Cut Hardy?

Why not cut Hardy and save the money? He's not exactly dominating, the season's done, and hopefully we don't plan on re-signing him. We're paying him a lot of money per game - what's the point?

Because no other FA would sign a deal with us if we showed so little loyalty?

My issue with that is that Gregory hasn't shown he can hold up physically over a 16 game schedule. On top of that he hasn't shown he can stop the run, and teams would clearly run right at him. They do that with Hardy, who is 30 pounds heavier, more experienced and who has much better technique.

I can see both sides of the issue, but IMO I'd rather ease Gregory into the role and have an embarrassment of riches at a premium position. Having Gregory as something between a starter and a specialist means you have 2.5 Starters. Having 2 starters and seeing Gregory get hurt or wear down means you would very likely have 1 starter instead of 2.5.

I can see that. But I think we should look at it as Gregory is our future. He's a 2nd round pick so he's only here for 3 more years. He's purely a WDE so he'll be behind Hardy as long as Hardy is on the team. If Hardy settles for another 1-year deal I'd be all for it, but I doubt he won't want a longer contract. So if we sign Hardy to at least a 3-year deal (which is on the short side of most deals), then Gregory will have no reason to want to sign a second contract with us if he can start elsewhere.

Yes, Hardy is a difference maker and will only help DLaw, RGregory and TCrawford.

The cap is going to be over 150m. We don't need to be cheap with everyone but Romo.

That's where we will disagree respectfully! Not sure your definition of difference maker when your 4-12 with D faltering in late stretches

Cut Hardy with 2 games left ? not gonna happen

If the Boys can re-sign him to a modest deal with incentive AND if he continues to value and appreciate this second chance -- I would try to resign Hardy!

D.Law is improving and the "hope" is Gregory takes a leap forward next year ( his arrows seems to be pointing up).

I let Mincey walk so you need another solid / stud DE to have in the rotation. Hardy fits that bill from my perspective.

Even with the emergence of D-Law, I would want to re-sign Greg.

Depth is key, and with Gregory still an unknown, with high potential, keeping Greg would allow us to ease in RG, and keep the guys fresh late into the year.

I think he is playing well, I also think he makes dlawrence and others better. He is a good football player with the potential to be dominating. Sometimes, he can take over a game.

But ive been done with him since he slapped a clipboard out of a coaches hand. Done. Wouldnt bother me at all to see him leave.

Now, that will leave us weak on the Dline......But at this point.....what does it matter anymore?

I want to see Cowboys mgmt stop catering to "Talent". That includes Dez.

Just stop. Bench them, cut them, whatever.....but ...stop letting "players" dictate culture. No matter who it is.

If there are no cap implications for future years, why would anyone care how much Hardy is being paid for the next 2 games in this most worthless of seasons? If anything, it is a goodwill bargaining gesture for future contract negotiations.

Not sure what cutting Hardy would accomplish other than giving the National media a reason to renew bashing of Dallas for signing him in the first place. Even more bad pub for cutting him for no reason.

Bad move at this point.

It depends.

If we could get him for the right money I would re-sign him.

It would cross off one position we would need to look for in the draft and allow us to concentrate on a position where we're a lot thinner.

every single team ever has players that are considered difference makers. even the bad ones.

Right but when you are Hardy and wanting a massive payday...and he disappears in stretches...that's not how I want to allocate the money. We did pretty well in 2014 with a different cast.

if we don't plan to re-sign him this offseason, then yes cut him now. I want him back, I hope they are negotiating a multi year deal.

A lot of football has to be played before I worry about Gregory maybe not returning.

The guy was another gamble by a staff that fills our roster with this stuff.

Escobar, Gregory, Hardy the list goes on.

Maybe he's not dominating, but he's playing pretty damn well, especially considering the other bums we rushing the passer at DT.
