I like Jake and his work generally, but this is just hilariously bad.

Let's start with Tyron Smith was drafted in 2011. He was already at his peak when Dak and Zeke were drafted in 2016.
He was in fact drafted for the PRIOR QB.
So was Zeke!!

And Zeke is a RB, a position who has a lifespan of like 5 years generally.
And the last 2 SB winning QBs?
33-year-old Matt Stafford was preceded by 43-year-old Tom Brady.....

These 3 guys were not ever really part of the same "window".

Sure, early Dak could have Brock Purdy'd it with a dominant ST and Defense.
But he wasn't beating elite defenses then.
And Zeke was a bell-cow day 1 and enjoyed the 2nd half of Tyron's career.
But Tyron was getting banged up and missing games by the time they were trying to extend Zeke.

Zeke and Tyron may walk away from Dallas this off-season.
But was that ever a true core??

Or was Tyron, Dez. DeMarco and Romo a core?

Is Micah, Pollard, Dak, CeeDee a core?

Once the Romo window closed Dallas spent two years paying off that debt.
They never went all in around Dak.
Still haven't because they are scared to death of being an unwatchable joke for 4-5 years.

My guess is Jake looked at the playoff game and said man we gotta move on from Zeke, Tyron and Dak.
The last of those moves was either emotional or ignorant of facts.

NFL teams turn over 25% of the roster yearly.
Player are mobile and less likely to play for only 1 team than ever before.

Pretending Tyron, Dak, Zeke somehow equated to Troy, Mike and Emmitt would be just wild.

I think Quinn coming back keeps the window open just a little bit.

I honestly think if we still had Amari we could have beat the 49ers. This was a great year to go all in like the Rams, but instead we traded away a guy we really needed.

Cowboys are the 3rd youngest team in the nfl. Will get younger with this draft.
Not sure if being a young team in the nfl is a good thing or not. The last 15 super bowl champions had an average age of 27 years 3 months. The cowboys this year were 25 years 9 months. The remaining playoff teams are the 49ers 26 years 8 months, bengals 26 years 3 months, and the eagles 26 years 2 months, and the chiefs 26 years 1 month,. The youngest team to win the superl bowl the last 15 years was the seahawks at 26 years and 5 months.

You are obfuscating. Many QBs on your list won it before 30 as well. Others, like Elway made it too the SB before 30. List the guys who made it to and won their first SB after 30.
Nah. I’m not obfuscating crap. I’m answering the prompt as it was given. Got a problem? I don’t care.

No...he's not posting disinformation because 12 of the are HOFers with two more probably going in. Nobody is mistaking Dak for that.

The ones that aren't are much better QB's than Dak...except for maybe Eli. That's close.
Cope harder that your buddy was caught with his pants down and y’all are scrambling to redefine what was meant.

It's going to be harder in the salary cap era, and more specifically post 2011 when they came up with the new rules for rookie contracts and the like. This is where getting the big money actually matters.
Since post-2011 there have been/will be 11 Super Bowls. A QB aged 30 or older has won the Super Bowl 6 times. It’s a silly non-stat.

Didn’t read but that’s a ridiculous take. Aren’t the Cowboys like the 3rd or 4th youngest team in the league? Plus with free agency teams can rebuild quickly. Cowboys SB window is very much alive.

Cowboys and free agency shouldn’t be in the same post

What a ridiculous article. They just went 12-5 for the second year in a row and have one of the youngest rosters in the league. They saw what life would he like without Tyron Smith this year and it was… fine. Do we think losing Zeke Elliott is going to hurt us? They already have replacements for Dalton Schultz. We sweating over losing Anthony Brown lol… really?

I don’t see a single free agent that would cause the sky to fall if we lost them this off season. Terence Steele is a pretty important one, as he’s developed into a nice road grader. He and Tyler Smith are a nice young nucleus to build around. The team has proven they’re willing to spend valuable resources on the OL, and they will continue to reload with high picks as they prepare for life without Zack Martin some day. As long as the offensive line is solid, the offense will function fine. They haven’t had a dominant Line since what… 2016?… and the offense has been fine.

Tyron Smith, Zeke Elliott, Demarcus Lawrence are all aging players and haven’t provided the impact that’s carried us to 12 win seasons. Shedding those salaries, whether this year or in the near future, should open us to to getting better ROI with our cap dollars. I see no reason for anyone to suggest the window is closed because these guys are aging.

The idea of a closing window would be more akin to what the Eagles are doing. They don’t draft well and have relied on signing veterans via FA to load up their roster. Eventually they will have to pay Hurts, and this strategy won’t be feasible anymore.

As long as Dallas continues to draft well their window will always be open. What you CANT do is draft poorly once you’re paying your QB big money. That’s when the window closes for any team.

We now have the NY Post reporting that Moore's job is in jeopardy and D Magazine saying the window has closed. I am awaiting Vanity Fair's take on this before I decide.
Don’t they have a concession at Jerry world? ;)

Good article from Jaaaake. Life moves fast in the NFL. Teams if their lucky get a 3-5 year window to do something. Our time has passed with this core. Some of these teams that have been drafting high for several years will now get their turn. Dumb & Dumber will be the last ones to figure this out.

It was never open. Lol

Hilarious.

No it hasn't.

Had they gone and mortgaged the future that would be the case.

But they didn't. And for that, I'm thankful. We still have next year.

The reason the Cowboys won 12 games each of the last 2 seasons was the defense getting 38 TO's in each of those years. The chances of that happening 3 years in a row can't be very good. Prescott has shown he can't play well when the defense isn't getting those TO's. On top of this the talent of this team will be less next year. They have no way of keeping some of these players. Even good drafting (which they have done) won't replace that talent next year. And lastly, the Cowboys for years have been able to rely on a crappy division. That is no longer the case. I don't think the superbowl window was every truly open, but whatever was open has a much better chance of closing slightly then opening more.

Yeah like the other poster said, Diggs, Osa, Bland, Smith, Steele, Clark, Parsons, CD, Kearse, Wilson, Ferguson, Hendershot etc.

I'd also have to ask who all do you believe is not a part of the core? Most these guys I think we can grow with.
Wonderful core.

They might mortgage the future in this coming off season. Jerry thinks Dak is the guy and will trade future draft picks to prove it. Jerry will not be proven wrong.
