Dak appreciation thread **merged**

"He's going to be great, here on out".

Almost sounds as if Dez is already lobbying for who he thinks should be the starting quarterback....

No, I suspect Dez fully supports Romo. I just see this comment as giving his rook QB his due. The next few weeks will possibly determine the future of both quarterbacks, but Prescott himself has said "this is Tony's team".

Now if Romo comes back and doesn't play as well as Dak....then this forum may explode.

Correction
Warren Moon had 103 passes in his 1st 3 games without an interception ( he had 3 TDs to go with that)

Im not sure when his 1st pick came, but it wasnt until his 4th game. So probably >103 attempts

I stand corrected.

Its a great feeling to be able to legitimately compare Dak to guys like Brady and Moon after only two games.

I agree with everybody in this thread. The coaches have really done a great job getting this rookie 4th rounder ready for the NFL season. It's amazing how far he's come, how fast. You can see him getting better week by week as he gets the reps.

If we just hit on a franchise QB in the freaking 4th round, it really doesn't matter if every other pick in the draft is a bust, even Zeke.
And I'm pretty sure Zeke won't be a bust. But I agree with you. It's even enough to ensure JG and the offensive staff still have jobs.

I mostly agree, with one caveat: imagine you are Dez....who would you rather be catching balls from; Tony.. who at any moment might be throwing his last pass, or Dak, who, if things go right, will be throwing you balls for the better part of the next decade?

If it were me I'd rather move on and get comfortable with Dak

Great post. Prescott's poise and leadership have blown me away. Dak is well on his way to being a Russell Wilson-type steal. All 32 teams' scouts messed up here. Dallas would have probably taken Dak at four overall if they knew he was this good.

Dez is loyal to the Cowboys (now that they've paid him). He'll support whomever is a quarterback and I'm sure he's aware that his current contract will not end with Romo at QB.

There will be plenty of time to build a Dak-Dez rapport. Let's not forget Romo and Dez have connected for 50 touchdowns. Overall, I just feel a lot better knowing Prescott is here in case Romo's next game is his last.

Now that we have our qb, we can build our defense.

We get Dak for cheap for 4 years. I think we keep Romo for this year and next (because cap hit is prohibitive), and then cut Romo in 2018, and pour all resources into defense for a Super Bowl run. Just like Seattle did with Russ Wilson.

In a perfect world, the Cowboys get some impact free agent defenders, Collins and Tapper develop as hoped, and Jaylon Smith is the middle linebacker in 2017. The defense would be on it's way then.

It really has. That decision to slide instead of throw the ball at the end of the game was impressive. Something T Will hasn't figured out yet. Game management.
You're wrong. T-Will also slid in bounds to keep the clock running...

Poise.

The playcalling as a package clearly favors his development and having options like Beasley and Witten in addition to Dez makes this a favorable system for him. Like it or not, the coaches do get credit for that.
Uh, no...they only get credit for the bad stuff.

Dak should be 2-0...but regardless nothing about him says ROOKIE.

Dak should be 1-1. His (in)accuracy in the first game is a big part of why we didn't win. And his performance today is a big part of why we won this week.

2 td's dropped and wr's not getting out of bounds says differently.

Dak had 2-3 TD's dropped the first game in what would have been a blowout.
