You cant be serious right now

As bad as this defense is/has been, you have the nerve to defend the front office?

I can go on and on about mistakes theyve made when it comes to player acquisition on the defensive side...

Some of you guys need a lesson or two on comprehension. The point is that the scouting department has done its job, with regards to the abilities of the players brought in and the investment made to obtain them. If you want to criticize the front office for being "cheap" on defense, that's one thing. It's not the scouts' fault, though.

Only cut I'm not happy about that I've seen in this thread is Neal. I think we should have kept him even though we have several players who can contribute on the interior.

My sentiments exactly.

1st claiborne bust
1st jones (jury still out) 1 int on a Hail Mary in 2 years
top 2nd round dlaw 8 sacks in 3 years
2nd round Gregory out of league
3rd Crawford part time player
4th tapper should be cut
4th Russell out of league

Signed Thornton for 18 million doesn't start

You would hope for a couple impact players out of jones/Claiborne/Lawrence/Gregory.

I give them credit for maliek Collins that's about it. Hopefully Jaylon smith works.
all teams miss on picks
if you research the percentages of hit vs miss are about equal or better

Too many hamstring injuries at camp forced this. I wonder if we go long at corner because of it.

We've got at least five we want to keep (Scandrick, Carroll, Brown, Awusie and Lewis) and possibly six if we keep White. Would we go with seven?

Maybe they're considering putting Lewis on IR.

I hope not...it didn't sound that way judging by Jerry a day ago saying he has the instincts to play without practice.

So trading up for Morris Claiborne at 6 overall isnt a big investment?

Greg Hardy?

Randy Gregory?

Giving Tyrone Crawford 9m a year?

Drafting Byron Jones over Landon Collins?

Trading up for Demarcus Lawerence?

50m for Brandon Carr?

Claiborne was pre-McClay. Nonetheless, there was no question about his talent coming out of LSU. His issues were health-related. Dallas took him right where he was slotted by just about every pundit and front office in the league. Same for Brandon Carr (pre-McClay).

There's no denying Hardy's talent nor Randy Gregory's, either. With the regards to those two, the scouts did their jobs, so blame the bad signings on the front office.

As others have told you, this started as a criticism of the scouting department. You guys are trying your best to deflect it into a discussion on the front office, which wasn't tyhe point to begin with.

You want to argue about the front office? Be my guest, but it'll be a lonely argument.

I expected him to be cut. He was 6', 261 when drafted. He said he was at 280 in camp.

He often struggled in run defense against 2nd/3rd team players. Lack of length and lack of weight make it really difficult to play the run. David Irving is good against the run while just weighing a little more but his great length gives him an advantage.

If roster sizes were bigger, Neal could be a pass rush specialist as a DT but with limited roster sizes he may struggle to ever find a spot.

My analogy is using a CB at DE. The CB would likely run past the OT a couple of times in a game for a sack but would be a non-factor the other 60+ snaps.

I don't think we'll be lamenting with Neal losing a great player if some team chooses to claim him. I do think it's possible that we will lose a player who can be a solid contributor. But that's if teams don't pass on him because of his size, which would allow us to put him on the PS.
