He was off with his accuracy for about the 1st quarter. He was overpumped and rifling them in there too much. I actually think in the second half on some of the shorter passes he started to take a little too much off as those passes could've gotten there a little more quickly.

But, he made a lot of excellent plays and throws in the second half. The playcalling didn't do him any favors.

Played a hell of a game. Secured the ball. Made tight throws. Played what was given to him against a top-5 D.

19-3. Last year people were jumping off the ledge after the Minnesota game, let alone the two Giants games. We just tonka-smashed a great D.

A Dez drop and a Butler drop lowered his stats, but his stats were still on par with QBs such as Rodgers, today. Even better.

Yes, the Giants O is pathetic, but our Dak is not playing against the Giants O. It's their $200 mil D he's playing against.

Our O was amazing, all things considered (without getting into how badarse our D was) . But lookout, Dak made no major mistakes tonight, and this was a good D squad we beat.

G'un be a nice season. And Dak is gonna lead the way. These "ledge" threads and "Dak played bad" threads are hogwash. Pure hogwash (without going after their OPs).

Dak didn't have one of his better games.

:hammer: @Trouty

Took this from @percyhoward from the other thread

The high throws in the beginning did infuriate me, but he was solid against the best defense in the league imo.
I think he had some Brett Favre adrenal gland control issues last night in the first half...took him a bit to settle down...I loved how he used his legs to extend drives in some crucial game situations. It was his best game against that defense which is showing me want I want to see this year...IMPROVEMENT.

Let's see what he does vs Broncos. I'm more worried about this OL on a slow field.
I even mentioned that someone would bring that up in my post which tells me you failed to read the entire post and also missed the part where I credited him as being the right fit for what the team wants to do... there have been some QB gurus even point out his poor ball placement. He is very cautious with the ball and throws short routes to move the chains. If anyone believes his ball placement is good, they need their eyes checked. Even Dak knows it isn't good, as he was constantly pointing at himself all night.

It is what it is. He's a great fit for the team just like Wilson is a great fit in Seattle. The way these teams are constructed, they need QB's with those skill sets to move the ball with their legs. The comparisons to Brady are ridiculous though.

His Ball placement was damn good last season.

he played it safe. he was pressing at times. despite 61% completion, he left a lot of plays on the field. I don't think he was accurate, where he placed the ball for the WRs. few examples, including the Beasley great catch. he missed throwing in front of Williams on one play, where the DB knocked the ball, because Williams had to slow down and reach behind. ON the Butler throw in the middle, he should have lead him, instead threw to the numbers and DB reached in and knocked it. On couple of the screen passes, Zeke had to stop to catch, instead of catching on the run, on the end zone throws to Dez, he was high on couple of them. its just the ball placement was way off.

but also, on a few throws,, he placed it exactly where it needed to be.

my expectations are he is either a good QB, who will struggle with accurate ball placement, but be safge and throws no Ints....or if he is truly elite, then he needs to be elite. all the little things count.

Little accuracy issues can be fixed. The more important point is that he commanded the offense, had no turnovers, and he seemed to always be aware of what was coming from NY's blitz packages....absolutely zero confusion in his game today. That's a big improvement from last season.

I think he was too hyped up and just needed to settle down a bit. Not worried about Dak at all.

I think that getting the ball to Dez so that he can humiliate Jack the stripper, really threw Dak of his game early on. Looks like Dak was trying to hard and missed him open on a few occasions.

I watched redZone all Day and almost all QBs looked a bit rough except like Alex smith on Thursday. Dalton about got benched he was so bad, Matt Ryan Should've lost to the bears, cousins and Wentz were marginal, Rodgers wasn't spectacular, Stafford was meh for most of that game, Roth was unimpressive and nearly lost to Cleveland and a rookie. Almost all of them threw at least one INT some of which were returned for scores. Wilson was crummy and threw for zero scores. I'd say all around it was a rough day for QBs across the board and all of them looked a bit rusty, so considering that I'll take Dak's day and move on esp since he was playing a much better D than almost everyone else. I expect Dak will be even better as the season goes on. Heck, had he gotten better play calling and everyone caught what they were supposed to he would've put up another 11 points for a grand total of 30 against one of the best D's in football.

The biggest step in Dak's game is he got that NY monkey off his back.

This just shows me his mental makeup......................Dak aint got 'Lose' in him.

Everyone knows being a QB in the NFL is 90% mental and 10% physical............Dak seems to have just that.

Hang on to your lugnutz........this is gonna be a blast.

How so? I'm of the mind it was of an unexpected twist,, ( other than that first-n-goal at the 3 yard line/ pass 3x's) and enjoyed the spiced up flavor,,, but I guess if all you ever eat is boiled unsalted taters,,, you'd get fuzzed up tooo_O

I just felt like we got too cute on short yardage a bunch of times, as you said. We'd get them on their heels with a 12 yard Zeke run and then try some weird shotgun empty set stuff right after...missed a couple of opportunities to step on their necks.

Passing 3x straight inside the 5 was inexcusable, imo.

I think Dak's biggest problem last night was trying to do too much. He feels he has command of the whole offense and feels he can change plays at the line of scrimmage ala Romo but he is not quite there yet and confused himself at times it seemed. Probably one of the toughest defenses he will play based on last year.

I though the same thing remembering how Favre would always be high on his throws to start a game.

One constant for Dak is that when his footwork and placement is off, his accuracy suffers.

If we were to play the Giants every week, the numbers Dak put up would be about what you'd see. Every defense is not going to present that level of problems. Unfortunately, next week is also a tough defense, so prepare for more "Dak is done" threads.

The Giants got a total of one sack against the Cowboys and Zeke Elliott still had over a 100 yards rushing. In a first game, that is still high cotton against a strong defense that all agree upon, for the Giants.

The Cowboys had 3 sacks...Lawrence - 2, and Tapper's.
