Some of these responses really makes me question why I frequent these forums. Not sound football assessment of the situation. I’m getting much too old to deal with such foolishness.

The article is a misrepresentation of what people were worried about. No one cares about the dollar amount or the average salary. What matters is cap hits. Who besides Jerry and Dak cares that he's the 8th highest paid QB now? He's a 50M dollar cap hit next year. I think he's 2nd highest next year. Mainly due to money being pushed forward. That's what actually matters to a team and their success. Not some random statistic that means nothing.

Didn't like it then or now. Really hate that he can't be traded or tagged again. They have to let him walk or extend him. I doubt they let him walk. His next deal probably beats the Watson deal abd they'll say they won that too.

Lol, exactly. We have much bigger problems such as no proven LT, a run down RB, an OC that can't gameplan, a GM that goes on vacation when FA starts, an average center and no interior DL. But we still go back to Dak's contract.

I can't wait for Diggs and Parsons to tear up the league so we have something fun to talk about.

I can’t take credit I saw it posted here by someone else a while ago and until he does something to change the view it fits.
Don't hold your breath. Plus, it's been the O-lines fault for 6 years, keep up with these posts!

Nope, the FO screwed it. No ifs buts or maybes about it.

You can hindsight the situation and say the deal is decent but Stephen not being able to get a deal done when Wentz/Goff got theirs cost the franchise about 40m. The current QB market, nor what Russell Wilson got is irrelevant. Dak should never have been negotiating as a free agent, it should have been done with a year left on his rookie contract when the franchise had leverage.

I like Dak. But the reality is that we need to win. We laid an egg in the playoffs...Dak included.

Contract/no contract...if we don't win, Dak's career will end up like Romo's. Tons of missed opportunities, no trophies and wasted potential.

I kn w you are fishin. here. That's fine. If the admin approves it's okay.

My comment would be...russ won a super bowl.

I know.....trivial minutia, team game... all that. Fine whatever.

In a way that's what I was thinking too, we are back at comparing or elevating Dak with SB winning QBs and with Multi-Post Season winning QBs. At least Wilson has all the acolades to justify the high pay. Fact is Dak as done nada ....

But "this is the year, no excuses, no buts or ifs, he has to deliver" said a fan in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022....

Dak will prove that, or disprove that, this season. No excuses. He makes all the money on offense.

This is true, but its still a team game and he can't block for himself and he definitely can't keep our team from leading the league in penalties again.

An extension would probably come after next year. But it really doesn't matter, because if he's on the Cowboys in 2023 and 2024, they have to do something with that 101 million. An extension doesn't make it vanish. They're going to have to eat some of that one year. Unless they add that money to an extension. That would be nuts.

No way anyone can look at that contract going forward and smile. Unless you ignore what's important and tell yourself his average salary is 8th. Like a guy that ignores his cheating wife because she's the nicest.

The Dallas FO will be negotiating with Dak to continue his career in a Cowboys uni soon enough. ;)

Not sure what their plan is but we'll see I guess. Maybe they thought the cap would be much higher? Remember how they paid Romo for a few years after he retired, it'll be the same thing only worse. I think dak's current deal has 1 or 2 fake years on it already. Oh well just more mediocrity but that's to be expected.

I know people like to credit QBs with super Bowls, that's fine. But this wasn't such a good example. It's like saying, Brad Johnson won a super bowl. Russ was more of a game manager in 2013. But besides that, literally just about any starting QB could have won a super bowl with that Seahawks team.

Every TRUE franchise QB from Carr to Rodgers thanks Dak Prescott and his agent!!!
Carr?

LOL. If Carr was the Cowboys QB you all would have strokes. He's absolutely terrible.
