He’s already proved it. That’s why he got the contract.
Proved what, he knows how to choke when it counts. He got the contract because Jerry isn’t the football guy Jerry thinks he is and overpaid for average talent. QB draw and let’s go home. I can’t wait for all the new and rerun excuses of why he fails and chokes when it counts being everyone else’s fault except Dakchoka.

Did Mickey write that headline? Here's how it went:

Cowboys: "Let's leak that Dak wants $40M a year to make him look bad"
Dak's Agent the following year: "We won't settle for anything less than $40M a year"
Cowboys: "Deal, sucker! Haha!"

If only we could all ace negotiations that well.

Yep

While some of us agreed Dak was being over paid we also said it was normal protocol with the market price for Franchise QB’s and in a couple years he’d be more in line with his pecking order .

The only thing I’d add is there was also the prospect we could have moved sooner paying him before his Rookie contract expired when Dak was asking for what Russell was just signed making him the highest paid at 35 million a year but many were in an uproar over matching or making Dak the highest paid at that time .

This is all fine and dandy until he wants $50M+ when it's time to re-up in a year or 2

It all depends on how much a team wants to pay for consistent playoff contention and SB wins both past and present.

However the CZ masses of armchair GMs wanna spin their supposed superiority complexes are the normal type responses I would expect here.

Guys like Mahommes, Rodgers and Wilson have proven track records in the above mentioned accomplishments. And as such, in most league GMs eyes, would warrant deserving of mega deals.

Dak, not so accomplished. Same with Murray.
Not as deserving.

But then you have that one true outlier in Watson and all I got is "It's the Browns."

LOL.....unless he wins an SB this season he will be a pre-June 1st 2024 cut!
Now if Dak gets hurt and the 3rd string, compensatory 4th round draft pick comes in and wins 10 or 11 games in a row, then the conversation may change.

Until then, Dak isn't going anywhere

Its all based on timing, Dak's next contract in a couple years will be for even more if he performs at a high level. You could argue if the Cowboys signed him the year prior it would be for considerably less. QB contracts are accelerating at a rapid pace.

Just like they thank Wentz and Goff, like they thank Garappolo, like they thank Cousins....future QBs wl be thanking stafford and Wilson and the cycle will repeat itself over and over.

I wouldn’t say they aced it
Had they got it done a year earlier it would have been even cheaper
But they did what they had to do because when you have a good QB you have to keep them and the cost is the cost

Another way to think about it, is if they did it a year sooner, he would be going into negotiations 1 year sooner and thus will be paid whole lot more a year sooner with the renegotiations.

The problem was never Dak's contract. It was Zeke's...
