Dallas has many Rivals-

#1- Commanders, because they are ugly, Cocky, nerve Wrecking and have won 3 Bowls......

#2- New York, Because everybody hates New York......

#3- Green Bay, Why? Ice Bowl........

#4- Philly has not won nothing and plus they boo their own teams half the times, Philly hates Dallas because we win and they are Jealous....herefore they play harder against us to try in send a message, I was actually thinking we should have Kick Phily out the league then Zona, I feel Zona will win a SB b4 the Eagles....

The Eagles can't stand been in a division where every team in it has multiple rings except them with Zero....

Until Philly win they will always be the other team in the division who almost could....

I stopped reading when you wrote ..."the 3 elite teams were based on having 5 SB wins. No doubt, this is truly an outstanding accomplishment, but what about the Miami Dolphins ...you want to tell me that their 17-0 Season does not qualify them as an "elite" team? And ...no one ...no one has repeated that eliteness!

Just because a team has never won a SB (or NFL Championship), it does not disqualify them from the "elite" team category. Just something to think about Cowchips.

Whats with bolding everyone's name? Anyway if your going to include the Dolphins, I think you need to include the Pats as well. 21 wins in a row over two seasons is quite an accomplishement.

As far as rivalry, when 21% (or something like that, can't remember now. 17 out 80?) of superbowl opponents come from the same division, I think the whole division is in a rivalry :). No other division in the NFL can boast that stat I believe.

Just trying to show some respect Gibby. For me, when I add "bold" to something, it accentuates the importance of the name/person. It's when I do not bold/highlight the name is when one should be concerned.

I don't disagree! The whole point was not to limit jst 3 teams to that "Elite" status.

Wow, it's stunning to me that someone would actually think this way.

Yes, if you haven't won a super bowl, if you haven't won multiple championships, you are not an elite franchise.

17-0 season is great, but that alone doesn't make the franchise elite. You have to have consistently great teams.

By the way, the Cowboys qualify as an elite franchise no matter how you slice it - playoff wins, playoff appearances, winning seasons, all-time wins, championship game appearances, super bowl appearances, super bowl wins, winning percentage...when you are at or near the top in all those categories, you're elite.

You have to have success in individual seasons, and you have to have success over a long period of time. If you don't have that, you aren't elite. Doesn't necessarily mean you have a bad franchise, it just isn't elite.

I've never hated the Cowboys; in fact, I may have had some envy ...but not hate, distain or jealousy. To me the Commanders (I actually live in Commanders country), and the Cowboys were traditionally rivals.

Especially when the Cowboys mascot and the Commanders mascot went after each other ...kind of a melancholy take bake to the American Indian era, frontier plain battles.

The Eagles versus the Cowboys is more on the lines of a "grudge" game. For example ...last year the Cowboys spanked us, so quite naturally the Eagles are looking for some payback. Sprinkle some "TO" in the mix and you've got a good old fashion "grudge" game brewing!

Tally Ho!

You may not hate the Cowboys, but I've lived in Philly all my life and I can tell you unequivocally that among Eagles fans you are in the vast minority. Literally about 99% of Eagles fans hate the Cowboys. Not just hate but HATE.

I find it very hard to believe that Commanders fans have more hate for the Cowboys than Eagles fans.

As John Madden once said..the winner of the SB is on the top of the NFL world, the loser just gets thrown back into the pile. Miami's one shot deal was great, but elite means having climbed the SB mountain and Miami's only done that twice.

Philly is not a Cowboy rival. Our rivial in my opinion is Washington, Steelers, and you might put the 49ers in there. The Eagles rival are the Giants. But since the Cowboys are Americas team, maybe everybody considers us their rivals.

No, the Eagles rival is absolutely the Cowboys. The Giants aren't even close.

Born and raised in Philly; South Philly specifically. Although, now days you can be an Eagles fan from Alaska and still love/hate the Cowboys. I've always said that I do not Hate the Cowboys ...but I'll not try to deny the fact that there's no love lost for the Cowboys either. Yet, I have no reason to believe that all Cowboy fans Hate the Eagles either.

I'm finding a hard time understanding the capacity of your statement and statistics. Geez genghiskhan ... 99 freaking % is one hellofva embellishment ...wouldn't you say? Where do you get your intell? You've go to be kidding me! Besides, everyone knows It's only 97%

It's called hyperbole. You know, gross exaggeration to make a point. Look it up sometime. And the point is, watch and read and listen to the media around here. Talk to fans around here. The hate that Philly fans have for the Cowboys is enormous and intense.

