Fine, but you know what I said was right. He didn't finish the game so it's not a win for him. But its not the point is it. Even if you gave him that win, he still doesn't have a winning record so where does any of this impact the point? IF Dak signs, IF. But how does it drop his cap number by 20 mil and more importantly, why do you pay out a record deal to a guy who can't win you games? Why don't you busy yourself with explaining those claims.
I didn't give him the win.. The NFL record books do. The starter gets the win or the loss. THat's just how it's done. I am sorry it doesn't jibe with your narrative but that's the reality. I have already explained how signing him to a long term deal lowers his cap number. I don't really know that I can explain it any simpler. If someone else can break it down in terms you can follow they can have at it. As far as Dak's impact it's also pretty simple. With Dak you are an average defense from being a contender. Without him you need an all star team comprised of Doomsday, the Steel Curtain and the '85 Bears to have a chance. Dak has shown over the past season plus that he can lead an offense to better than 30 ppg. If you pair that with a defense that yields 25 ppg you're going to win 12-13 games every year. If you pair it with a defense that yields 35 ppg you're going to win 2-3 games every year. The bottom line is that it's easier to shore up the defense than it is to find a franchise QB who can operate an offense at a 30+ ppg rate. Even the most dug in Dak hater would have to concede that. The simple fact remains that with Dak this offense was even better than it was last year. If we were just getting the same level of defense we got last year the team would be 5-1. Well.. make that 4-2 because last year's defense could not have helped on Monday night..
Right now the difference between the offense with Dak and with Dalton is about 23 points. Now I would guess that over time the gap would close to say, 12-14 points. I mean surely Dalton can guide the team to 20 ppg over these last 20 can't he? Even at that, Dak being worth 2 or more TDs per game says it all. That's why you pay the man. And you try like hell to lock him up long term so you don't have to go through this again for another 10 years.
