This is the best deal all around. Sign the franchise tag bet on yourself again. And take it from there what’s the problem.
I actually like the situation, its not like we have a young Mahomes just waiting on the sideline to step in.
I like the fact that Dak is really on a prove it deal, and I like the fact that this new staff has year to evaluate if Dak is really worth the franchise money.
What cant people like about that opportunity from both sides?
Guarantee you that we will see the very best that Dak can bring to the table, and if his best falls short with MM, than so be it, this team moves in a different direction.
Its not the end for Dak, and its not the end for this team and MM.

Dak did the right thing for himself. I'm not the biggest believer in him but a top 6-8 QB hitting free agency will get whatever he wants. $40 million a year should be no sweat. 3 years, 4 years, 5 years...take your pick.

Dak is also the reason no playoffs last season.

3 easily winnable games against the Patriots, Saints and Mighty Eagles in which he went AWOL and could score more than 10 points

That’s mediocre........nowhere near Elite, as his fanatics and agent want to sell us

That's when they blame special teams or defense!

4 games with no TD passes. 2 games with only 1 TD pass. That's 6 games with a combined 2 TD passes. Elite against the Giants twice, the Commanders twice, Miami and Detroit.

0 TDs with the season on the line, 4 TDs in the final week against the worst team in football with nothing left to play for.. That's how you pad stats.

If Dak flops next year great, at least we won't be stuck with him for 4 more years. If he kills it and I hope he does, the Cowboys win literally and Dak will win literally and monetarily. It's win win that he plays on the franchise IMHO.

I said it months back that Dak was being greedy. Dak is a good QB, and I like him as our QB, but his agent put the greed fever in him.

I want to see Dak win a big game when he does not have one of the other stars in the game, I want to see Dak take it on his shoulders and make a huge comeback win in a big game, and I want to see Dak win deep into the playoffs at least to the NFC Championship game.

Is that too much to ask for before Jerry pays a Kings ransom for him?

Not again Red... negotiating in an open market to get the best deal you can is not greed it's called smart business! If by waiting Dak has a chance to make more money then who are we to call him greedy? Sure I can see how it looks that way to an average everyday Joe, but these guys play the game that is available to them and no one should fault them. Dak has no idea what other teams would offer him because he was tagged. By all accounts this was a smart business move by Dak, and for Colin or even you to sit around and point fingers calling him greedy is just being judgmental and the last time I checked the good lord gave us direct instructions to not take on this type of behavior...
Ok, but turning down the best deal isn't all that smart.

I agree

But he'll still make way more money than the Cowboys offer if he hits free agency healthy. It's not a matter he deserves this vs that. It's a matter of NFL reality.

I have to agree with Colin on this one. Dak was offered a fair value for his talents, had a lot more around him than most, and had stability. I had an opportunity to leave my job for more money but it was not a stable job and the benefits weren’t as great. I stayed because I liked the people I work with. As they say the grass is not always greener on the other side.

Didn't you say the same thing about Dez?

Problem is, he played himself.

He will expose himself this year, and live in regret when teams see this and only want his as a backup.

Teams aren't hurting for a starter. So he better ball out and take us deep in the playoffs. Or else he's looking at maybe 25 mil a year IF he's lucky from a hole in the wall team.

No more Cowboy commercials and endorsement money. You punk

:lmao:

#DontpayDak
Yeah people keep waiting for him to be exposed. Another year goes by and they say the same thing. Stop it

I do, too.

He has set himself up for a huge failure.

With this pandemic..one illness outbreak could end the whole season on Dak.

I doubt if that happens Dak has a zero chance of getting a second Tag or a long-term deal.

Dallas will cut their loses and roll with Dalton and explore the draft in 2021 or trade for a QB.

Dak thinks he is controlling everything.

He can't and I think he finds this out now.

The ball bounces funny sometimes.

It bounced well for him when Romo went down. He ascended and got his shot.

5 years later it has not panned out. That's the risk he took.

Now this virus becomes a player possibly in his path.

Hmmmm...
He hasn’t set them self up for failure. That’s a ridiculous statement don’t you think. Let’s see what happens before you even think about saying that

wut? I joined this site in Dec 2016.

It's indisputable if Dak makes it to free agency healthy, he will make more money than what the Cowboys just offered him.

The question is whether he should've just signed a "fair" deal now and eliminate the risk of Covid or getting injured. I would've signed the deal if I were him but if he wants to max his earnings, he probably did the right thing.
