All I know is, we better take advantage of having a franchise QB on the cheap for 4 years. Seattle did that and completely loaded up on defensive talent. On the other hand, we'll have Romo on the books until we'll have to fork out a big deal for Dak.

Well we'd probably have to give at least 2 1sts and a 2nd, if not more to have put up an offer to get Wentz, so when you consider that we get Dak, Elliott, Jaylon Smith and whoever we draft with our 1st next year, we got a nice deal. Plus, this is where Dak wanted to play and he grew up as a Cowboys fan, so we got our QB.

I keep hoping that Wentz looks bad - just because its the Eagles, but no luck so far. It does help that Dak is doing well, but to have Wentz in the conference is annoying!
This is what I have been saying since Wentz was chosen in the draft by the hated birds!!

I watched Wentz play against Cleveland and Chicago and thought he was more flawed at this point than Dak. But, after the Steelers game...wow.

The big difference is that Philly has an excellent defense. Lot easier to play QB when you don't have to score on almost all of your possessions.

As mentioned they're both getting adulation but Wentz has thrown more TD's and Philly has looked much better than anyone expected at 3-0. The experts on this board were laughing at Philly for trading Bradford and going with Wentz who had only played in one preseason game. Most here thought he and Philly would struggle and so far they're the best team in the division. Pretty amazing how well Wentz has played despite battling an injury through most of preseason. You have to remember he was a top 5 pick who was receiving a lot of hype and so far looks every bit like the QB some thought he would be down the road but not this soon.
I live in the philly market and most in philly expected him to struggle. Not just cowboys fans.
The part that isn't getting much press is the amazing job Doug Peterson has done with Wentz on designing a short passing offense that plays to Wentzs strengths. Pederson learned so much from Andy Reid.

What impresses me about Dak is he is doing this well in a Jason Garrett offense. I didn't think it was possible.

If I'm jealous of Philly, I'm jealous of their offensive coaches and defensive personnel.
yeah I was looking at their O plays, and they have a better playbook than dallas, and on defense,
better players to some degree, and a better DC.

I think Wentz is aided by his defense, and Dak has been helping his defense by going on long drives, and keeping his defense off the field
and keeping them rested.

Both QB are good , dak should 3-0 , and wentz is 3-0 so yes they are both good for rookies, and even more than just rookies,
they are playing better than most veteran QB's.

Wentz has the advantage of having the starter job his all his, and he makes millions per year.
Poor Dak has Romo looking over his shoulder just dying to reclaim the job, and Dak is paid peanuts compared to wentz and goff and even other QB's !

To keep the comparison going even further...keep an eye on this Smallwood guy that the Eagles have at RB. I believe he was a 4th or 5th rounder and is starting to impress -- enough so to help keep Matthews on the bench for most of yesterday's game.

So it might not just be Wentz vs Dak, but Wentz/Smallwood vs. Dak/Zeke.

It really doesn't matter which QB is better it cost Philly the farm to trade up for Wentz at #2 overall and we got Dak in the 4th round. Their play has been pretty comparable and we got Dak at a much better value. We were just looking for a backup and ended up with a QB who may end up being our future at the position.

It really didn't cost the Eagles much. I think it has basically netted out as Nick Foles and a pick for Wentz. They got a 1st and 4th (could go as high as a 2nd) from the Vikings for Bradford.

The Eagles 2017 draft picks look like this:

Round How acquired
1 Acquired from Vikings for Sam Bradford
2 Eagles' own pick
3 Eagles' own pick
4 Eagles' own pick
4 Acquired from Browns as part of deal to acquire 2016 No. 2 overall pick
5 Eagles' own pick
6 Eagles' own pick
7 Eagles' own pick

Eagles still have picks in every round, and 2 in the 4th. Hardly selling the farm.

I'm sure most everyone including Philly fans thought Wentz would struggle but naturally on this board FANS tend to go overboard thinking Philly would tank this season and that they would be a joke. One thing that's helped Dak is all the preseason work he had. With Romo going down in preseason it gave the Cowboys time to formulate an offense to help fit Dak's skills. We were more prepared than we were last season with Dak receiving so many starting reps in preseason and practice.

Contract Details
Total Value: $2,453,392 (avg. $613,348/year; $383,392 fully guaranteed)
83rd lowest of 93 QB contracts.
2016 pay is $450,000 bonus of $95,848.
So dak has been paid $95,848. signing bonus, I guess he gets that up front. which isnt all that much.
Then gets paid weekly? starting in PS or Reg Season?
If divide by 17 comes to 26,470 gross per game week minus taxes is ??
So maybe $20,000 or less per game.:espn:

on side note tapper was signed to a higher deal than dak 2.9 mil
pretty much every cowboy starter makes way more than dak.

Wentz:
2016 salary $450,000 1/4 of signing bonus = $4,400,243
Carson Wentz signed a four year contract with the Eagles worth $26,676,338. Wentz received a $17,600,972 signing bonus. On the third day of each years training camp Wentz will receive roster bonuses. Wentz’ entire contract is guaranteed

This = about $285,000 per game week (x 17)

So Wentz gets $285,000 per game
Dak gets $20,000 or less per game
They should adjust his contract so that he gets $100,000 per win in bonus money.

This is what they gave up it might not be giving up the farm so to speak but they gave up a lot.

The Eagles acquired the No. 2 overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft in a trade with the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday, the Eagles announced. The Browns will receive Philadelphia's No. 8 overall pick, a third- and fourth-round selection in this draft, next year's first-round pick and a second-round pick in 2018. The Eagles also got a conditional fifth-round pick (a compensatory fourth-rounder, if available) from the Browns next season.

Prescott and Wentz are starting and playing well. Meanwhile, Goff is holding a clipboard and playing second fiddle to a nobody and Lynch can't beat out an undrafted QB from Northwestern.

Crazy stuff. Hard to imagine.

If you are the Cleveland owner or the LA owner, how do you not fire your GM and entire draft personnel?

It sucks because I already see this turning into a Dak vs. Wentz issue when it shouldn't be. They are both exciting young QB prospects.

Dax is playing ever bit as good as Wentz. Where the HEdoubleL do Cowboys "fans" get off coming on this board and saying that they'd rather have Wentz? Go away and root for the Eagles. Go ahead. Just go.

It didn't cost them the farm, but it would cost them the farm, unless we were going to trade Romo to a team willing to give us a 1st rounder at minimum.

Went & Dak looking like keepers. Brissett & Kessler with decent showings. Not a bad showing for a maligned QB class.

Goff must be chomping at the bit.

yeah that Smallwood looked good, need to see more though over several games.