Pay attention next time. I know Eagles fans are morons but geez.

you say you are born and raised in philly (SOUTH PHILLY at that). and you mean to tell me that you think, as a EAGLES fan, the Commander rivalry is bigger? Maybe you need to come back to the city of brotherly love. i havent lived in the city for ten plus years but even back then the city would all but almost close down for weeks just to play the BOYS. to me, most of the distain for the BOYS does come from respect. but that doesnt translate into the normal meaning. EAGLES fans (because we do have COWBOY fans in Philly) respect the BOYS to the point that they hate them. They hate the star, the blue and silver, they hate the players, the coaches hell even the cheerleaders (well maybe not). Make no mistake Philly is one of the more knowledgeable sport city's around. we just havent had a winner around for awhile. i find this rather odd, but yo im not sticking up for the EAGLES but rather the City. As a BOYS fan in the late 70's early 80's how could I not remember Wilbert Montgumery running 60-70 yards to knock us out of the 1980 NFC championship game, and then all those years of the EAGLES and BUDDY RYAN spanking us. Do we forget the "bounty bowl", the snow balls thrown at the team and "Jimmy Johnson", the statment by Buddy Ryan "who the are H3LL are the COWBOYS ANYWAY"? God forbid you wear your COWBOYS gear to School, you wouldnt make it to the SEPTA bus, train, subway or trolley. Then the 90's and the BOYS turned it around and like many post have said before, the EAGLES have never won a dam thing since the 60's, and they turned it around in 9-10 years and are on top again, not just beating but killing everyone and they have three rings (should have had five rings well at least four) and no you cant be from alaska and have the same hate for the BOYS as if you lived in the city. NOT AT ALL!!!!! I hate the EAGLES (but respect what they have done-even though they havent won a thing) but at least i understand why they hate us as COWBOYS. fans.

YN1SCOTT ...You've said a Lot of good stuff here, but it's scattered throughout your post. That said, I'll try to pull together the components that are adhesive to what I was trying to say; that's not to say that I'm ignoring the points you're making otherwise.

There's a certain amount of logic in what you're saying. Now I'm uncertain if you are actually from Philly or just lived there. But growing up in Philly you would have "undoubtedly" encountered countless confrontations that usually end in some sort of physical combat (fights). Once you fought someone, you had to fight them several times. Regardless of the winner (usually that would go back and forth), the end result was usually (not always) mutual respect, and even friendship. That "friendship" should not be misconstrued as spending time together or sharing inner thoughts as would be done with the traditional interpretation of "friendship."

That said, I agree with your concept that many Eagle fans (I could no more account for all Eagle fans no more than you or anyone else here could) "hate" the Cowboys in a way that doesn't translate into the (traditional) meaning of the word.

Make no mistake Philly is one of the more knowledgeable sport city's around. we just havent had a winner around for awhile. i find this rather odd, but yo im not sticking up for the EAGLES but rather the City.

That took cojones! Believe it or not, I stick up for the Cowboys from time to time on other sites. How could you not have respect for a Team that has accomplished so many championships against some punishing NFL teams ...5 times! That's why I say ...I don't hate the Cowboys ...but ther's no love lost along those same lines. My team will ALWAYS be the Eagles -- win or lose!

My following comments are contained in BOLD; within your Quotes...

As a BOYS fan in the late 70's early 80's how could I not remember ...Wilbert Montgumery running 60-70 yards to knock us out of the 1980 NFC championship game ...What else did you expect an opponent player to do when an opportunity to score a TD presents itself
?

As a BOYS fan in the late 70's early 80's how could I not remember ...
BUDDY RYAN spanking us. Do we forget the "bounty bowl", the snow balls thrown at the team and "Jimmy Johnson", the statment by Buddy Ryan "who the are H3LL are the COWBOYS ANYWAY"? ...There are Eagle fans who hate Buddy Ryan!!!!

As a BOYS fan in the late 70's early 80's how could I not remember
... if you wear your COWBOYS gear to School, you wouldnt make it to the SEPTA bus, train, subway or trolley. ...you say you lived in Philly? If so, you should know that the EL (train) SEPTA, the Subway-Surface Cars (you called them trolley cars ...You can't be that old), are all subject to riff-raff elements looking for excuses to confront, cause problems, etc. You should be proud and allowed to wear your team's jersey anywhere and at any time ...but common sense supercedes giving someone a reason to draw attention to you.

As a BOYS fan in the late 70's early 80's how could I not remember ...I hate the EAGLES (but respect what they have done-even though they havent won a thing) but at least i understand why they hate us as COWBOYS. fans ...I see that you are also military (I'm Air Force). That said, I'd defend to the death, you're right to hate anything you choose. But you can't interpret or assume that same hate retrospectively!

