Dak's weakness

I like the fade Romo throws to Dez, where he puts some zip on it and the ball is there as soon as Dez and his guy turn around. He's gotta teach Dak the timing on that throw. Not much to work with inside the 20. I like more screens and wheel routes though, even comebacks.

He actually threw this ball beautifully in his first preseason game vs rams.

I agree but Redzone passing is tough for even veteran QB's. It's not a simple thing to do.

That's why guys like Romo and Rodgers are so nice to have because they buy time and let guys get into space in those areas of the field.

I've seen Dak buy time but he hasn't made the play yet.

We don't use rub routes or pick plays so we are probably going to be limited to lobs to Dez and maybe some play actions.

If I have 1 Dak complaint, and it's nit picky, it's that he was a big play guy all preseason and our offense has lacked big plays so far.
I don't know where you've been, but we ran 2 rub routes the first week to try and get Bryant free.

For as bad as Breeland looked against Dez, he covered those fades pretty well.

I think they need to really put an emphasis on Witten down there in the end zone, make that Prescott's first read rather than going to Dez on a fade and wasting a down. I just trust Witten catching in the red zone far more.

It'll start to open up, not too worried about it. I'm more worried about Dak not taking many shots down the field, I would like to see 2-3 to T-Will and Butler.

Maybe, just maybe, when he actually throw's a TD, you can cross that of the list of Dak's weaknesses. I mean since he doesn't seem to have any real weaknesses according to the hype machine here. If he throws his first pick as a rookie, I'd hate for him to immediately have twice as many picks as TD's, statistically speaking.

I wonder if week 3 or maybe 4 is the best time for him to throw a TD. He seems to have the running for the TD down at this point. But I'm pretty sure teams are going to eventually say "Hey, this guy is the second coming of Warren Moon but I haven't seen him throw a TD yet."

What week does Tony come back?

What are you even on about? If you're going to attempt criticism, try and make it at least somewhat comprehensible.

Green Bay and New England like to run the fake in or Jordy last week fake blocked in then push off to a quick out on the goal line.
Granted Dez can't push at all or it'll be called but, i'd like to try this play once instead of the fade.

Why don't they use Escobar at the back of the endzone. They did previous years.

If it works, they stop using it. I'm only half kidding.

I always wonder about this too. Escobar got like 2 TD against the Gints and had a great game overall few years back. You never saw him again rest of the season. He'd be a perfect redzone weapon.

Maybe it is just me but it seems that most of Romos redzone TD's come on fades to Dez or when he buys time and gets out of the pocket and freelances. Like some have said, I don't think we are very creative in the redzone.

We have to be near the bottom in TD's by Tight Ends the last 5 years. Can't see why we don't utilize them in the redzone.

It's called sarcasm. For you guys blaming coaching, game plans and whatever else for holding Dak back. He's done well for a rookie with two games under his belt. But to start a post about "trying" to find a weakness is laughable. I just pointed out a glaring one. 0 TD's so far. I'll be hoping for at least 1 this week.

I like Dak. He can do anything you'd ask from a veteran backup QB. Amazing that he's a 4th round rookie and that he's already matched the win totals for our backups last year in 12 games. But I'm tired of this team being bad. We had an All Pro in Romo for 10+ years and never came close to sniffing a championship. We better build a good team around this Dak kid. There might not be a single player on this defense with a bright future (jury's still out on Lawrence and Jones).

OK. Not a real weakness because this will improve with experience--- Redzone passing. I have not seen a good pass from Dak down in the redzone. All fades and back shoulder stuff. This may be multi factorial from being extra careful with the ball and not taking chances, much harder read since field is compacted, rapport with his receivers. Or maybe the coaches are trying to protect him by conservative play calling.

Nevertheless, if this team wants to win they will need Dak to be better in the Redzone in terms of passing.

It just comes down to experience and being able to read defenses presnap... That should come in time. To me the biggest hole in Daks game right now is being able to push the ball downfield and hit a long pass. We saw a little in the preaseason, but until he hits them defenses are going to play closer to the line and let him have short throws.

Try running the damn ball. Shotgun passing from the 5 three times in a row?

Hasn't the playbook often struggled in the Red Zone? Is it the QB, the receivers, or the system?

Just a heads up

If he threw 1INT without throwing for a TD..he wouldn't have twice as many INTs as TDs

That's not how it works
