It will not be about his performance this year, but whoever the next HC (likely Belichek) selects as Offensive Coordinator.

Any predictions about who that OC could be?

Dak is playing in an offense that plays more to his strengths as a passer (west coast slants, comebacks, seams), but the design of it is stale and stagnant. Dak has had everything change around him, sometimes 2 or 3 times to no avail. ‘Texas Coast’ has been a fun fling, but it hasn’t unlocked a legitimately better version of Dak. No change has since his rookie season.

I predict we don’t make the playoffs this year, and the HC job turns to someone new. The last shot that Dak has to take a step and get the Cowboys over a hump will have to be that next OC.

It’s easy to step back and say he won’t get better, but since he’s not going anywhere, all we can do is hope there’s a QB whisperer out in the universe that can level Dak to his final form and take this team all the way. Might as well argue about who that should and shouldn’t be
Dak will achieve Cowboys immortality, but not like you or he hopes.
Dak will be remembered as the quarterback who put the final nail in the coffin for "America's Team".
By the time his contract is up, real Cowboys fans will be gone. All that will be left are casual fans who love the party atmosphere of game days more than the game itself, and fantasy football nerds who never cared if the Cowboys won or not as long as their favorite players got their stats.
Yes, Dak will be remembered.

Well he will get 4 more chances after this season is over.
Man but Denver traded Wilson and are taking the huge cap hit, I don't see why we can't adopt this principle one of these years!

The guy already is immortal in dc history.

Worst character to ever play at the qb position.

Its a shame how deep this franchise has sunken to even consider someone like him being the flagship of this once proud franchise.

Unfortunately for you, the greatest thing Dak will be known for here is pulling off the greatest heist in Cowboys history. Took an imbecile like Jerry to cooperate, but he did it. Won’t win a dammm thing.

Yes, of course. The only thing wrong with the Cowboys is Dak. Once we get a new QB, we will win every game and never give up another point.

I get it. Dak is the QB so all the blame goes to him, and none of the credit when they win. If they lose 44-19 and the defense gives up 5 TD on 5 straight drives to start the game, it's Dak's fault for not getting the Cowboys 6 TDs on 5 drives.
It's absurd but it is the state of Cowboys fandom.

But look around the league. Pittsburgh is 3-1 with Justin Fields, a backup at QB. Washington is 3-1 with a rookie. Minnesota is 4-0 with Sam Darnold. Tampa is 3-1 with Baker Mayfield.

On the other hand, the Rams are 1-3 with Stafford. Cincinnati is 1-3 with Joe Burrow, and Jacksonville is 0-4 with the great Trevor Lawrence. How can these records be if the QB is the only guy that matters?

The answer is winning takes all 53 guys on the roster, not 1. Of course the QB is important, but no QB can success without a good team and good coaching, and even a good organization, behind him. Likewise, mediocre QBs can succeed if they have good teams to support them.

Dak haters refuse to accept that the Cowboys are not a very good team. They were better last year but GB showed they had huge flaws on offense and defense. Who is our rushing threat this year? We have the worst RB squad in the league I would say. How about our WRs? After CeeDee who is the threat at WR? Basically the Cowboys have CeeDee and Ferguson, and Ferguson is a tough TE but not a threat to break a game open.

On top of that neither of the OTs is a reliable pass blocker and the entire OL struggles to open holes for the running game.

In the meantime, the defense was manhandled by 2 of the 4 teams they have played this year, and 3 of 5 if you count the last game against the Packers, and that is when they have Bland, Amstrong, Sam Williams, Fowler, and Hankins.

I am not saying Dak is a great QB or that he deserved $60 million, but no one player if going to take this team anywhere this year. And the team was overrated last year. It's too bad. They were a couple of players away from getting over the hump from last year, or if you look at the 2022 team they may have been even closer. But Jerry sits on his hands in the offseason and lets the team deteriorate because he won't pay for talent. It is not Dak's fault.

Just stop. Success means post season wins. He’s been playing long enough that there is no more upside with him. He’s not a rookie. We know who he is.

Jerry screwed the foreseeable future of the franchise, for years to come with this contract.

Until the FO realizes that defense wins Super Bowls, nothing will change. No one has won one without a top defense, but there have been a few won with even backup QBs. End of story.

It wont matter. He's just not "that guy" when the pressure turns up in the playoffs. No Qb has had more opportunities to change the narrative on their career than him.
Here's really only 1 (THAT GUY) in all honesty and that's Mahomes. So it does matter
