Dak on why he wants to continue being a Cowboy

Mahomes has a great team around him that’s committed to winning. You don’t see his defense laying eggs. That’s what gives us no inspiration. Mahomes had a INT last night, but his team continued to battle. You don’t win back-to-back Super Bowls without having a great team. The Chiefs have a lot better management than the Cowboys. Our problem isn’t at QB.

I'll grant you the management issue, but.. and I'm very serious here.. have you seen our QB play in the postseason? It's a legitimate issue.

Dak has had some good playoff games. He played well against Green Bay in 2016 and we could have very easily won that game in OT had our defense not choked in the final minute after he brought us back to tie that game. He outplayed Russell Wilson when we beat Seattle in 2018. He outplayed Jared Goff the following week but our defense laid an egg. He played one of the best games of his career against Tom Brady in the 2022 playoffs. The legitimate issue in the playoffs has been the defense. We have a QB that we can win a championship with if we play solid as a team.

Part 1 - Mahomes 10 year deal he quickly agreed vs Daks current deal and the one he’s after.

Part 2 - go through the KC roster and tell us which players we can afford to add with the extra $$ from part 1 above.

That’s the first way Mahomes leads from the front: he isn’t trying to win a personal bag of cash but rather a Lombardi trophy. Cares more about the KC brotherhood than the QB brotherhood. Talent aside, it starts there and it’s all downhill.

All the QBs worth a darn in the league are getting paid big. Go break it down with the other QBs and stop acting like ours is the only one looking to get paid.

Maybe it isn't working for Dak because he isn't as great as many of you would like to think.

If you have a bunch of players that aren’t inspired for a playoff game and come out flat with a defense that quits once it gets punched in the mouth that falls on the head coach. No one is trying to spin that Dak is all world but he’s one of the best QBs we’ve had and we’ve won a lot of games with him. It hasn’t gone well for him or the team in the playoffs but it hasn’t gone well for the team or any QB we’ve have had in the playoffs dating back to Troy Aikman’s final few years. The Cowboys have a team problem, not a QB problem. They’ll have a QB problem if he leaves in free agency after this season.

The good thing is we actually watched those games and it’s not how you narrated it nor are your conclusions correct.

For example,

1. Dak “played well” against Gb and their trash secondary, that was allowing 400 yards per game coming into the playoffs, and he’s no longer here.

2. Apparently when it’s Dallas losing, it’s the defenses fault. But when Dak chokes at home and throws a crucial pick against a garbage defense, that garbage defense isn’t the reason GB lost, it’s the Cowboys “defense” choking.

So now your excuse is the Packers defense in 2016? They were a middle of the pack defense just like ours. The Cowboys defense was ranked only a few spots of head of them. Besides our defense sucks in the playoffs. We had a top 5 defense last season and played like a bottom 5 defense in the playoffs.
