Dak's contract

When you cut out all the fluff and headlines, it is actually a 3 year 97M deal. Thats the guaranteed money. The way the contract is currently structured , we have an out after the 2023 season if Jerry doesn't do a restructure of it...........which I agree is a long shot.

The upshot here is that if he continues to struggle against everyone outside the NFC East, there is an opportunity to move on sooner than most think.

Don’t you think there’s a lot of NFL history of drafting bad QB’s? Seems not easy and getting a Lamar Jackson means passing on guys nearly everyone thinks will be better. (One example)

In all honesty the most likely outcome is that he holds out after three years and refuses to play for the 29 million in base salary. This contract and everything that went along with it such as the use of the franchise tag prior to signing and all the guaranteed money was a master class negotiation by Dak and his agent and a complete bend over and take it from Jerry.

I agree. This is all pie in the sky. But, unplanned seasons like 2015 and 2020 can happen. Jerry could care less what fans think. None if it affects his bottom line as PSL holders have to buy the season tickets no matter what or lose the PSL. If Dak is one and done in the playoffs this year, the pressure goes way up next year.
Jerry is 81 years old and desperately wants another SB.
Dak better start delivering cause Jerry ain't got time to waste!;)

Jerry has zero leverage. Daks money is guaranteed for three years. The franchise tag is out the window and the potential out is no out at all. The 29 million in base salary for year 4 is the only true value for the team as far as that contract goes and as I stated before the Cowboys will never opt out of it. Dak would have to completely fall apart. Based on his play this year and his career to date it is much more likely that Dak tells Jerry to go pound sand he isn't showing up for the 29 million and we end up giving him another massive extension with 150 million guaranteed for 3 more years. It really is quite shocking how bad the contract is for the team but in reality there is not much you can do except pay your QB what he wants and hope and pray he can deliver.

This is your only good post with the word Dak in it ever.

Good job.
All my posts are awesome pertaining to Dak you just don't like them as you have issues with the truth and reality.
This is something I cannot help you with.
Then again you might have a field goal or 3 an out-fetish?
Then Go Dak I guess.....

Why are we talking about getting out of Dak's contract sooner than most people think is possible? Is the OP under the impression we are 5-11 rather than 11-5 and headed to the playoffs as NFC East champs?

but you’re right. Don’t think it took any current QB playing right now whose actually won a super bowl more than 6 years to get there.

Russel Wilson
Rodgers
Brady
Ben
Mahomes
Even Jimmy G

‘Did they have Garrett as coach lol.

There’s really no reason for fans to get serious about winning a championship when we have an owner who’s top priority isn’t winning one.

Jethro has most of us all bamboozled. Fans are buying into the hype /perception and why he continues the revenue juggernaut.

……is Jerry getting any compensation for the Cowboys mask in your avatar?

Not sure what you are referencing. I use spotrac. We have 2 years left on Daks contract if we don't restructure it. Year 4, his cap hit jumps to like 48M.

The pressure goes up on McCarthy. Not necessarily Dak. There’s always a fall guy. And I don’t expect it to be our QB. It might be in the media or with fans but not with who matters most.

McCarthy was brought in to take Dak and this team to the next level. If he can’t that’s going to be on him not Dak. At least in our owners eyes.

Who knows. Probably like any other avatar. I have no idea. I’m using it though to promote something else so I don’t care. Thanks

Been saying this for years... Jerry is already a HOF'r, 3 time SB winning owner, Franchise bought for under 200 million, and is now worth 7.5 billion. He does not care about what you care about!!!
If he did he would live and breathe trying to win a SB, hire the best HC, Front office, analytics teams, etc, etc, etc. There is no salary cap for organization, front office teams. Jerry is close to 80 and satisfied and fulfilled. It is us fans who have suffered since January 1996, the 1995 season. He just cares about the news, hype, sizzle, first take, ESPN, Skip & Shannon. Zeke, Dak, contract, all the stuff that has nothing to do with a winning organization. This is why Jimmy hated him, because he wanted all the glory but didn't do the work.
I have realized I am in my very early 40's, I saw 3 SB championships and I really don't expect another one. My top level expectation is reaching a NFC championship game. To me that is a sign of success.
I am not trying to be a downer I really am not but having seen Jerry's ownership from 1989 to present, we have 5 years while Jimmy was coach that Jerry was kept at bay.
I give Jerry credit for learning to draft better and stop trading two number one picks for WR's, but this organization needs a total cultural breakdown and rebuild...again I said cultural. Talent wise we are not the Jaguars or Jets..
This so called Americas team doesn't really compute anymore. This is the longest SB appearance drought. We thought the 80's were rough.
1992-1978 was the 14 year drought that Troy & the Boys squashed.
Now we are at 1995 --> 2021--Going on 26 years.
Please look at the numbers, years, facts before going offf

What about Romo? He was here for 10 years and won nothing. Jerry kept extending him. Do you think Jerrah has changed?

Well certainly MM would be on the hot seat in year 3, particarly if their is an opportunity to land Sean Peyton who is QB-less in New Orleans. Dak is guaranteed at least through the 2023 season. So, the answer may be to get a Sean Peyton in here to salvage his career. Hell, he had Jameis Winston looking good before he got injured.
