Why not cut Hardy and save the money? He's not exactly dominating, the season's done, and hopefully we don't plan on re-signing him. We're paying him a lot of money per game - what's the point?

No don't cut him, lad, we need more drama and bad press. Being the good guys is so passe.

From a football standpoint, we will and should resign Hardy. He basically has kept quiet and weathered the storm of controversy surrounding his domestic abuse case. He is still making plays and is one of our better defensive linemen. He won't cost that much next year. And with another top defensive player acquired in the draft and D. Lawrence and R. Gregory another year wiser, I think this line will be very good with Hardy barring injuries.

You should just make FIRE HARDY in your sig.

Not saying you don't have a valid stance. OTOH, he actually has been on very good behavior the past few weeks. I actually think him working with Calvin Hill and his staff is a good situation for everybody.

I just wish people would accept that Jerry Jones honestly tries to rehabilitate his players. He deserves the right to work. The worst thing Hardy has done since becoming a Cowboy was insensitive commentary. His behavior has improved. I say let it ride and see what happens.

1. A fan saying his behavior has improved is not a good sign.
2. The fact that we need the opportunistic Calvin Hill also is not a good sign. What is Calvin, a psychiatrist? A probation officer? Why do we need to baby-sit scum like Hardy?
3. Only insensitive remarks? How about slapping a clipboard from a coach in a huddle -- DURING A GAME. When someone like Dez has to help restore order you know you are dealing with some one (Hardy) not yet grown up.
Hardy is scum, raised by wolves. Not what the cowboys should represent to the world. But fans like you think pass rush first (he's not all that) and image last.

We are going to have plenty of money for Hardy and whatever we need, also Hardy moves inside on come rushing downs and has to be rested anyway. There are plenty of snaps for Gregory in that scenario. IMO the best scenario for Gregory and for the team is for him to be more of a nickel rush specialist next year who gets additional reps spelling Hardy and DLaw.

I just think the ceiling is too high for Gregory to be a "specialist." In a perfect world he gets a bunch of snaps, but in Marinelli's system I just don't see it with Hardy still at WDE. Lawrence, who has a much lower ceiling, was handed the starting SDE job his second season. Gregory will be a part-time player if Hardy returns, unless we get creative and find a way to move him around like Denver did with Von Miller early in his career. I just don't see that in Marinelli's scheme.

We save 1.16m if we cut him and lose face with all future players and throw away a potential Comp pick.

Grow up Peter Pan, this is the plan of a child.

My issue with that is that Gregory hasn't shown he can hold up physically over a 16 game schedule. On top of that he hasn't shown he can stop the run, and teams would clearly run right at him. They do that with Hardy, who is 30 pounds heavier, more experienced and who has much better technique.

I can see both sides of the issue, but IMO I'd rather ease Gregory into the role and have an embarrassment of riches at a premium position. Having Gregory as something between a starter and a specialist means you have 2.5 Starters. Having 2 starters and seeing Gregory get hurt or wear down means you would very likely have 1 starter instead of 2.5.

Try watching closer. Hardy isn't expensive and he's generally the closest guy to the QB. Why would you want to get rid of him?

How about Mincey, who held out, got paid, then disappeared this year?

Because we don't want to win and he's overpaid!! What's the point!

The point is you don't want to piss off your players. Other players and agents see how teams treat their players. Start doing low ball crap like that, and good luck ever signing a decent FA again.

I think a lot of people are confusing elite with what we put out there. Hardy was far from elite this year. He was just better than what we had. That doesn't mean pay him. If we play hardball and with incentives, fine. But overall if he is looking top dollar, no. Anyone who thinks he dominated games like in Car. Weren't watching

He is our best player but not the league's best player, so we should low ball him. Got it.

Fail.

Guy is a very good player at a premium position and his work ethic is high end.

You resign him if possible.

Was he better than Lawrence late year? I didn't say he was best. He was better than most. But breaking bank for that is bad news. So you think we should throw money at a guy whose best behavior was slapping clipboards and making random inappropriate comments? don't care about Boy Scout but once paid it makes a difference

Yes, Hardy is a difference maker and will only help DLaw, RGregory and TCrawford.

The cap is going to be over 150m. We don't need to be cheap with everyone but Romo.
