Perusing the posts in the past weeks have led me to a single conclusion.

I think the overriding opinion here is that nobody really wants Joey Bosa with the 4th pick. We collectively smell a bust with this guy, at least compared to what a pick this high should be. I see folks that want Elliott, Ramsey, Jack, or Wentz/Goff. Trading down seems to be popular, too.

But not Bosa. And that includes me.

Why? What makes him so unattractive when the scouts say he's worthy of that pick?

I wouldn't mind Bosa at all. Plays a blue chip position that we are in need of for now and the future. If they select him I'll be all for it because that means Marinelli approves of him as well. No one I trust more currently in the league regarding DL for the 4-3 than Marinelli.

At this point I would take Bosa over Jack or Ramsey. I'd rather draft Elliott though I think that ship has sailed or I'd rather trade down.

I don't want a quarterback at 4 at all, I'd rather draft Jack or Ramsey over a QB.

I think the fact that he doesn't look like an elite pass rusher makes him unappetizing at #4, but I think he could still help our defensive line.

I think he benefitted greatly by having players around him. He just reminds me of .....Bobby Carpenter. He has got the size, physical traits, attitude, and stats and highlights and all that........... but I don't think he is going to be the player people are saying he is going to be.....just my gut feeling. He really didn't "stand out" to me, when I watched my Buckeyes play...

Wouldnt it be sweet if Tunsil makes it to 4?

I still think this is the team board.

1) Make the pick if Tunsil or Ramsey is there.(in that order)
2) Next option is trade down
3) Buckner

Frankly, I suspect most people here don't have a clue who is worthy and who is not. But I think you can make some comments here:

1) If the scouts tell the Jones that Wentz or Goff is an elite prospect worthy of the 4th slot, and they pass under the delusion of the Romo will play for 4-5 years and then we can fix the QB spot, they are making a mistake.

2) Based on what they've said and how they've treated the TB spot in free agency, taking Elliott at 4 would be puzzling.

3) If they take a guy at 4 - specifically Bosa or Ramsey - because they failed in free agency to address two key defensive positions that's a mistake. Take Bosa or Ramsey at 4 because they are clearly the best player at 4, not because they are good players that fill a key need.

Dallas has done pretty well in the first round recently but I have this nagging suspicion they might get too cute with this pick this year.

For me it's anyone but a QB. Myles Jack is starting to become my favorite. Then Elliott, Ramsey, Bosa, Buckner. In that order.

I dont agree,Carpenter was soft.Bosa is anything but soft,he is relenteless.his problem here is we are getting a strong side DE who may get you at best 7-8 sacks a year but will demand a constant double team and he has no problem with double teams-is that worth a no 4 pick?

5 years ago...I think Jack is the pick without question. But now that teams play so much spread offense....It takes the LBers off the field. Personally...I take him becuase Lee can't stay healthy...and McClain is one strike away from being Josh Gordon....And he probably replaces McClain in the nickle D anyway.

They need to listen tot he scouts...absolutely. So far, the rumblings have been mixed on both players though. Some saying they aren't even top 15 level players. Maybe it's smoke and mirrors.
Bottom line. If the Scouts and FO loves a QB, take the guy.

2) Based on what they've said and how they've treated the TB spot in free agency, taking Elliott at 4 would be puzzling.
Agree, though maybe they see value in taking a young guy with no NFL tread. Kind of would surprise me if they took him though..as you say.

Feel very strongly that Will Clay doesn't let FA dictate the player rankings pre draft. So I agree that IF they think Bosa or Ramsey are top four level players--which almost all the scouting services are already saying--then take one of them.

Dallas has done pretty well in the first round recently but I have this nagging suspicion they might get too cute with this pick this year.

True...comments attached

I want Joey Bosa to be a Dallas Cowboy. I think he is unattractive to so many on this forum because they are not smart and I am intellectually superior to all of them.

I kid!

I wonder how ridiculous it would be to get Tunsil. I meant at some point you probably have to look at the law of diminishing returns, but when is that point?

Smith - Collins - Frederick - Martin - Tunsil

Jeez....

If you think of an offensive line as a basketball team with 5 players, the idea of having 5 pro bowl caliber players would certainly be impactful, but it's probably not realistic. You can probably hide Doug Free's weaknesses within a scheme with the rest of the talent on the line. I'm not sure if not having to hide Tunsil and even having a dominant right tackle really opens the offense up that much more. I really don't know. I'm not familiar with the player either.

But it is an interesting idea.

Well, it would mean we could consistently run to the right as opposed to always to the left on jumbo sets....

You may very well be right....... I just hesitate to pick him at 4. I cant take time to articulate it, and the scouts who get paid to evaluate these players are saying something different, and I haven't "focused" on him, although I do watch all OS games...... its nothing more then gut, but if we go Bosa, I will be hoping that I am wrong.
