he certainly didn't have his best "stats" game and yet, the offense was in TOTAL control of this game...he did sail a few passes (DEz should have had at least one TD), he did look at Dez A LOT, not necessarily a bad things, but if they had lost 24-19, everyone would be saying "he didn't look sharp, he threw to Dez too much, blah, blah, blah"

I felt like he was in control every time he stepped on the field...statistically, a 6 out of 10...leadership/control of game 10/10

I think Romo spoiled us with his accuracy. Dak wasn't super accurate last season and he looks as if he won't be super accurate this season. I know someone will say "look at the stats" but his ball placement has never been great. He is an athletic QB who takes care of the ball and throws high percentage passes most of the time. He made the plays that this team needed and that's what mattered.

I don't believe that Dak will ever be the guy to win an all out, high scoring, TD match...but he fits this team model with time of possession in mind. Short completions, run the ball, chew up the clock...and he takes care of the ball.

He reminds me a lot of Cam Newton, passing wise: Incredibly athletic, can make the throws, but not pinpoint accuracy. Dak has other skills though that make up for this. His ability to run last night proved vital...but he had more than his share of poor throw s last night.

Played a hell of a game. Secured the ball. Made tight throws. Played what was given to him against a top-5 D.

19-3. Last year people were jumping off the ledge after the Minnesota game, let alone the two Giants games. We just tonka-smashed a great D.

A Dez drop and a Butler drop lowered his stats, but his stats were still on par with QBs such as Rodgers, today. Even better.

Yes, the Giants O is pathetic, but our Dak is not playing against the Giants O. It's their $200 mil D he's playing against.

Our O was amazing, all things considered (without getting into how badarse our D was) . But lookout, Dak made no major mistakes tonight, and this was a good D squad we beat.

G'un be a nice season. And Dak is gonna lead the way. These "ledge" threads and "Dak played bad" threads are hogwash. Pure hogwash (without going after their OPs).
I disagree... Dak played fine but has a lot of work to do to be the guy that got us in the playoffs last season. I'm not one to criticize every little thing he did wrong but it suffices to say his fundamental mechanics looked off too much of the time. I'll take what he gave us but when he reviews his performance, he's going to see he has way more that he needs to clean up than he anticipated... the coaching staff will see the same thing and they'll get together and hash it our. I have no doubt we see a better Dak Prescott next week. I understand I'm being hard on a player all of us really like but we don't get where we want to go without him and I just think he can do much better. He's his own worst critic so I've said enough.

Little accuracy issues can be fixed. The more important point is that he commanded the offense, had no turnovers, and he seemed to always be aware of what was coming from NY's blitz packages....absolutely zero confusion in his game today. That's a big improvement from last season.
Early, I thought some of the errant passes were the result of not setting his feet properly... will have to review the game. If that is the case, it will be fixed quickly. Regardless, you hit the nail on the head: no turnovers, no panic and in control of the offense. I'll take that every day.

Big stage, week 1, national television, tough defense.

62% completion, 0 turnovers. Sometimes they won't all be 30/30, 400 yard, 5 touchdown blowouts, guys. I watched a young quarterback do what he needed to do against an elite defensive front to get a win.

Other guys stepped up, too - game ball should go to Terrence Williams.

He threw a few high, but my only complaint about the offense ( a HUGE complaint) is passing three times from the 2 yard line.

For Dak, he played the offense that the circumstances of the game called for. The defense was superb, and the only way the Giants were going to get back in it was a defensive momentum changer.

I said in another thread Dak would have to be the key to the game, but I was wrong. No need to be a hero tonight--just don't screw it up. Well done.

T-Will was amazing. I had no idea how much pain he was in. Did you see him limping afterwards? Butler hurt his ankle too. Hopefully they're both fine.

He had a bit of the shakes early on but settled in fine. That's what impressed me. What were some of you expecting, week 1 of the season? Especially against an elite defense?

I felt Dak was a little off the mark but I also give a lot of credit to a very good defense in NY. Overall Dak stayed under control and never got flustered by the Giants defense. Can't say the same for Eli vs the Cowboys defense.