Listen carefully my former homeboy ...I am an Eagles fan, and I do not HATE the Cowboys -- the percentage rate just dropped from 99% down to 97% (I know other Eagle fans that feel the same way)!

Now enjoy the rest of your day.

About as stupid as some people's reading comprehension.

Since when did one of biggest rivalries become THE biggest rivalry?

The Eagles Philly rivalry is one of the biggest rivalries in the NFL particularly over the last decade. I wouldn't say it was above the Skins/Cowboys rivalry historically but in terms of intensity I would say it has been bigger over the past decade because ...

1. Up until last year, we owned the Skins. Except for diehard fans, this rivalry started becoming boring.

2. The Eagles had been the NFC East champions for the past four years prior to last year. And the Eagles were the team to beat.

3. We have played the Eagles twice in the playoffs, beating them 31-10 and 30-12 on our way to the Super Bowl. We haven't played the Skins in the playoffs since '82 when the Skins beat the Cowboys at RFK Stadium.

4. Bounty Bowl.

5. Jimmy Johnson vs. Buddy Ryan

6. Herschel Walker back for revenge.

7. Emmitt Smith vs. Andre Waters (remember, he said he was going to break Smith's legs.)

8. Snow ball blitz at Veteran Stadium (Jimmy Johnson gets pelted with snow balls exiting a tunnel at the stadium.)

9. Ray Rhodes vs. Barry Switzer (remember when Rhodes freaked out because Switzer said the Cowboys whipped the Eagles ARSES, and Rhodes took that as if Switzer had challenged his and the team's manhood?)

10. 4th and 1 Deja vu?

11. Miracle on Monday Night. (Eagles about to kick the game winning field goal, and it's either missed or botched, preserving a Dallas victory.)

12. Donovan McNabb and the 3-hour scramble.

13. The cheering of an injured Michael Irvin.

14. Roy Williams horse collaring TO, creating greater anomosity between Cowboys and Eagles fans.

15. Roy Williams singlehandly ending the Eagles hopes of victory and McNabb's season last year.

16. TO becomes a COWBOY.

The Boyz have been in more memorable and meaningful games against the Eagles over the past decade than they have been with the Commanders, though that may change now that Gibbs is back.

That jus about nails it.

Historically its Cowboys-Commanders

In recent History its Cowboys-Eagles
... honorable mention we won the games that really mattered AND we won NFC title games and SB's when we got there. Eagles can have all the "recent" victories(except last year) - they resulted in NOTHING!

While I for one, appreciate the gesture ...but, all those recent Eagle victories - did result in keeping your team out of the playoffs (last year nonwithstanding)!

Peter King said that this was one of the biggest rivalries in sports... do you guys think that its a bigger rivalry than dallas and washington??? IMO its not... you cant get a bigger rivalry than the Cowboys and Commanders.

no the Commanders dallas rivalry is one of the biggest. it doesn't matter what each teams records are in any year. its always out for blood.

the philly series goes trhough cycles, one team dominating the other for a period. what has added a bit of interest to it is the philty fans cheering Irvin's injury. those fans suck. that's why they have the only stadium that has a judge and a jail. that right there should explain everything about philty fans.

with that said, I think philly is a soft team. they had some talent in the past few years, more so than giants, skins and dallas and they dominated the division but they are a soft team. punch them in the mouth a couple of times and they will fold. I think they will come 3rd or last in the division.

just my .02$

when ever the cowboys lose a game its a disapointment.

But when the cowboys lose to the eagles it is painful, my phone will ring as eagles fans call me to rub it in like they just won the SB or something. even if the cowboys are 10-4 and the eagles record is 4-10, if the eagles beat the cowboys it is nonstop trash talking for 2-3 days and it is like a week long hangover.

The philly sports talk station even call it dallas week the whole week leading up to a cowboys-eagles game and it is non stop trashtalking of the entire dallas cowboys organization, it is viewed as the biggest week of the season.

i actually dont mind the Commanders and root for them sometimes when they dont play the cowboys and if they are not a threat to the chance to win the division title, and always root for the Commanders and giants when they play the eagles.

You do the math ...

2005 Dallas Stats:

Wins: 9
Losses: 7
Points Allowed: 308
Home Game Standings: 5-3
AFC Standings: 2-1

2005 Eagles Stats:

Wins: 6
Losses: 10
Points Allowed: 388
Home Game Standings: 4-4
AFC Standings: 3-1

The Eagles were injury riddled; the Cowboys actually kept yourselves out of the playoffs.
