no its the markets' fault, you have top 10-12 qb that the cost they aren't easily replaced. Try harder daks top 10 his pay is round what now 8-10?? players like Daniel jones now in that payday area code.. it happens. Better to say most qbs are overpaid because the top 5 highest paid didn't even make the playoffs last year.
Great post... :starspin:

CowboysWale, if you are looking for real reasons why Dallas didn't beat San Francisco and go farther in the playoffs, your real argument, then explain this aspect:
The >2min when trailing Rating of 55 is a CAREER NUMBER......the 49er's game just happens to be another instance that supports the argument.

It's obvious you're now just throwing dead cats.

What's the sample size and what is the context of other players in similar circumstances?

Really...ever play the sport? That's two insults unsubstantiated by proof on your side of the ledger...good night.

A thread on quarterback scrambling in the 2022-23 season: Looking at just scrambles, we can see that most quarterbacks that scramble generate a positive EPA doing so. However there are types of survivorship bias in play here as we will discuss (1/3)

Not all situations are ideal scramble situations either. Against man coverage, average scramble EPA sits at 0.726 while against zone it’s 0.295. Man coverage is still the dominant call on third downs in the NFL so Dallas would be well served to do majority of the scrambling on third downs when the opportunities are at their best.

Most will agree, since his ankle injury, Prescott has not been the same runner he used to be. But Joe Burrow (seventh) and Aaron Rodgers (10th) aren’t exactly explosive runners themselves yet they still found a way to finish in the top-10 in scramble EPA.

You're using the Dead Cat to produce answers to arguments i'm not making. You're obsessing about the comparisons with other QB's (WHICH ISNT THE POINT). The point is that Dak's rating between >2 min training (and to some extend >4) and all his other ratings are extremely exaggerated, which indicates he struggles in those scenario's.

To quantify that and to show it isnt "the norm", I used the QB's that are often compared to him.....(granted they may have other 'weaknesses), however Dak's Achilles Heel appears the ability to come back with the clock ticking.

Career figures......

Dak - >2 min (trail) Att 150 Rating= 55.................. >4 (trail) Att 258, Rating = 73
Cousins - 2 min.....Att 256 Rating = 81 ................. >4......... Att 418 Rating = 86
Stafford - >2 min...Att 329 Rating = 85 ................. >4 ......... Att 604 Rating = 85
Allen - >2 min........Att 90 Rating = 96 ................. >4..........Att 149 Rating = 96

Just for those that see 'Hater' in every post, it's not a comparison between Dak et al, it's showing that this is the area in which he struggles. Now we can say there's other factors (YES), but it still doesnt overcome the fact that in Dak's career, with different rosters, OC's and schemes, appear to struggle.

To improve, we need to accept and work on weaknesses, denying and hiding away from it just means keep repeating.

The 2021 season was arguably the best season of Dak's career, even though it ended with a Wildcard loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Armed with weapons Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb, Michael Gallup, and Dalton Schultz as pass catchers, Prescott was impressive.

He threw for 4,449 yards at a 68.8% completion rate with a 37:10 touchdown to interception ratio.

In 2022, Prescott faced much adversity. A loss to Tampa Bay in the opener had injury added to insult in the form of a broken finger that sidelined him for five games.

Upon his return, it appeared the finger injury affected him greatly. He finished the 2022 season with a whopping 15 interceptions in just 12 games played.

I don'r know here, is a broken finger a 'number 2 statistic' to even to be considered?

Let me do a drug test to see if have been inhaling for real... :muttley:

Here is where you guys are getting it way wrong. Look at the video once again.

Dak should have realized it was #97, a stand up DE, trying to cover Dalton Schultz at the line of scrimmage. THAT should have been his first sign of who to throw to in case the DE follows Schultz, which he initially did 2-3 steps before running over to help cover CeeDee. There is no way a DE can keep up with Dalton Schultz.

Secondly, when the ball is hiked, Dak first looked at Dalton Schultz before looking over and throwing it to the much more covered CeeDee Lamb. The Lions knew this, hence why the stand up DE covering Schultz immediately rubbed off and ran over to help cover CeeDee over the middle. Dak badly failed to realize this both pre-snap and after the snap. Dalton Schultz was wide open running his fly/go route. Nobody was within 7-8 yards of Schultz!

The correct read and throw should have been to Dalton Schultz. It would have gone for a TD. Instead, Dak obviously pre-snap had his mind set on throwing it to CeeDee, hence Dak first looked at Dalton before looking over and throwing it to CeeDee. The Lions knew this since they had their DE immediately let Schultz run right past him wide open as the DE ran inside to help cover CeeDee. Dak got it wrong. The Lions guessed correctly. The only thing that helped Dak was he was able to squeeze that tight throw into CeeDee with 3 defenders around him, but the better and correct read was Dak should have noticed pre-snap how the DE was covering Dalton at the line of scrimmage, thus it should have made Dak realize Dalton was the one who would become wide open.

@khiladi Correct me if I'm wrong. Do you see what I'm seeing and what others are not seeing?

I don't think there is anything to dispute in your post.

Schultz was wide open, because the blitzer that Dak even pointed to, cleared the space that gave Schultz very clear inside leverage.

Dak was probably going to Lamb from the beginning, as you said. Even then, he was late to his throw, as Lamb was pretty much standing wide open with his hands up.

It's obvious Dak is going for the "safer" throw, but the Lions actually had him figured out on this play. Even the DE immediately left Schultz and instead ran across to cover CeeDee. 3 defenders rushing to cover CeeDee says the Lions had Dak figured out. Most likely due to film study and a pattern they have noticed Dak throwing to during such an alignment. Dak got a little lucky due to his ability to zip that throw into a tight window towards CeeDee, but Schultz was streaking wide open for what should have been a 41 yard TD throw.
The other point is, Moore had Dak go up to the line early to force the defense to show their hand. If they showed the hand, Moore would have enough time to call in the other play he had dialed up.

Also, what is very clear is Dak had all day to throw the ball and the blitz was completely stifled. This is what I mean, when I saw having a high rating against the blitz doesn't tell much, as Dak in 2017 had the highest rating QB on the blitz, but he was absolute garbage that year. Blitzing often indicates a defense can't get pressure and they may bring in an extra defender to try and generate pressure. Teams don't generally blitz elite QBs, except very selectively, as they pick it apart, as it exposes the defensive backfield with one less defender.

Beep Beep: Dang, Brandin Cooks still has that cartoonish Wile E. Coyote roadrunner speed, and not shy about pointing out heading into his 11th NFL season and turning 30 in September, "It's still there." I'll say. Not sure how Dak Prescott managed to overthrow Cooks on what the receiver says was the first "go route" they ran in practice this offseason, but on the second one of the day, Cooks bolt-of-lightning speed tracked it down. And from Dak's perspective, he knows defenses were ganging up on CeeDee last year, though despite that he still caught 107 passes for 1,359 yards and nine touchdowns, but now says, "They can't play him that way with a healthy Michael Gallup and the speed of Cooks." Was a thing of beauty to see on one play with CeeDee motioning over to where Cooks was lined up wide to the right, causing the defense to only double one of them.

Callena Williams/CALLENA WILLIAMS/DALLAS COWBOYS

If the excitement has created anything so far that hasn't existed in the past, it's manifested a linear and consistent way of feeling about how this season will go from an offensive perspective.
And after a season where not being on the same page became a recurring theme, that can only spell improvement at this point in the process.
