He still had the skill but couldn't stay healthy. They hurried that drive up and got him out of there fast so he wouldn't get hit. Practically an exhibition game anyway. But I will say Dak needs to be able to throw the ball down field. Can't play dink and dunk unless you have the Ol for it and we don't anymore. Dak is playing scared and he needs to get over it. This is his third year and he needs to prove he's a franchise QB.
I personally would have tried to see if Romo could stay on the field, but it is hard to call the decision to keep Dak wrong. He was having a career year and the chance to seamlessly transition from one franchise QB to another is a rare gift.

But to say that Dak was the better QB when healthy simply isn't true.

I agree about the availability and I think that is why they made the switch, and the fact that Dak wasn't making a lot of mistakes made it easier for them to do that. That's not the same as beating him out though.

I will go as far to say that if Tony had Zero health issues he would still be our QB and we probably would not have even drafted Dak in the 4th round . I believe Jerry was that loyal to Tony . I also believe Jerrys love for Tony had a hand in what went down as I think he truly feared for Tonys long term health .

I know as a true Fan of Tony Romo it was very hard to see him go but it would have been much worse if he had a life altering injury trying to play in a compromised state . Tony has a great job and his health and family . I am happy for him .

Yeah, I wanted a different end to the story for him. But even though I didn't like it at the time I could understand why we moved on, and it looks like it is working out for Tony just fine.

Dak Supporter here. Dallas fan of over 40 years as well. I support any QB of my Cowboys, period. Dak will never be Aaron Rodgers, but that's ok..he doesn't have to be. Understand this, all QB'S need the oline to play decent enough or it musses up the works. Case and point, last week. Enough blame to go round, but a good starting point is oline. That's how you fix teams..from the trenches out.
you're aware Dak holding onto the ball for eternity is what's causing MOST sacks to happen?

I hate to think how difficult a time Dak is going through right now. You know the guy is working as hard as anyone, saying and doing all the right things, watching tons of tape, consulting with coaches and players. You can easily tell he is a really good dude. I just don't see him overcoming his lack of talent, particularly with opposing DCs hones in on him and the coaching staff doing nothing to mask his lack of talent like they did so well in 2016.

The limitations in Dak's play could be thrown shade by leaning heavily on Zeke, playing possession football, preserving the defense through TOP and taking some shots downfield to keep those DBs thinking about it.

But no, let's throw on first down for nothing, get a penalty on second down, run for nothing and then get sacked before punting.

Maybe. But I'm not the one pretending Romo never had problems with his back.
I never said that he didn't have problems with his back. I just don't believe that he was as fragile as some made him out to be. The compression fracture was a freak accident and he was fully healed from it. He knew the risks and was willing to take them.

Then why is he retired?

I think you are forgetting how bad Romo looked in 2015.
I remember 6 INTs against Buffalo, plus numerous others. He was a good QB, but it just did not happen for him here in his window of time. It is the past after all.
I am still upset that they let Troy Aikman go the way they did.

See? Just as I said, everyone. Let Dak use his legs more, and he will play well. This game was proof of what I was saying.
