Romo, Dez are old news, stop the comparison. As for Lawrence and Zeke, I agree, however, that does not mean that Dak has to be that greedy.
So he's considered "greedy" when you don't even know what is being offered to him lol? Is that how it works in your world? Romo and Dez are old news? We were just paying them not too long ago lol. No one has given Jerry a discount yet Dak is suppose to. Please.

Only from what is being reported, and what is being reported is not a sign of a leader that wants to succeed team wise, just money wise.
Reports have been all over the place for the last year. Sometimes $33-35 million, some $40 million. Some saying Dak wanted 3-4 years, some saying the Cowboys wanted control for 6-7 years, others somewhere between. And guaranteed money is anyone's guess. For now it just seems a lot of speculation being tossed around so the media can hook fans into paying attention to their product.

Dak is being called greedy because he wants a 4 year deal instead of 5 lol.....unbelievable lol.

There are only two examples ever of a QB taking less money. One was Tom Brady on his 3rd or 4th contract when he was already worth 500 Million dollars and the second is Drew Bress on his 5th contract when he worth 300MM or so.

Did Romo, Zeke, Dez or Lawrence "meet in the middle" on their deals? Did they do Jerry that solid? So why should Dak? Out of the kindness of his heart?

I agree. What will Dak take less heat if he plays cheaper? Hell he has taken crap over the last 4 years as the lowest paid and now if he plays on the cheap people will cut slack of give some benefit of the Doubt? lol Much has been expected from Dak and even more will be expected I don't think he would expect it to be any other way.

What player gives teams a discount? Especially at quarterback at 26? And please bring up Tom Brady so I can kill that rumor as well.

Drew Brees, but Social Security is going to make up the difference.

If Dak get's a new contract which pays him like the Top QB's then he won't be given too much margin for error with the fans.
Being a 4th round pick and his ability to right the ship has endured him to the fans. But, now that he will be paid like the top QB's he will be expected to play like one and things that may have been forgiven by fans before won't any more.
It's not that he's overpaid that upsets people, it's the fact that him taking up more and more of the cap space prevents the team from retaining players due to the restraints implemented by the cap.
He will be expected to show that he can carry the team and be the main cog that elevates the team/players to the upper level.
He needs to show that the players he has around him is irrelevant up to a certain point and be able to perform even when he isn't surrounded by top notch players.
Right now he has Zeke, Cooper, and Gallop that are excellent players and help mask a lot of his deficiencies in a lot of instances.
Now, he will be expected to perform even if/when those players go out due to injury.
Why should he be at fault for the market overpaying QBs? He's outplayed the 2 guys who went 1 and 2 in his draft. Why should he settle for less? Fans with your mentality are ridiculous. Why cant you people stop worrying about how much these players are getting paid. Its not affecting the cap for any team. Except for those teams who have owners who dont have the money on hand to write them checks for the upfront money. This part is what most fans dont realize. Teams get in trouble financially with players not because of the cap, but because they dont have the cash on hand to give them that upfront money. Jerry doesnt have this problem.

Exactly. People need to ask themselves why should Dak take a few million less? There really is no perks to doing it. And no matter what these people say that 4 million less will not result into anything.

I agree. They use stats to rip on him and yet will blow off stats that he has shown great improvement in his play The notion of the thread that he will not have the benefit of the doubt? when the hell was he given any benefit of the doubt as QB? lol

Not out of the kindness of his heart, but because he knows he can live like a King for the rest of his life, on say 30 million a year, and he can give a little bit of a discount to the team so they can use it on other players.

Right. Its like what can you say or do at this point? Mind you he's only 26 or 27. He's right where you want him to be. Go check out where Russell Wilson and Tom Brady were at at his point. Not saying he's them or ever will be. But for the naysayers just see where they were initially and where they were by 27.

:clap::hammer::bow:

The best-case scenario for Dak.
The traditional franchise QB deal: 5 years, $170ish million, $130 million guaranteed.
The most likely scenario for young starting quarterbacks is a long term contract with more than 75% of that cash guaranteed. Recent examples.

  • Wilson (2019): four years, $140 million, $107 million guaranteed
  • Goff (2019): four years, $134 million, $110 million guaranteed
  • Wentzie (2019): four years, $128 million, $107.9 million guaranteed
Those were all contract extensions that added new money to current deals. Dak would be starting anew, leaving him open to a deal a la Carr's from 2017 with Raiders (five years, $125 million, $70.2 million guaranteed).

It would make sense if Dak were to follow the Goff route, since they were drafted in the same season and because Dak doesn’t have the same injury concerns Wentzie does each and every season.

If Dak get's a new contract

Now, I agree with this. No perks for Dak, but for the Dallas Cowboys, a few million would be a perk for the TEAM.

Yeah, 4 million would not help his TEAM...got it. But it sure would help his cause, cause he has to eat.

Did Lawrence, Zeke, Jaylen or Collins do that? Did Cooper do that? They didn't. So you want Dak to do it so they can do what with it? Overpay the next guy? They take his 4 million and overpay whoever is next in line to get overpaid?

4 million will help them pay the next person in line to overpay.

Would you take 5-10 dollars a hr less at your job?

To me, I don't care what the fans think or what he thinks of the fans.

To me, if we are paying him the most in the NFL, he has to play like one of the best in NFL - Top 5 for sure.

If hes making that type of cheddar there should be zero excuses. Don't tell us about how the OL struggled or Elliott is too fat and not as good anymore or the WRs got hurt or whatever. You want to be paid like the best, you play like the best. The best like Wilson and Brady thrived regardless of the circumstances.
No more excuses. Leader or not. Play like your pay or you’re gonna get killed. Somebody contract-quarantine RS.
