He’s proven over and over again that he’s great at padding stats against lesser teams and not able to get over the hump against really good teams even with a stacked roster. Just look at last year’s Greenbay playoff game, he’s done it over and over and over . It’s crazy to give a QB like that 60M a year and take up so much cap space. THAT’S NOT FAKE NEWS THAT’S REALITY
Reality is that Jerry could have decided to move on from Dak this offseason. If he really had any long timed intentions or genuine wishes to spend more money in free agency to add to and build up the Cowboys roster. But some choose to keep on believing the cap space excuse of Jerry and Stephen keeps on giving. They had the perfect opening this offseason to let Dak walk and decide to draft a QB in 2025, if their plans and intentions were to ever start spending more by being more active in free agency and trading. And if they actually thought Dak was preventing them from any predetermined intention to spend more money.
But some will still act like Jerry wants so badly to become one of the top spenders in the NFL and that Dak forced Jerry to sign and extend him. And has held Jerry hostage from finding ways to spend more money to improve the team.
Jerry and Stephen actually may have preferred to sign Dak. Because they know it's easier for them to escape accountability by sitting back and watching the fanbase solely blame Dak for the failures of this franchise. And fault Dak for the front office's cheap roster building ways. Than it would be to move on from Dak. Then have the pressure be on them. Knowing it takes a competent and talented front office, to first hit on drafting the right QB. And then having to actually put in the hard work and real effort to give that QB all of the weapons and tools he needs to thrive and be successful in the NFL. Rather than just drafting a QB and refusing to use his rookie contract to make the team around him better through free agency. Then expecting him to take a roster full of cheap, bargain bin players and compete with other teams who have front office's actually putting in an effort to give their QB a chance to succeed in the NFL.
Because Jerry is the type of GM who would believe that a QB should be good enough to singlehandedly elevate the Cowboys and get them to the Super Bowl, with the current way the Cowboys structure their roster. Just because that QB was drafted in the first round. And there would be some in the fanbase who would agree with this and believe drafting a QB in the first round is enough to fix the Cowboys issues without the Cowboys front office having to put any real work to change the future of this franchise.
