Not sure why this franchise has never looked to the 1st round of the draft to get QB. Every other team has their guy, and we have doodoo prescott.
thank your GM. they relish they can gave success by finding "late round" gems to show they are "football men".

straight ego. then fragility to not upset the incumbent

Neither of those guys play on that cap hit lol. The stupidity on this forum about cap numbers is crazy.

Ryan Tannehill had the second-highest cap hit in the NFL this year, at $36.6m, ~$10m higher than Dak and ~$500k less than Mahomes.

I also like how this thread is full of people saying "Mahomes is way better than Dak!" like it's some kind of insight.

No kidding. He's the most talented QB to ever play the game

Hmmm… could it have to do with who’s available at your pick… exactly how many 1st round picks on QBs has Washington, Cleveland, Jacksonville etc etc dropped?

They need to tank next year. It's the best long term solution.

Patrick Maholmes has been to the championship game every single year he started…..

Dak has never been and he’s 30 yrs old

We really gonna keep doing this?…seriously?

Dak. $59,000,000

Maholmes $57,000,000
Who's better than Dak? Who can we get to only throw 2 first half INTs in playoff games? They don't grow on trees you know.

The benefits of a 10 year contract vs a 4 year deal. What should really tick everyone off is that over the course of Mahomes's 10 year deal, Dak will make more money that Patrick.

Dak's 4 year deal was as stupid a move for Jerry as giving him $40 million. Jerry would have been better giving Dak $40 million in salary for 4 years, then at least he wouldn't be stuck with the pro-rated bonus money he pushed out to the end of Dak's contract.. But this is what happens when you use contracts like credit cards. And we are going to do it again. If Dak signs another short term deal Jerry has to make it cap friendly in the first years then take the biggest hits at the end of the contract. If Dak signs for $60 million, be prepared for the final year of Dak's contract to be $90 million against the CAP.

Jerry has to stand firm on this contract. He cannot give away all his leverage, non can he mortgage the future when Dak will be 36. The problem is, Jerry gave up all the leverage to Dak in his last deal. Now he is pretty much stuck with 2 choices. Pay Dak again, or take a couple of rebuilding years at least by letting Dak play out his last year then take a huge CAP hit next year when Dak leaves.

you are absolutely 100% right. With players and head coaches Jerry will continue trying to force a square peg into a round hole. Over and over and over again. He has hoped for nearly 30 years that he could hit big on an obscure guy which in his sick mind would justify him as a premier football guy. He's sick.
