think Wynn is the long term answer. I wouldn't give up more than a 6th round pick for him. The Cowboys will need their draft picks to find Tyron's replacement.

we have had draft picks over the last 5 years to replace Tyron, and up until the other Smith was just drafted we have pretty much ignored the position and have tried to put lipstick on a pig instead.....

You just spent a 1st on a tackle--presumably he is the future. Wynn can play guard too, though. So you can plug him at LT on slide him over when Tyler is ready.

Wynn is a much younger option, but a much more expensive one as well. (about $10 million) million
This is the move I'd make now.
May need to wait til this weekend but I'd go ahead and pay the freight to get Wynn in as a 1 year stop gap.
They have the 10M and can surrender a late pick or a DL.

Wynn is one a 1 year deal so likely a stop gap but yes, the plan is Tyler long-term so 10M and a late pick is a fine cost to keep the season afloat.

But my guess is they decide after watching Tyler Smith Friday night.

yea am hoping by this they mean looking Friday night....
then you set initial roster and then post that IR someone and add an OT to a freed up slot.
If Pats want an R5 for Wynn they can keep him an extra day to get it imo.

Solder has not been with the Pats since 2017...

Jason Peters is 40. Ib 2021 played OG and LT and was on IR for some games. He gave up 8 sacks.

According to this site:
Nate Solder
Bryan Bulaga
Eric Fisher

to name a few.

None of these are great options. Solder is awful. Bulaga is injury prone himself. Fisher was not his best last year so the question is, is he in decline or just in need of a change of scenery. I would definitely look at Bulaga and Fisher and see what that want. I just read that Jerry thinks the Cowboys will fill Tyron's spot with someone on the roster.

Want some good news, if you can call it that? The injury is at the knee and not the buttocks. This means Tyron could get back in 4 or 5 months instead of 6 to 8. But I seriously doubt he comes back at all. Maybe he is ready for the last game of the season but why bother at that point?

What a shock.

Ball isn’t it. Waletzko isn’t it. Smith? Still learning and has a bad ankle. But let’s put him at LT with two weeks before the first game. What could go wrong???

Mike likes his guys over some fat *** sitting on his couch looking for one last contract.

Our real options are

Tyler Smith
Josh Ball
Matt Waletzko
Aviante Collins

Collins sucks. They need to try Smith at LT Friday night. Waletzko is not the answer to me. They are gambling with him and his shoulder. Another fail by Dallas. He had that injury in college and reinjured it in camp. It was a dislocation and until he has surgery I think he is going to have more problems with it. I think Dallas was willing to gamble because they did not think he would have to play every week. I think if he does, chances are he reinjures the shoulder. This was a bad job by the Cowboys medical team. He should have been off to surgery already. If the Cowboys had a real backup plan he would have been.

Ball is a decent run blocker. His pass protection is inconsistent. He struggles with quick moves, blitzes and stunts. Maybe he improves with time as he becomes accustomed to the speed of the game.

I think the defense better rise to the occasion because the Cowboys pass protection could be a problem.
