Dak Pocket problems

biggest issue I saw with Dak was that he constantly drifted sideways in the pocket instead of either 1. Letting the ball go quickly 2. Stepping up forward to buy more time. Or just bailing out and taking off running faster.

Drifting is a college QB thing - it doesn't work in the NFL as the Lineman are too fast, it sets QBs up to throw off their back foot, and it cuts off 2/3 of the field.

Was it blocking, Dak confused/indecisive?

He's holding on to the ball way too long. It's a big concern -- that is what poor QBs do when they're not confident enough to take a 3-5 step drop and hit the first or second read.

Spot on. You generally want the ball out in less than three seconds. I can't remember the last Dak did that regularly.

This has been a problem before but we won so it was ignored

I've been saying for weeks that Dak is a rookie, teams will study his weaknesses and react. How he responds to those will determine how well he does long term

He does hold the ball too long, he had happy feet and is not very accurate downfield

That is not hating on Dak
That is just honest evaluation

This is exactly why there is s Sophmore slump

This is also why I've been against this whole "trade Romo" stuff. We have no idea right now how good or bad Dak will be. It is too early to say he is the next franchise QB

I sometimes get the impression that he is to tentative to fit the ball into tight windows. Granted I haven't seen the all 22 view, but it does appear that he is too worried about getting picked instead of firing the ball in there. NFL open is different that College open. Does anybody else think that he might be too conservation? As weird as that sounds, you don't want your QB to throw picks but you got to be willing to make some close throws.

It really concerns me that he seems to be oblivious to pressure when guys are around him.

I think we all god spoiled by Tony having that sixth sense about him, with being able to sense pressure and avoid it perfectly.

But Dak isn't confidently reading the defense anymore, and even if he sees a passing lane, he won't let it rip. How many balls did we see that bounced at a receiver's feel last night? It is typical rookie struggles, but do we really want to risk losing out on this amazing season and just hope that he can learn on the fly, in his first season? I sure don't.

He wasn't too worried about throwing deep into double coverage where Dez literally had zero chance of making the catch  Gosh, that was such a terrible decision.

Oh, and the one where Dez had a clear step on the CB, but Dak ended up hitting the CB in the back with the ball. Disgusting

Some of those throws yesterday were very Tebow like. High, wide, short and outside.

This loss does not fall squarely on Dak. That's my honest assessment.

It is a team game for sure and there is blame to go around, but Dak was really poor last night. Dude has been legit and made some game changing plays this season, but he should go to work this week to make sure he is better against Tampa.

if we don't get a qb that can make the passing game go wont win another game playoff we will be one and done.
I agree. I love Dak but can we really afford to waste an 11-2 start just to give Dak some experience? We didn't stick with Mayowa when he was floundering. We had Anthony Brown take over starting duties from Scandrick. Why can't we play the best QB if the current starter is struggling? They do need to get Romo ready if Dak looks bad against the Bucs because the division and a deep playoff run could be slipping away.

His footwork was way off last night and balance is usually his strength

NYG do a great job of pushing the pocket from the middle and took away his escape routes.....he scrambled right into pressure a couple times and took way too long on a couple others

Hopefully it was a huge learning experience

Yep. All night I was screaming at him to throw the ball.
