Dak decision making

The playbook has been completely revamped, so I have no idea what you're talking about. Dak's not executing. The O-line are not blocking, the receivers are not catching. How is that Linehan's fault, let alone Garrett's? Nobody gets a pass including the coaches, but this whole "it's all the coaches fault" narrative is lazy analysis, plain and simple.
Revamped? Did you not see the same offense that we've seen for 8 years? Even Aikman questioned the lack of creativity of the offense!

He is probably holding the ball a lot longer because none of the receivers are getting separation.
Or he wasn’t seeing the open guy
I think there was very little separation but I seen a few plays where there was a guy he just didn’t see
And he missed a few open guys with his throws
All combined for a crappy day

The defenses are no longer giving the things Dak likes. They will continue to not give the things Dak likes.

Dak is not very good at taking the things the defenses are currently giving.

This!

I've already said this and I'll say it again. Defensive Coordinators have him figured out. Now It's up to Dak to improve his game.

No more excuses with the coaches. Do we need the coaches to hold his hand during every play?

Not sure about the Aikman comment because I don't remember it, but the offense includes a number of run options and stresses the shorter passing game that plays to Dak's strengths. The problem is that the ball isn't coming out fast enough. The play design of the play that got Jarwin open was beautiful and Dak failled to get the ball to him.

You can razzle dazzle all you want, but in the end, QBs have to execute, linemen have to block and receivers have to catch and that did not happen enough on Sunday.

He is not an NFL qb. Been saying it since day 1.

Day 1, lol

Only have a few concerns with Dak and make me tap the brakes a little.

3 fumbles in 2 games
throwing a pick on the wrong end of the field
Not throwing downfield when WR's have been open. We haven't needed those throws much because we've been in control but that time will come when we need it.
Defenses are getting tape on Dak and will be more prepared for him

Other than that he has been outstanding. Best rookie QB by far and playing like a top 10 qb.

He definitely has mechanic issues but do not know if he processed faster they would improve. Or do the bad mechanics lead to slow execution?

Have him give Mr. Goodwrench a call

He's too conservative due to listening to Garrett. He needs to sling it or take off running......

What he did as a rookie was conservative too, but he wasn't stuck over thinking because he just went with the open guy right away. I don't know if that's his fault, or Garrett's fault or Linnehan's fault - probably some combination.

I thought that was the purpose of a dak friendly rpo, rubs, picks innovative offense was for

This is what happens when you have a young QB with a whole new receiving corps take preseason off. Garrett is braindead and Dak does not look good. He has 15 weeks to get it together. From the wr's to the o line to the rb and qb play they looked sluggish and not ready to play which is exactly what I predicted almost a month ago.

LOL...LOL....LOL....poor Dak simply has bad luck everywhere .....LOL.....:lmao:

I know the pass protection wasn't good, but almost every passing play Dak is taking time looking from his primary target the next to the next. It doesn't appear there is ever a quick read on what the defense is doing and where it will be vulnerable. That's especially important when the pass protection isn't holding up. Some I'm sure is the play calling, but as the QB and the guy standing facing the defense at the line of scrimmage, Dak has to make decisions based on what he sees. As a rookie his strength seemed to be not overthinking situations, and just taking what the defense gives. That doesn't seem to be the case now.
I blame some on the shotgun formation.

You shouldn't fade back out of the shotgun or pistol. You step up. The shotgun or pistol should allow a QB a second or two more to assess the situation because he can see more. This should allow the ball to come out quicker, but in most cases, this does not happen for Dak. He practically never hits on his first read and by the time he comes back to it, it's no longer there. So he fades back to avoid the rush and throws off his back foot, which greatly affects his accuracy. He needs to learn to trust his primary read and if it's there, take it. If not, then step up and hit another read. If it is a longer developing play then move east and west in the pocket, not backwards.

Think Andy Reid would take Prescott for Patrick Mahomes?

In all seriousness, they need to roll Dak out of the pocket a lot more. Rolling out is the only time he is effective at all. He seems hopeless in the pocket.

Except he missed a wide open Jarwin for a huge gain by throwing it his feet when he was out of the pocket. Rolling out gives him more time to see the field, but I wouldn't say he's any more accurate.

He is only more accurate on spur of the moment throws, where he isn't thinking... when he has to think about it they are high, low, or late...

Dak had success his rookie year because the running game was having a great season, protection was ridiculously good and opposing teams weren’t prepared for him. Ever since teams have had tape on this dude, he’s gotten worse and worse.

Watching him pass is just sad. The guy doesn’t have a NFL arm.
I also think that the limited playbook, him using his legs, and DCs around the league not sure really what to do played into it as well.
It was just so different to have a few designed runs in there (vs what we had with Tony) that it froze defenses for Zeke and vice-versa.
DCs caught on, as expected, and now its our turn to re-adjust.
Lightening in a bottle in 2016. Not really repeatable with out some serious tweaking and overall improvement.

Defenses just simply don't care about Dak... He doesn't make them pay for mistakes, and they know he can't. Probably better off with QB by committee at this point... rotate all 3 of them in the game lol.

No doubt he missed that throw which could have been a TD.

But on the whole, he's been better outside the pocket than in it. They should be designing more plays in space for him.

Anybody this is saying it’s the o-line or receivers need to watch without blinders on.

This tweet illustrates what we have seen from Dak since his rookie year. Perfect pocket and two open receivers in the biggest moment of the game. Both Hurns and Beasley are open. He is just as much to blame for the sacks as the o-line.

That's actually a pretty good assessment. His first look was to Beasley but he was doubled with a DB inside and safety over the top. It looks like at that point he shifted to whomever was on the outside left (I assume Williams), but was starting to get a little pressure up the middle. At that point, he pulls it down and starts looking to run, but if he had just slid right in the pocket and kept his eyes downfield, the inside DB on Beasley had blown the coverage and he was wide open coming on the deep in. Plus, Hurns had sat down in the zone and was open because the inside defender jumped to cover Swaim.
