Have you taken the time to look at Dez' stats from last year compared to Hurns?
Apples and oranges. No team ever schemed to take Hurns out of a game or made their top CB switch sides to travel with him. Hurns was a UFA who his former team did not see fit to retain and was signed by Dallas at a bargain basement price. He had a very good season out four. Does not compare to Dez.

Not entirely true. Allen Robinson missed all of last year so Hurns was the guy. He also had Blake Bortles of all people throwing to him. The difference between Hurns/Dez last year was minimal at best.

Why didn't they re-sign him if he were that good? Dallas didn't exactly break the bank to get him. As a passer, Bortles wasn't much worse than Dak last season (they both weren't much to write home about with passer ratings of 84.7 and 86.6 respectively).

Last season:

Dez Bryant played 16 games and had 69 Receptions for 838 yards and 6 TDs.
Alan Hurns played 10 games and had 39 Receptions for 484 yards and 2 TDs

Doesn't sound like an upgrade to me.

Thanks for making my point - he wasn't that good - his numbers were practically the same as Dez' - who......was also not re-signed.

If he really wanted to be here he could have said he would play for less money. So it isn't all the Jones' choice that he is no longer here. Plus he had the choice to catch a bunch of balls that he dropped last year, has had the choice to work with a route guru before this off season, etc.

THEY didnt offer it. This was a front office who got pissed when Dez criticized the offense at the end of the season..Granted Dez should have never said he would not do something..

Now, this also smacks of Stephen still butthurt over The last negotiation .That Dez won...

It was a mistake for one reason..How can one receiver on a team of many not mesh with a qb?

IT WAS a mistake because you are looking for an X, When you had one signed..DEZ has plenty left, and the PR hit the FO will take if Dez signs with a team in the East and Beats us...Epic!

Dallas has been babysitting and holding baby Dez's hand since they drafted him. They paid him his money and got very little in return the past 3 years. So, why continue coddling him? He was overpaid and declared several times on social media that he wasn't taking a paycut. Dallas made the correct decision. Ya might notice that nobody is stepping up to pay Dez. Had he shut his mouth and acted a little gracious, he'd probably be a Raven right now. But he tweeted his way out of their interest to and now its crickets.

Lol whats the big deal if he's not signed? Teams aren't going to make any moves to sign anyone like Dez until after the draft. Kind of smart how the Cowboys played that one. I could see why he would be pissed, the organization didn't do Romo or Ware like that.

Sorry Sarge I jumped the conclusion that you thought it was an upgrade based upon you asking if I had seen Hurns stats and saying that they were comparable to Dez.

I'm still curious to where Sturm is getting his "drops" stat from as STATS has Dez with only 6 official drops.

Yup, big mistake. Teams stumbling all over each other to sign him. What's the latest excuse? They want to wait til after the draft? Yeah, that makes sense w/ a player who everyone obviously thinks is the GOAT.

That this dead horse is still being whipped is the biggest mistake.

Dez gone...not coming back...move on.

For the Official Record

This is a gigantic mistake...... should have learned from DWare....... could have saved almost as much with a simple restructure

He could have been traded at worst....he will sign elsewhere quickly and he will play for 5-6 more years like ABoldin
Is he signed yet?

Judging by the response of NFL teams, this thread was a bigger mistake than cutting Dez was!!!

So far it appears that 31 teams out there agree with the Cowboy's assessment that Dez was more trouble than he was worth,
regardless of the price tag.

I wish.

Like Romo, we'll be having threads and mentionings of him for years to come.
This Dez subject is related to the Romo subject, which is also connected to the Dak subject if you catch my drift.

It's this weird thing where some fans STILL can't let go of Romo leaving so they hate Dak no matter what you invite for opinions or facts. Hate him SO much that they'll defend Dez to some pretty odd extremes. Dak doesn't stand a chance in their eyes.
