Dak before/after the bye split

It really goes back nine games, although his fumbles are a problem (OL issues haven't helped). Still, there's no doubt his passing has improved.

Prescott's passer rating
First 12 career games (2016) 108.3
next 8 games (2016-17) 92.3
next 8 games (2017) 85.5
next 8 games (2017-18) 80.8
last 9 games (2018) 101.9

5 rushing TDs in the last 7 games. None earlier in the season.
9 fumbles too though.

However you slice it, it's been a big jump in passer rating. About 20 points.

Throw in his 1000 yards rushing in less than 3 seasons and 17 Rushing TD's to go with his 59 passing TD's and I will take him all day.

I think a lot of the hate comes from the love and loyalty to Romo. He may never be the passer Romo was, but that doesn't mean he won't be more of a winner.

People tend to forget the rushing yards, rushing TDs for QBs generally. And *availability*.

His game has a big contrast to Romo in terms of what he brings.

And the last time Romo really played, he had his best season ever, and one of the best of all time. That's the last real memory of Romo playing. A tough opening band.

I'm not sure Dak has ever been the problem. I've been watching film and focusing on the o-line. In pass blocking in particular, this year's line has been well below average. Dak doesn't help by having a marginally slow release, but I'm convinced that 75% of our offensive woes are tied to an underperforming offensive line.

I have to go back and look at all of these fumbles. I think some of them are just silly. I know he had the two that bounced up and were not negative plays...so those shouldn't count. I know he fumbled out of bounds a few weeks ago, so that wasn't negative either.

The Commanders fumble near our end zone is bad. The fumble on the qb sneak was BAD. The one last week late wasn't on him...he was blindsided trying to throw. The other last week wasn't bad either...he was hit in 2.5 seconds by the defender...and he recovered it.

WAY overblown IMO.

I wish I could say that I am surprised by the numbers difference since adding an actual talent at WR.....but I am not. I screamed all season that it was a travesty that we gave this kid NOTHING to work with in the passing game and I was mocked.

I screamed all year that all anyone has to do is look at the top offenses in the league and they are littered with weapons. Watch what happens to this team when we add a good TE who can also be a red zone threat!

Lack of ball security counts, whether you get a lucky bounce back to you or not. A poor tendency is a poor tendency whether or not a player gets away with it without disaster on a particular play.

I'm still unsure what we have in Prescott, but those #'s are very very good.
You can absolutely win football games when your QB puts up those stats.

But I'm also not going to hide the fact that Bobby should have included fumbles and sacks.

Much of what Dak does, good and bad, doesn't show up in the passer rating.

I doubt that even Total QB Rating includes "sacks that were your fault" either. Maybe fumbles.

Scoring 13 points a game with Garrett's offense will get us nowhere soon .

Without the defense playing phenomenally, we lose.

Daks fumbles normally would have been the difference in that kind of performance. Plenty of production from Dak, but two turnovers kept us from scoring more. Also that one miss on Gallup. Dak left a lot of points on the table.

I actually find it encouraging, because at least the points were there to be had. I trust that Dak can get the fumbles under control, and hit wide open WRs more reliably. I didn't trust that he could otherwise function so efficiently.

That definitely has something to the with the offensive line after Colombo took over. Dak was always playing under pressure before the bye with the OL at times falling apart against the pass rush. They still do to some extent but definitely doing better than before and that helps Dak a lot.

I really dont think the oline is playing better now.

Dak is ranked #19 by PFF, and they certainly factor this stuff into grades.

Even the past 4 weeks, his grade hasn’t changed much.

He and Deshaun Watson, when looking at their stats, tell you they are playing mediocre football compared to how many other QBs are playing this year. PFF shows the more in-depth stuff is also mediocre.

They factor in surroundings as well in their grade. It is what it is.

Amari cooper and hc/oc coaching for their jobs. plus the teams beginning to really believe in themselves now.

I don't think Coach or OC has anything to do with it. I think it is Cooper along with the Defense taking a bigger step. I haven't seen a big change in Play-calling. We run like out of 4 formations and have 4 different versions of plays. It's not rocket science. Amari has just backed people off stopping the run and it is helping. Also the Oline play is 25-30% better so that has helped. Garrett has done nothing and I really don't think Linnehan has suddenly become "innovative". The Defense has taken a big step overall the last 4 games. I mean a big step, like Legion of Boom steps. It's rare and we should enjoy it while it lasts.

It's more the Cooper effect than the OL improvements. The OL has run blocked better since the coaching change but it still sucks at pass blocking.
