Dak contract clarification

Nothing's no absolutes, there are scenario's which could play out. Yep, there's a chance your scenario happens and would be ideal if a good win now team loses their QB (in season)....however, there's the case of Jerry paying $29m CASH, for in essence a QB2.
Right, but that 29m base salary transfer to his new team if he’s traded (pro-rata). I’m just saying it’s a card Jerry has if he wants to recoup something for Dak and a deal isn’t achievable.

Right now as a 2nd team All Pro, Dak has high value. If Dak refuses to explore trades and we want him to, Jerry has the leverage to take money out of his pocket and that hurts Dak more than Jerry.

Or we just cut him and the $29m becomes immaterial. The decision may become, will Jerry see saving $29m in his pocket as a good enough return.

The problem he's facing is we've now reached the similar scenario as we did with Coop.... a couple of teams will take him as a fa, but aren't going to trade picks for him., especially as two of the teams who could of needed him in 2024 have now (Vikes and Bronco's) have already spent first Rd picks on QB's.

So how do you think this will play out?

I just want Prescott gone ASAP then I can fully enjoy watching the team again without knowing he's going to ruin the entire season with an incompetent, shameful and embarrassing performance in the first round of the play offs.

I don't think the FO are certain themselves.

The very fact we've gone back to Zeke, just hoes to show Jerry tends to always go back to what he knows....so, unfortunately I'm going with him capitulating.
If Dak takes everything (inc length of contract).....it's going to get messy, very messy as the fanbase aren't happy at all....if he gives another NTC I could see riots. No NTC and a longer contract is (for me palatable, though I am same as yourself and think it's time for a change).
Then again Dak won't have to face Play-off meltdowns, as I doubt we get there.

I wouldn't pay Dak more than $48 million per year. That's way enough, but I'm afraid Jerry will cave and pay Dak $55+ million.
Yep, I'm with that....my bigger concern is the length of contract. If Dak's looking for 3 years it's just impossible (especially with the outstanding deferred bonus on top).

Spotrac shows $40 million owed in 2025 AND $12 million in 2026. Can someone explain the post June 1st cut when considering these numbers?

Agreed on not overpaying him, but Dak isn't the problem.
But he is part of the problem, especially taking into account the $. How much is open for debate. As is whether moving on from him brings more or less problems.

Dak’s time will end here at some point. I just hope they have a succession plan other than dumb luck.

Everyone's measuring money versus championships big playoff games there's a whole lot of good to great quarterbacks in this league that are making as much or more money than Prescott they should all be cut why are you selling them if you're what a player that's in an NFC championship game or an AFC championship game or the Super bowl on a regular basis and that's how you're being judged there's a whole bunch of guys a lot of them below Prescott but still in the top ten of the money they have not done squat in the playoffs... I mean technically it Daniel Jones AV was the same as Prescott I mean just take that in for a minute.. I mean we gotta stop using the money as your measuring stick I realize the contact affects the roster but not having a good quarterback will affect the roster even more.. All these other teams have found a way to pay their quarterbacks even though they're not winning Super Bowls and they're not consistently getting into the championship games and still build their rosters to be competitive let's stop blaming Prescott I mean we blamed Romo and I mean we give some credit to Danny white and he wasn't even as good as either one of those quarterbacks that's my opinion so yes I get both sides of the argument but this team could be severely hampered for the next five years by cutting Prescott without his successor..

And I'm gonna keep saying this every time we bring up quarterbacks 95 quarterbacks have been drafted since 2016 and only one that would be Patrick mahomes have won Super Bowls and many hasn't even won more than two playoff games I mean look at this two time MVP in my opinion Lamar Jackson's overrated yes he's a very good quarterback I'll give you that he should be a starter but he's making big time money and he's two and five in the playoffs... The team records the success or non success in the playoffs can't be hung on quarterbacks it's a team concept..

I'm not saying we should pay the man $60 million but I think we should be open to letting him test the market if we don't sign in this year but try to bring him back let him go see how much other teams are willing to pay and then then match it maybe he'll stay make it all guaranteed that's what guys want nowadays if you give them a smaller contract they'll make it 100% guaranteed it could work out as a win win for both sides and nobody has ever verified 60 million was the number I think if you can get him to sign for around 50 and give it to him all guaranteed like three years 150 why not I mean everybody's really in a hurry to get bad at quarterback.

I think that’s one way to identify the pro-Dak crowd. They keep saying that because they want it to be true so badly.
I guess you can keep thinking your emotions are leverage. Keep thinking he can be traded with a no trade clause. Keep thinking he is going to be cut. Or keep thinking they are going to bench him. Good luck with that.

Mirky world and i may be wrong, but .....I'll have a go.
Don't worry about the specific individual Void Years ....they were created when allocating the restructuring (adding a year increases the divisible amount).
Pre June = $66m hit (2024) 0 (2025)
Post June = $26m (2024) + $40m (2025)
Play out contract = $55m + $40m (2025

So best cut him before June to take the full hit this year then crack on with 2025.

He does if he's no longer in love with Dak....a position of "Take it or Leave it" gives him leverage.....indeed Dak has to work out if location plays a part in what he wants. If it's just money, then bye.
Jerry has zero leverage.

Stop with the 'other QB's' and what they're paid....that's immaterial.
If he wants to hit free agency (and maximise his earning...nothing wrong with it), It's better for everyone if we cut him pre-June, we can save CAP, Jerry saves money and he gets to earn his contract (minus most of $29m salary he'd mostly miss out on), whilst playing on a different team.
