Instead of playing like we do every week to make the players fit the scheme. Let's change our scheme and target our players based upon their scoring abilities. Js
Dak has made more bad decisions on the football field than he has since 2017 (no Elliott) and the first half of 2018 (no Amari Cooper, no.1 WR, no.1 TE, and C).He's physically gifted. He's tough. He leaves it all out on the field. He doesn't let bad plays get him down. He says the right things and represents the team well, and his teammates seem to like him. That's all great.
He's also a better quarterback than most.
But if this season has proven one thing, it is this: Dak Prescott is not a smart player.
How can anyone even argue otherwise?
Over and over again, Dak makes the same mistakes. He makes terrible throws to the other team in the worst spots. He throws to receivers who are double and triple covered.
Each time Dak throws a crippling interception, he gets up at the podium after the game and says the same thing: Can't happen. Won't happen. I'll make sure it doesn't happen again.
And then he does it again. And again. And again.
What else can you call a player who doesn't learn?
In tonight's game, Dak threw a terrible ball that would have been yet another easy pick-6, if not for Fuller falling down and dropping it. So what does he do ON THE VERY NEXT PLAY? He throws an even worse ball TO THE SAME SPOT, AND TO THE SAME DEFENDER. Pick 6.
The announcers were tripping over themselves not to call him stupid. Because it was stupid.
Did he learn from it? No. He kept throwing to receivers with two or three Washington players draped all over them.
Oh, sure, we'll win more than we lose with Dak. We'll even put up 30 and 40 points sometimes and look great. But it's an illusion. We won't win games THAT MATTER unless someone can figure out how to fix a quarterback who makes bad decisions this often.
you were responding to my post, and hadn't referenced anyone else? What would make you think I was talking about you?
if you prefer "makes dumb decisions" to "not a smart player," then we are splitting hairs.Dak has made more bad decisions on the football field than he has since 2017 (no Elliott) and the first half of 2018 (no Amari Cooper, no.1 WR, no.1 TE, and C).
To use the language that Dak is not a smart player/QB in incredulous and overtly disingenuous. You do not get to be a QB as long as Dak Prescott has, win as much as Dak Prescott has, and be reward for playing football as Dak Prescott has without being a smart player.
He is the QB of America's team, and has a master's degree. So, not smart is the logic of the original post, and not Dak Prescott.
However. being prone to bad decision making lately is accurate and I have said over and over again that Dak Prescott is not a franchise QB that can carry a team to a Super Bowl with his passing alone. He is not Roger Staubach who retire as the NFL leading passer, Troy Aikman who was the no.1 draft pick overall with one of the highest draft grades coming out of college to the NFL, and is definitely not Dan Marino who literally carried mediocre teams with has QB passing skills for over a decade. Prescott needs what he had in High School, College, and his first year in the NFL, a running game, defense, excellent receivers/TE, a great QB coach, and a solid defense. Knowing this about Dak Prescott, who is putting him in position to sabotage himself?
Start with the GM that messed up the 2017 season in court trying to play who has the biggest balls with Roger Goodell/NFL in the Elliott suspension. In 2018 GM takes his no.1 WR, no.1 TE, and he lost a All Pro C to injury/illness. 2019 he has one of the best seasons by a Cowboys QB but still has one of the worst long term NFL head coaches in Cowboys history (Jason Garrett). You know Dak Prescott cannot carry a team but you make him play without a Head Coach and a solid defense almost every year since 2016. He has had a OC that is learning on the job and 2 Head Coaches that are lame on the job.
So Dak is a product of his environment that leads to bad QB bad decision making that leads to spells of bad QB performances. But, Dak Prescott is smart. He got his duffel bag full of money through all this insanity by a owner that plays GM and defacto Head Coach. You put Dak on the 49ers, he wins, on the Eagles, he wins, on the Saints, he wins, and on the Ravens, he wins. You put him without talent on offense, defense, and coaching, and he will not look like the smart QB he is because of the DUMB decision makers around him.
At least Tony punted it. lol Dak turns it over in his own territory. What's strange is he's never been that kind of QB. He's always been willing to take the sack over taking chances. Now he's looking more like Tony Romo without the plus side of Tony Romo.

I’ve been bring up this for several years. I was always labeled a Dak hater. If Dak was on any other team, he’d be a backup or even out of the league at this point. He’s not “better than most”.
physically gifted? He’s not tall, his mechanics suck, his footwork is questionable, he’s inaccurate and late with his deliveries, his processing speed sucks.. he runs lead-footed. He’s just strong and he can throw when he has time to plant his feet.. Whoopity doo….
He’s also like you said, not smart.. he stares down his WRs.. which people blame on Moore..
The OL and RG has masked his deficiencies to a large degree.
Uhh. my original post quoted no one. you then responded. It's post 36 unedited for the world to see, Sam.you were responding to my post, and hadn't referenced anyone else?
anyway, all good.
here's to hoping for a better result next week.
What’s going on with Dak has nothing to do with his intelligence. A QB doesn’t just all of a sudden become stupid after seven years in the NFL. It’s the fans that are stupid that come up with this stuff.
This isn't true. Ignored for tearing down Romo to prop Dak.Except he WAS a choker though.
Love the guy. Darn good QB.
But everytime he had a chance to do something truly remarkable: he spit the bit.
I could list at least 7 huge team choke jobs he had a hand in.
That’s a stupid question.So he's been stupid all along?
That’s a stupid question.
He’s clearly made some bad decisions, but it’s not because he’s a stupid individual. He’s been forcing a lot of throws this season. The receivers he’s stuck with certainly hasn’t helped him. CeeDee has come on, but Gallup hasn’t returned to form. We’re having to go deep to Noah Brown who’s an average receiver. All our receivers have been dropping balls this season and now TY Hilton has gotten into the act. Our running game has disappeared. Dak has regressed and it started last season. He’s clearly lost some confidence. If he melts down in the playoffs, the Cowboys may start looking at QBs in the draft. Dak has only two years left on his contract, and if his game continues down the path it has he won’t be re-signed.So he doesn't do stupid things on the field? He doesn't make stupid decisions? I think he does. That makes him stupid as far as football IQ goes.
The difference between Dumb and not a smart are not splitting hairs. I can educate you on the difference but it would not help.if you prefer "makes dumb decisions" to "not a smart player," then we are splitting hairs.
smart people can make dumb plays, and dumb people can make brilliant reads in coverage. i addressed the man's alarming propensity to put the ball in bad spots, at critical times and places on the field -- not his business acumen.
anyway, he has the best defense of his career, and what at times has been a dominating complement of offensive players. you can't blame his turnovers on anyone but him.
