Dak's contract

So you're correct, Dak is not like the Jets, he lost to them.
i said i dont want the team to be the jets.
always drafting a qb because...unlike us...they don't have one.
but keep playing pretend.

Yeah, I think half of this forum would leave for a few years if we won the Big One. They spend so much time hating or being sad that I think this place is like therapy for them. Don't you take that away from them by winning a Super Bowl, Jerry!
some of them are the most miserable bunch i've ever encountered.
cept capt crash.
he's a good dude.

When you cut out all the fluff and headlines, it is actually a 3 year 97M deal. Thats the guaranteed money. The way the contract is currently structured , we have an out after the 2023 season if Jerry doesn't do a restructure of it...........which I agree is a long shot.

The upshot here is that if he continues to struggle against everyone outside the NFC East, there is an opportunity to move on sooner than most think.

The out after 2023
POTENTIAL OUT: 2024, 3 YR, $126,000,000; $28,900,000 DEAD CAP

42mil/year if we take the out.

Why on earth would we hope to win a super bowl when we can all post negative whiny posts about our players instead?
giphy.webp

Yeah this us so much more better then winning a Super Bowl . . . so this was Jerry's plan in 2016 . . . genius

unlike skill players like Zeke, ac, and Dlaw , he will be here for while unless injuries like Romo make him hard to keep.
Injuries like ROMO? . . dudes leg was hanging off. . . and now his shoulder or ankle injury have caused him to suck . . . at what point do we claim Dak is an injury prone QB

The quarterback is the least of the Cowboys problems. Dak is a top 10 quarterback by most metrics. I will say that there are two quarterbacks in the NFC that are head and shoulders above Dak in the NFC Brady/Rodgers but Stafford/Murray/Hurts/ Jimmy G are not better then Dak. Stafford/Murray are on the same level. The Cowboys came into season rated anywhere from 6th to 10th in the NFC now every one wants to say the Cowboys are a disappointment.:laugh:. The playoffs will tell all. Dak gets a home game against a top 6 NFL team. Can’t wait!!!!!!
Why is Stafford not head and shoulders above Dak . . why is Murray not better . . . and Jimmy would shine on the Cowboys

WE /YOU?? neither has an out, hes not going anywhere. you dont run a team and thing goodness for that., fans are ridiculous! really some clueless fans in the zone and the social media outlets, horrible fans really.

unlike skill players like Zeke, ac, and Dlaw , he will be here for while unless injuries like Romo make him hard to keep.

so we can stop the hate posts already Jerry sees Dak as true franchise qb and will be here form very long time. This is wasted energy.

Now those other players wont be here in 2023 so we will have plenty of cap to work around and sign the next wave of stars. you know Diggs, parsons, Lamb and others. Its a reciprocal process, this is how it is and always will be.

so please stop 45 Dak posts, 23 zeke posts and many others about fans believing they know what's best for the team about contracts and who should play, start,, be cut, be demoted etc etc. you dont not one of you know more than our coaching staff or FO, they've been doing this most of their adult lives.

Just be fan and watch and debate game plan. After the season we can debate 2022 roster but 23 OMMFFG!!
get over yourselves already.

I don't think Jerry is as sold on Dak as you are.
Remember, Wentz and Goff got their 100M extensions long before Prescott got his and they were both traded away.

Excellent post, dear lad!

But I think of Dak's contract this way:

4 years for $160 mil a year and a $66 million signing bonus.
Am I correct?
But beyond the silly amount paid, no matter how average or subaverage Dak will be, Jerry will take care of him the way he would for zeke, our overpaid twins.
No lad, let's have none of that! None of that we can exit sooner than later.
Jerry will take care of the average, inept and infirm and passive aggressive. And keep them beyond their expiration dates.
We, lad, are not a normal franchise, because, unfortunately, Jerry's heart is bigger than his brain.

I don’t see JJ cutting/trading Dak anytime soon. Might as well hope the best with him.

Well, if we win a super bowl with Prescott, that changes the whole narrative. Right now, he's in year 6 of his career and has 1 wildcard playoff game win. He doesn't win many games outside the division. So, if I was a betting man............ my money would not be on Dak leading us to a super appearance. Heck, I'd be happy with an NFC title game appearance.
I like Dak, and this fact isn’t just about Dak, but it also doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence that Dak can get the job done. We need Daks play from weeks 1-8 or so.

DAK'S CONTRACT?????? WHY REMIND US, WE'RE IN FOR PURE HELL THE NEXT COUPLE OF YEARS. Hopefully, SJ will be running things in a couple of years and will do what his father wouldn't do, KICK HIM TO THE CURB!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So you think the FO has done an excellent job and shown a great track record in paying talent appropriately?

Most here don't need to be shown a poor track record since Jimmy was fired to know the FO didn't have a clue, sorry.

How long has it been since they won a SB?. They must be on a roll....... It's just not in the right direction.

The real problem with this team is that FO doesn't have the Balls to run this team without emotion because the dollars come win or lose.

Fish or cut bait, is not in the organization's mantra. Too many players, more often than not cash out because of s good year, and the front office panics they may lose that guy.

20 plus years of stupidity is more than long enough to wake the hell up and be objective. Jerry's ego is this organization's Achilles heel. End of story.

You deserve a kiss on the lips.

I don't think the front office is looking for an out with Dak. They originally wanted to sign him longer. Moreover, if there was even an inkling to get rid of Dak I would hope the next QB would be on the radar and unless it is DiNucci it is just not the case.
I would like us to draft or bring in a young guy for competition for Dak. I don't think the Jones would hesitate to restructure his contract unless 1 scenario happens. If we get trounced in the playoffs next week and it's obvious Dak was the weak link and then started next year with Dak still in his slump, then I can see the Jones moving on. The main question with Dak is 1. Is he injured and in a slump or 2. Did Denver expose him as a QB that can't read defenses on the fly or if a team disguises defenses.

I love Dak but I love the Cowboys more. I'm hoping that these playoffs and the start of next season answers the question of whether it's premise #1 or premise #2. And I hope the Jones can put their personal feelings aside and make the right decision it's premise #2. I personally hope Dak balls out and gets us to the NFCCG and this whole debate can be put to rest but I'm not counting on it.

So we can get serious about winning a Super Bowl in two years?
Yes indeed, thats what Jerry does, he is the best in the business at keeping fan base on the hook.
Had the pleasure of shaking the mans hand once, and it wasnt sweaty at all, cool as a cucumber.
