Play action, naked, reverse bootleg................Dak is plenty fast enough for this.

Do that once line up the same next chance and toss a quick out to Witten. Ta dah!!

See.....it ain't hard. ;)

Not too worried about the redzone stuff since we've seen him execute on those plays in the preseason. Right now, I think it's the fluke of the small sample size. And the fact that scoring from the 10 yard line in is tough for everybody, and we seem to have gotten into that area quite a bit these first two games here.

If he can get a little bit better and add some new wrinkles, hopefully they can back defenses out of the box and let Elliott handle the red zone issues.

I don't see that as a weakness... I think he has plenty of tools for that. Until I see otherwise, I'm going to assume that his weakness is that he can't accurately throw the ball to intermediate or deep targets... because they are really, really making an effort to keep him from doing so (plus it was an issue in college as well).

OK. Not a real weakness because this will improve with experience--- Redzone passing. I have not seen a good pass from Dak down in the redzone. All fades and back shoulder stuff. This may be multi factorial from being extra careful with the ball and not taking chances, much harder read since field is compacted, rapport with his receivers. Or maybe the coaches are trying to protect him by conservative play calling.

Nevertheless, if this team wants to win they will need Dak to be better in the Redzone in terms of passing.
I think the lack of redzone passing TDs has a lot more to do with the latter points you mentioned. The TDs will come as the comfortability (both from Dak's and the coaches point of view) increases.

I think he may be trying to be careful down in the redzone but the one shocker for me is the fact in 2 games Dak has only ran 3 times. I really thought he would be tucking it and running more often as many rookies do but Dak has maintained his poise and is not taking off at the 1st sign of pressure which in my view is pretty amazing.

No question about the difficulty. Just that we can't settle for FGs. Haven't seen the coach call a "good" passing play....all just fades and back shoulders. Hope they will learn (coach and Dak).

The good play calls are the ones that work. Personally, I really like the fades in the redzone. It's a difficult pass to cover if it's thrown right.

Once we get the passing game going a bit more, the running game opens up. From there, a lot more of the playbook becomes available. The big plays are coming. We've seen them setup already and either Dak didn't see it or we didn't quite connect. We've also seen in preseason that they're capable of connecting on them. I bet this week we see another step forward in the passing game. Hopefully, we do and we can protect this bad defense better than we've been able to so far this season.

I'm waiting for a big play to Williams or Butler to happen. If we demonstrate we can do that now and then, it changes everything we're seeing defensively and puts Elliott back into play as a legitimate rushing threat.

I'd also add his anticipation is a tick slow. He's still waiting for WRs to come open as opposed to throwing them open, or seeing that they will get there.

This is a minor, minor issue though. Partly because he's new and hasn't built the same rapport with everyone (Dez), partly because he's a rookie and it will just take time to get used to NFL gamespeed. I think it also requires you to take chances on a pick every now and then - right now he's playing not-to-throw INTs, but sometimes you gotta balance risk/reward.

The only other issues I've seen is he doesn't have a full stable of throws - when to touch, when to zing, etc. He has only a few pitches/release points, but as with the last thing, this is the sort of thing that comes with time anyway.

We need more rub plays like the Giants employed around the goal line. Heck, we have needed them for a while now.

If you re-watch his TD run he actually had Witten breaking open from right middle going left in the end zone... he looked to be clear but the db on the far end to the left may have closed in.. Moot point. He made the right decision obviously. The field is condensed here. Very tough area. I live with him improving and not making crushing mistakes in the redzone.

Looks like they only give him one read to Dez in the corner of the EZ whether he's covered or not. Waste a down there.

He also hasn't turned the ball over in the RZ and has dropped passes for would be TDs.
Where did you get that sig pic?

They don't design anything that's innovative. I saw Philly last night run this reverse type pass thingy that got them into the end zone. I have an idea, run everything from under center down there, no shot gun, EVER.

If you're referring to the play where the receiver went into motion and then cut back the other way while the line blocked the other way.... That was the most impressive play I have seen in years.

I think there is no doubt after a couple more games he is going to improve a lot in the red zone.
The play calling has to improve though or it's gonna be tough on him.

Corner of the end zone fade pass........it's the standard JG call almost every time they get in the redzone. I hate the play with a passion. In my opinion, it's a low percentage play. Mix it in once in awhile, but not almost every single time.
