An unrealistic one, good point.
What exactly do you consider "unrealistic". Thanx for chiming in.

True it doesn't matter, it also doesn't matter that you think they are. If 8-8 floats your boat, fine.Doesn't matter if you're tired of it. This team is talented.
You quoted me clown.Thanx for chiming in.
[/QUOTE]Witness the bastion of Daktards: statistics. If statistics somehow say Dak was the most accurate QB in the NFL last year, that tells you all you need to know about statistics. Lies, damn lies, and statistics. I’m forever puzzled why these Daktards won’t trust their eyes. Just watch the games.
QUOTE="Future, post: 10015815, member: 2992"]Saying Dak has "super average skills" is...dumb. He was the only QB in the top-5 in both air yards and accuracy last year. Not sure how that counts as average. Literally no quarterback in the league threw it as far and as accurately as he did last year. Not one.
But please, keep blathering about how he has average skills.
Along with the cap expanding over the next few years, a new player's agreement could push up available funds as well.
Then a negotiated contract now, and not placement of a tag...that hits the cap immediately. A contract, can be worked around and hit effects juggled over three to four years. This puts more immediately available funds into play right now. The team better gain in player quality and retentions as well. The defense needs some free agent acquisitions as well as upgrades...
As to Dak Prescott, the phrase was pay the pain, before the champagne. Here, Dak, in all games started...is 40 wins and 24 losses. Over the past three seasons, Dak also has the 2nd most come-back wins in the entire NFL. Shortly, the contract fo Dak this year...as stated above, will not be record setting.
The NFL is geared to the excitement of the fan...oh, it will survive and the media will do all that it can to further that exact outcome. You're guessing that the cap will keep expanding in the future. Look at NASCAR for example. Lots of empty seats in NFL stadiums this year and for the last several years. The golden calf may actually melt over the next few years.

Dak will probably be renegotiating his next contract in 3 or 4 years. This is one of the hang ups. Cowboys FO want to lock him up long term so that his contract is a bargain in a few years but Dak wants a shorter deal that allows him to re up after new QB contracts raise the going rate for a QB.
Jerry will get fleeced in this negotiation.
That also means that for 3 or 4 years it's NOT a bargain.
That doesn't erase the fact that him demanding anything more than fair market value is pure breed.

We'll be rebuilding in 3-4 years when Zack, Tyron, Fred, Dlaw, Zeke are all done. This team is built to win now.
Ding Ding Ding...Winner...So by the time the contract looks good, we're at the table again.I've been skipping over this thread. Because how can Dak's deal be a bargain 3 or 4 years from now, when we will need to re-sign him 3 or 4 years from now? The hold up in his negotiations is he doesn't want to sign a long term deal. He's basically forcing the team's hand now, so he can force their hand again in a couple of years.
